As the weeks went by Marinette became more than just Adrien's fashion designer; she became his best and only friend. Before his mother died he only had one friend Chloe Bourgeois the daughter of the mayor Adre Bourgeois and the famous fashion expert Audrey Bourgeois. Though when his mom died he stopped talking to her and basically pushed her away especially when his dad made Adrien stay home 24/7 and honestly at the time Adrien was okay with that.
He still would see Chloe over the years when she would go to his house with her dad and/or mom but he wouldn't talk to her. Though that changed a little after he became Chat Noir when he started talking to her again but not enough to consider her his friend again. He was just nice and polite to her as acquaintances.
Marinette was different though ever since the first day he felt like he could talk to her as if he knew her for years. Adrien couldn't explain it, maybe it was the positive vibe she always had. Maybe it was because he would talk to her as Chat the flirty popstar and not Adrien the anti-social depressed boy. Either way Marinette has become someone important in his life and he couldn't stop the feelings that were forming for her little by little he was falling in love with her.
One day Adrien finished what he had to do at the studio early so he decided to go home and relax, something he didn't have time to do lately. He went to the elevator and pressed the button on the elevator to the first floor, sighing softly as he thought about Marinette.
What was he supposed to do? He was a flirt and he was flirting with Marinette. She was a great friend, someone he could talk to as Chat and as Adrien even though she didn't know that Chat Noir was really Adrien Agreste. As much as he liked her there were two things stopping him from asking her out. First he knew that by doing so he would have to tell her who he really is and he wasn't ready for that and secondly he knew that she didn't like him. Well, not the way he wanted her too.
What did she actually think of him? Chat Noir is a flirt but Adrien isn't. Maybe she thinks that Chat flirts with everyone. Shall he try and approach her as Adrien and see what she thinks? That probably wasn't a good idea since he had a feeling she'll like Adrien but not because of his personality but because of his looks.
He used to be a model before he lost his mother and he knew that Marinette was a big fan of his dad Gabriel Agreste so she probably would just like him for that too. No one knew that Gabriel was Chat's dad besides the record label but for the rest of the people working with Chat like Marinette he was an anonymous person. Adrien basically lost his father too since he became distant with Adrien since his mom died, well that was until he discovered that Adrien could sing. It's like Chat is his product. He uses his fame.
Adrien was starting to wonder why he even bothered with his dad. Ever since becoming Chat Noir and meeting Marinette his opinion in life changed. He wanted to go to school and to be normal. Adrien can be normal and Chat can be famous. No one will ever notice…if only Adrien wasn't anti-social that wasn't something he could change whenever he wanted.
As the elevator opened and Adrien walked out he saw that Marinette was about to walk out the front door. "Hey Marinette, wait up." Adrien said, rushing to her.
Marinette turned around to face him and smiled as she signed. 'Hey Chat what's up?'
"Nothing much. I'm just surprised that you're still here. I thought you left hours ago." Adrien replied.
'That was the plan but at the last minute I was dragged into an interview.' Marinette replied.
Adrien raised an eyebrow. "An interview?"
Marinette nodded. 'It seems like the press wanted to meet the fashion designer of the famous Chat Noir.'
Adrien nodded. "Well if you want I could take you home. It is raining and I wouldn't want you to walk in the rain and get sick." Adrien said as he looked out the glass doors and saw the raindrops.
Marinette smiled and shook her head. 'That's sweet Chat but I don't want to be a bother to you.'
"It's not a bother at all you're my best friend remember c'mon let's go my driver is waiting right there." Adrien said pointing to the limo that was outside.
Marinette hesitated at first but then she nodded. 'Okay thanks.'
Adrien and Marinette walked out as Adrien took out an umbrella and both of them shared it as they walked to the limo. Adrien opened the door for her and after Marinette got in he got in and closed the door.
"Okay so where do you live?" Adrien asked Marinette.
'Take me to the Dupain-Cheng bakery where I live on top of it.' Marinette replied.
Adrien nodded and told his driver to take them to the bakery and soon the car drove off. "So your parents own a bakery that's cool. I haven't had baked goods in a while."
'Are you on a diet or something?' Marinette asked playfully.
"You could say that for years my dad has controlled what I eat for years and baked goods aren't in the meals." Adrien replied.
Marinette raised an eyebrow. 'What about in school?'
"I haven't gone to public school since I was 8. I'm homeschooled." Adrien replied. "Actually I haven't left my house until I became Chat Noir."
Marinette looked at him surprised. 'What about your friends?'
"I only had one childhood friend but because of..some circumstances I pushed her aside and well now you're my only friend." Adrien replied. "What about you, any other friends?"
Marinette nodded. 'At school I have a group of friends, my best friend Alya Cesaire, her boyfriend Nino Lahiffe, Nathaniel Kurtzberg and his girlfriend Chloe Bourgeois.'
Adrien froze slightly when he heard Chloe's name. "Chloe Bourgeois? The daughter of the mayer? And hey I thought I was your best friend." Adrien asked playfully.
Marinette giggles. 'I can have more than one best friend Chat and yes Chloe Bourgeois the daughter of the meyer. Why do you know her?'
"No…at least not in person but I have heard of her." Adrien replied.
Marinette nodded and soon the car stopped in front of the bakery. 'Wait here Chat.' Marinette rushed out the door to the bakery and soon she rushed back out to the car and handed Adrien a box of cookies.
Adrien shook his head. "No I can't."
Marinette smiled. 'I insist take it as a thank you from me for driving me home.'
Adrien was going to decline again but seeing the smile on her face and the sparkle in her eyes he couldn't say no. Adrien smiled and took the box. "Thank you, it's a nice gesture from you."
Marinette smiled. 'I'll see you tomorrow Chat.' She kissed his cheek before going back to the bakery.
Adrien touched his cheek in shock as he felt his face getting hot. Adrien looked at the bakery with a smile. "See you tomorrow princess." Maybe he had a chance with her after all.
