"Love me like you."
— Boom Shadow
Shadow was annoyed as he made his way to Eggman's base, not so happy to hear that he had to waste his day looking after Eggman's base. He looked up at the camera above the base entrance. He flipped the bird at the camera. "Oh, Shadow! How wonderful—" Shadow cut him off. "Let me in or I'm breaking the door down."
"J-Just a moment Shadow! I hadn't really cleaned up the place, just give me a moment." Shadow rolled his eyes and tapped his foot impatiently. "Eggman, Mao is currently in the kitchen. Would you like us to keep him occupied until Shadow arrives?" Shadow rose a brow. Mao?
That's a new one. "Hush you dimwit!" Eggman yelled. "A-Alright Shadow you can come in now!" And the doors slid open. Shadow scoffed. "Finally."
He muttered under his breath as he walked in. Eggman had a suitcase sitting beside him. "Going somewhere?" Shadow asked. "Ah yes. I decided it would be nice to take a break from being a villain. I'm going to the Bahamas for a few months."
Shadow's eyes widened. "Months? I have to look after this for a couple of months?" Eggman waved his hand. "Oh don't worry, you'll have some company," Eggman paused and cleared his throat. "Mao, come here please!" Shadow scoffed.
Great. Another useless machine. And to his a surprise, a very tall light brown-skinned male with dark brown hair, elf-like ears, red eyes, (although prettier than his,) a lightly freckled face, wearing a light grey sweater and sweats, came out of the kitchen holding a plate of Tostitos. "Yes, Mr. Robotnik?" He called out. Shadow's heart almost stopped.
His heart nearly stopped when hearing his voice. "Mao, meet Shadow. Shadow, this is Mao." Mao smiled at him and waved. "I'd found him on my doorstep 5 years ago. He's a curious one, so don't mind him if he happens to stare a lot." Shadow simply huffed looking away from the male.
Mao popped a tostito into his mouth chewing happily. "C-Careful! Those were just taken out of the oven!" Orbot warned the male. Shadow was for some reason reminded of a puppy when he looked at Mao. "So? They just cooled off a couple of minutes ago.
I'm not a child anymore so don't treat me like one- Ooh!" Mao let out a little squeal midsentence as he nearly dropped his plate of tostitos. Shadow had to hold back a snicker. Mao was adorable in his opinion. "Anyways, I'll be going now. Oh, and Shadow, if you plan to take him to town, make sure Sonic and his band of rodents don't touch him.
They need to keep their noses out of things." Shadow ignored him as the man left and the doors closed behind him, immediately locking. Mao was sitting on the couch watching tv and eating his tostitos. Shadow sat on the couch on the opposite side of him. Mao turned to look at the ebony hedgie. He'd never gotten to see one besides a blue one Robotnik didn't like. But he had to hide in a cramped space.
"Can you stop staring?" Mao squeaked. "Sorry. Your quills are really pretty. I like the red on them, it's... unique." Shadow felt blood rush to his cheeks. "I've never been told that my quills are unique.
I've been told they were strange at most but never... unique or even pretty." Mao smiled. "Well, then I'll be the first to tell you!" Shadow looked away from him. For some reason, this male had this strange effect on him that no one has had on him in the longest time. "Well, there was this other hedgehog. He looked like you, but he had lots of bandages and he wore a scarf.
His quills were a really pretty shade of blue. But I still think yours are prettier." Shadow's heart was beating so fast, that his inhibitor rings started to glow. This man makes him feel feelings he's not ready for. Mao reached for another tostito but whined when he couldn't find anymore. "Cubot!" Mao called out.
The small red robot zoomed over to Mao. "Yes— Oh what's wrong?" Mao whined. "Can you make me some more?" He asked. Before Cubot could speak, Shadow cut him off.
"Why don't you make a sandwich instead? You'll get fat eating all of that junk food." Shadow suggested. "Mr. Robotnik doesn't let me touch knives because I broke one of the cutting boards." Shadow struggled to find words for a moment. "Well then, I'll help you make it. Show me to the kitchen."
Mao popped up off the couch immediately. "Okay!"
Mao watched as Shadow searched the refrigerator for ingredients for a sandwich. Eventually, he closed it, sighing. "Does he only have junk food..?" He muttered to himself. Mao tilted his head to the side. "Do we not have the stuff for a sandwich?" He asked.
Shadow's crimson eyes met Mao's ruby ones. He'd just now noticed the small rubies hanging from the tips of his ears. "No. I'll have to go get some." Mao's expression went to look like an excited puppy's. He chuckled softly to himself. "Though, if you want to you could come with me."
He could imagine Mao having a little puppy tail. It would be so cute. "I can? Yay!" Mao giggled. Shadow gave him a little smile. He makes him feel content.
He loves it.
Mao acted like a puppy. Quite literally, he followed Shadow everywhere he went. Shadow thought it was cute. Shadow had been looking for a perfect tomato only to bump into the blue blur. Shadow grunted in annoyance. "What's wrong Mr. Shadow?" Shadow's heart melted a little hearing the innocence in his voice.
Shadow sighed and turned around, looking up at the puppy towering over the two hedgehogs. "Nothing. Take this to the front for me. Go to the line, I'll be there in a moment." Mao nodded. And took the basket leaving Shadow's side. Shadow wanted to feel the warmth radiating from the male.
He turned to the blue hedgehog and sighed. "What do you want?" Sonic whined. "Aw, come on! I just wanted to stop by and say hi." Shadow rolled his eyes. "Sure. And I'm Knuckles the Echidna."
"Come on. I know Knux and be a bit.." Sonic trailed off trying to think of a word to describe him with. "Dumb?" Shadow suggested. "No."
"Stupid?
"No.."
"Utterly ridiculous?"
"Wh— Okay, now you're just being mean." Shadow rose a brow. "What gave you the impression that I wasn't?" Sonic looked offended. Shadow walked over to Mao and dropped a tomato in the basket. The tall puppy looked over at Shadow. "Is that all we need?"
He asked. "Mhm. You have everything else at home." The tall puppy beamed. Shadow's heart melted a little. So cute. He thought. He could imagine Mao with a puppy tail.
That would be so cute. "Hey Shadow, who's this?" Sonic asked. Shadow sighed. The puppy paused in putting the items on the counter. He looked at the blue hedgehog. "You look just like Mr. Shadow!
I like your quills. They're very pretty." Sonic had no clue why his cheeks flushed. "Oh— Uh thank you. You're not looking too bad yourself." Mao smiled at him.
Sonic was taken by surprise at the gesture. Why was he being so awkward? He thought he'd pushed those feelings away. And why was this guy so cute? "Go ahead put your things on the counter," Mao started to put the rest of the things on the counter humming a song to himself. That tune sounded somewhat familiar to Shadow.
"When you finally find it, you'll see how it's faded," Mao's voice was so soft.
"The underside is better when you turn it around,"
"Everything stays, Right where you left it,"
"Everything stays, but it still changes"
"Ever so slightly,"
"Daily and nightly,"
"In little ways, when everything stays," Mao had noticed how silent the two hedgehogs had went so he turned to them. "Ah, sorry. I used to sing this to my little brother whenever he had a nightmare. I sound pretty bad don't I?" He gave a sheepish laugh. Shadow liked his voice. His voice was soft and soothing.
Sonic didn't know why Mao's voice made him feel.. calmer. "No, not at all! I think you sound pretty nice." Mao seemed surprised for a moment. He giggled softly. "Thank you," Sonic gave him a smile.
In other words, Sonic was having a gay panic. After Shadow paid for their things, he looked at Mao. "Come on."
"But our stuff is in the basket," Mao said. "Take the basket then." Mao was unsure. "But wouldn't that be stealing?" Shadow was silent for a moment. "...Just take the basket."
"Okay."
Mao was currently munching on his sandwich happily. Unsurprisingly, for someone so tall, he had quite a large appetite. "Mao, it's time for your training." Mao sat his sandwich down on the plate. He whined and sat it on the table. He stood up and stretched. "I'll go get my training outfit on,"
He said as he retreated to the back. Shadow rose a brow. Training? Is he some sort of experiment? "Would you like to watch? He's very strong. I'm sure he won't mind."
Orbot asked. Shadow shrugged and got off the couch, following behind the robots as they stopped at a set of doors. They inputted a code, and the doors open they were currently in what looked to be the control room. There was a large glass window and a large room below them. From what he could see, it was full of danger possibly life-threatening machines. Mao was in the center of the room. He was wearing a white sleeveless turtleneck and black sweats, with combat boots.
"Hey. I had to get in here before the doors closed." Shadow rolled his eyes. "Don't you have someone else to annoy?" Sonic didn't respond. "Would you like to train with a combat bot today?" Orbot asked.
"Mhm! Oh, hi Mr. Shadow!" Mao, greeted, waving at him. Shadow thought it was cute how he got all happy when he saw him. Mao grinned, giggling. "Alright. I know Shadow's got your attention, but please try to focus." Mao nodded and squeaked as the combat bot made the first move.
The combat bot attempted to punch him, but was instead met with a very powerful roundhouse kick to the side. It'd flew onto the wall, being split in half from the harsh impact of the cement wall. "Oh, aw.. I broke it." Then oil splattered onto Mao's cheek, and a sharp piece of metal sliced his arm. Mao winced. "Ow!
Can I go again?" Mao asked the robot. "Next week. Come, I'll treat your injuries." Mao whined. "But they're gonna heal anyway—"
"Yes, but we can't risk you getting an infection."
Mao was sitting on a bed in the medical room as Orbot disinfected his wound. "Are you sure you're alright?" Mao nodded. "Do you need anything? Water? A snack?" Mao giggled and patted the robot's head.
"I'm fine Cubot. See?" He said patting his arm. Cubot nodded. Mao looked up to see Shadow and Sonic in the doorway. "Come in, come in!" Mao said.
"Oh. Wait." The two hedgehogs paused. Mao stood up once Cubot was done and lifted up his sweater so he could remove his pants. Mao was wearing black see-through thigh highs once he let his sweater down. You couldn't see the top though. Shadow instantly looked away.
"Much better," Mao said as he sat down. Mao giggled. "No need to be embarrassed, Mr. Shadow! This won't be the first time you'll see me without pants while you're looking after me." Sonic meanwhile was staring at Mao's luscious thighs. "You can touch them if you want to."
Sonic moved so quickly that it surprised Mao. He started squishing Mao's thighs making him giggle. "They're ticklish!" Sonic grinned. "They're so soft." Mao smiled. He looked at Shadow and smiled.
Maybe he would get used to being around Mao.
I hope you enjoy the return of my Sonic phase XD
