Fragile Hearts: Fifteen

"Okay, up we go," Sakura said barging into Naruto's office.

The blonde groaned and turned his chair around to face the glass window. "Leave me alone Sakura."

The pinkette sighed and rolled her eyes, placing both hands on her hips she cocked her head to the side. "How long?"

He furrowed his eyebrows, "what?"

"How long will you continue sulking like this?" She asked approaching him, placing her handbag down on one of the chairs in front of his desk she walked around to face him.

"I'm not sulking," he replied averting his eyes.

She scoffed and folded her arms over her chest. "Yeah right. It's been two weeks Naruto!"

"Don't you think I know that?" He snapped meeting her gaze.

"Have you tried calling her?"

"She won't take my calls."

Sakura frowned, "visiting her?"

"She won't see me."

"My God what did you do to her?" She asked surprised that Hinata had cut him off completely.

Naruto sighed and sat up, "look Sakura...I don't want to talk about it. Now if you'll excuse me, I have work to do."

The jade green eyed woman deadpanned, "pushing everyone away isn't the answer Naruto."

"I'm not—"

"For once I agree with her," came from the door. Two pairs of eyes landed on the pale man that had just entered.

The Uzumaki rolled his blue eyes and turned to face him. "Do you people ever knock?"

"Hey, I come in peace," Sai said holding both his hands up in surrender.

"Yet you're agreeing with Sakura?" Naruto narrowed his eyes and glanced between the both of them.

Sakura smiled, "because I'm right."

Sai winced and glanced at her, "yeah I wouldn't go that far." She gasped but he ignored her, "you've been sulking for the longest time."

"Just because I'm not all smiles, doesn't mean I'm sulking." He retorted flipping through his schedule.

The pale man rolled his eyes, "anyway, there's a reason why I came here."

"Besides backing up Sakura?"

"If that were the case then I wouldn't be here," he said pushing both hands into his pants pockets. "There's a launch coming up, we're invited."

At that Naruto perked up, "what company? When?"

"Our biggest competitor right now, Divino Motors, they're putting their new line of cars on display a few weeks from now." He said spearing Naruto the details.

The blonde frowned and looked around his office, "we need to schedule our launch as well."

"Yeah and rumor has it that Divino's new line of cars are pretty impressive."

"We can't let them get ahead of us."

"Well we've finished manufacturing a few prototypes, but they still need to be test driven." Sai replied.

"What? Why didn't anyone tell me?" He asked surprised, if he had known then he wouldn't taken the time out to schedule a test run.

Sai frowned, "we did earlier this week. Shikamaru even delivered the markups to you himself." The Uzumaki furrowed his eyebrows and began searching through the piles of files on his overcrowded desk. It wasn't long before he stumbled across the information Sai was talking about. He groaned and mentally scolded himself, he was so caught up with his problems with Hinata that he was neglecting his job.

Typical Naruto.

"I'll decide a date for the test drive and tell Shikamaru." Naruto said flipping through the folder.

The raven haired man nodded and turned to leave. "And for the record...I think you should take Sakura's advice and get yourself together."

"Gee, thanks Sai," he scoffed. Sakura shook her head and sat in one of the chairs before Naruto's desk. He tried to ignore her, but her piercing green gaze made him feel self conscious, which was extremely uncomfortable. He tried to keep his eyes on the pages before him, but in the end the Haruno won. "What now?" She opened her mouth to speak but then there was a knock on his office door. "Come in."

The pinkette turned in her seat and watched as the pastel blonde entered cautiously. "Mr. Uzumaki."

"Yes Shion?" He asked eager for her to get to the point, he was under enough stress as it was.

"You have a meeting scheduled for—"

"No he doesn't," Sakura spoke up causing Naruto to narrow his eyes at her in disbelief.

"Sakura—" she raised a hand cutting him off.

"Cancel all his meeting for this evening, he's going out."

"What?" He asked shocked by her announcement. Shion looked conflicted as she listened to the both of them.

"Mr. Uzumaki?" She asked unsure of what to do.

The pinkette turned to look at him with a daring stare. She waited for him to make his decision, her elbow cocked against his desk, fist under her chin. Naruto knew better than to challenge Sakura, she was a woman who stood for what she believed in and for that he would always back down.

He sighed and rolled his eyes, "do as she says. Apparently I have plans for this evening." Sakura smiled at him showing off her pearly white teeth which made him feel like he had indeed made the right decision.

Shion nodded slowly, "okay Sir." With that said she left quietly and closed the door behind her.

"You will he the death of me," he stated putting away the folder he was looking through.

"On the contrary I think Hinata has that covered." She retorted getting to her feet.

"Just where am I going tonight?"

Sakura smiled mischievously and picked up her bag. "I text you the details...just...dress casual."

"Sounds like I'm in for a long night."

"Trust me. You are."

...

"Hinata come on."

"No."

Her raven haired friend frowned and scratched the magazine that she was flipping through away. "Why not?"

"Because I don't feel like it," she replied grimacing at his actions. "Now give it back Sasuke-san."

He held it away from her, "not until you say yes."

She sighed and reached across the counter trying to get her magazine, "you're wasting your time."

"Am I?"

"Yes!" She whisper yelled glancing at the little girl who was standing beside Sasuke with her mother. She had come to buy a hamster and Shino was handling the transaction, meanwhile she herself was trying to get her life in order.

"Wrong answer," he said stepping back. She groaned and looked away, "it's Friday Hinata. Don't spend it cooped up in your apartment."

"Why shouldn't I? It's not like I'd be good company for anyone," she retorted angrily. She was frustrated and beyond upset with herself. She just had to ruin everything and because of that she wasn't willing to ruin the lives of those around her. It had been two weeks since she last interacted with Naruto, he came to see her on multiple occasions but she refused to face him. How could she?

She yelled at him. Made him feel as though he did something wrong and to add insult to injury, she basically kicked him out of her house. What kind of person does that to a friend? She didn't deserve him being in her life and avoiding him was the only way for him to see that.

"Hinata Hyūga would you stop beating yourself up already. I'm so tired of you giving yourself less than what you deserve."

"Thank you, come again," Shino's voice interrupted them. Hinata's lavender orbs glanced from her co-worker to the mother, child and hamster leaving the shop.

Once they were outside she decided to speak, "I do give myself what I deserve. Loneliness."

Sasuke scoffed and threw her magazine down on the table. "Sure."

She shook her head and rolled her eyes, "why are you so bent on me going out tonight?"

"Because you need a break. Aren't you tired of seeing your apartment yet?"

"No."

"I swear, you're even more stubborn than Sakura," he muttered.

"I'm not going Sasuke-san and that's final."

"Why not?" Shino piped in.

She gave him a quizzical look and Sasuke arched his eyebrows waiting for her response. "B-because I have work to do."

"Oh don't worry about it, I'll manage on my own." He said pushing his glasses further up his nose bridge..

"See, you have no excuse."

"B-but..."

"You're going," Sasuke said.

"No," Hinata answered firmly while closing her eyes. "You're not my dad Sasuke-san...so j-just please respect my decision. I'm not going." With that said she left both men in awe and went to check on the pets in storage.

...

Naruto got home early that day, it was only 6:43 p.m. when he was greeted by his dark haired maid.

"Welcome home Master Naruto," she smiled.

He returned the smile and nodded in acknowledgement. Looking around there was no sign of Kurama, but he simply shrugged it off. Dropping his bag on the couch he made his way upstairs but stopped midway when he remembered something. "Oh Izumi."

"Yes?" She asked stopping on her way to the kitchen.

"Take the rest of the evening off okay," he told her. She smiled and nodded to show her appreciation. The blonde took a deep breath and continued to his room. On opening the door he saw his vermilion coloured friend perk up on his bed. "Hey buddy," he grinned when he ran towards him wagging his tail. "Did you get locked in here?" He chuckled when Kurama lifted his two front paws and braced against him.

Naruto rubbed his head and opened the door wider so he could leave. Once his dog left he staggered over to his bed and threw himself into it's soft material. He was so tired and yet he felt like he accomplished nothing, in the past two weeks he was nothing but a complete mess. His phone started vibrating in his pocket causing him to frown and reach for it lazily.

Squinting he unlocked the screen and saw that his battery was at twenty five percent. The message he received was from Sakura pertaining to the details of just where he'd be going that night. She told him to meet her at eight, meaning he needed to start getting ready. Throwing a hand over his face he took a few deep breaths before getting up and removing his tie. Naruto reached into the top drawer of his bedside table and retrieved his charger. Getting to his feet he strolled over to the socket beside his chest of drawers and plugged it in then connected his phone to it. He scratched the back of his head and made his way into the bathroom.

By the time Naruto was finished getting dressed it was 7:39 and the sun had already said it's farewell. He pulled on the hem of his long sleeved T-shirt, it was black, to signify the type of mood he was in. He got his phone that was now at fifty nine percent and pushed it into the pocket of his blue jeans. Ruffling his semi dry hair with one hand he used the other to pick up his watch from the bedside table.

Once he was done in his room he jogged down the stairs and entered the kitchen. Kurama's bowl was almost empty so he got his dog food from the cupboard and filled it. As soon as the sound of the solid food hitting the bowl was heard he came running. The blonde chuckled and put away the bag, he was against free feeding, but he was all for spoiling Kurama from time to time.

"Don't wait up for me okay," he said patting his head. At least something good came out of him meeting Hinata.

He released a huff of air and washed his hands. Tearing a piece of hand towel from the roll on the counter he dried his hands and disposed of it on his way out. He was about to pick up the keys to his car but changed his mind. Opening the drawer of the table he got the keys for his motorbike instead...it was a while since he last used it.

Naruto smiled playfully as he entered his garage. Twirling the ring the key was on around his index finger he strolled towards his most prized possession and grabbed the cover that was over it. His eyes gleamed as he stared at his orange and black Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R 636. It was the first thing he bought when he took over the company from his godfather and he never regretted that decision.

"Well since Sakura is practically forcing me to go out tonight, might as well enjoy myself." He smiled to himself and mounted his motorbike. A feeling of nostalgia washed over him when he started the engine, he felt young and reckless again. Sliding on his helmet he quickly gathered himself and rode off to meet his friends.

Approximately half an hour passed before he reached his destination. He frowned when he saw just where Sakura asked to meet him and parked his bike in the parking lot. The collage of flashing colours made him a bit dizzy, either it was that or the effect of riding his bike after so long.

"You're late," Sakura frowned when he finally made it to the ice cream parlor.

"An amusement park? Really?" He asked looking around.

The pinkette shrugged, "what? I like the rides."

"Calm down Naruto," he heard his best friend say as he approached his fiancée with a serving of chocolate ice cream.

"Thanks," she beamed taking it.

"You're welcome," Sasuke replied before putting a hand on Naruto's shoulder.

"So you invited me so I could be the third wheel?" Naruto deadpanned.

Sasuke averted his eyes and stepped away from him, "something like that."

"That's cold."

Sakura giggled which caused her to get ice cream on her nose. "No, someone else is coming."

Sasuke took the napkin from her and wiped her nose while giving her a warning look. "Who?" The blonde asked. "Please tell me it's not Ino."

"Actually she canceled...so it's just the three of us," the Uchiha explained.

"You mean to two of you, I refuse to hang around you guys." He said pushing his hands into his jeans pockets.

Sakura gasped, "I thought we were friends."

Naruto rolled his eyes and looked around at the many people wondering around. "I just don't feel comfortable here...and I wouldn't want to intrude on your date."

"This isn't a date," Sasuke deadpanned.

"Still...I'm heading home."

"Naruto..." Sakura trailed off when her counterpart stopped her.

"Let him go," the raven haired man smirked. She arched an eyebrow and so did Naruto, shrugging it off he turned and bumped into someone.

"Sorry!" They both exclaimed in unison. He froze once he heard her voice, looking down at the girl he almost knocked over his eyes widened.

"Uh..." Naruto searched his brain for something to say.

She fidgeted in his hold, "y-your hands," she said loud enough for him to hear over the noise around them.

"S-sorry," he said releasing her arms. They both stared at each other for a while, him taking in her features and vice versa. "You look great..." He said absentmindedly observing her simple outfit. She was clad in blue, skinny jeans and a white T-shirt with black, long sleeves.

"Oh, uh...thanks." She whispered.

"What's wrong Naruto? I thought you were lea—ouch!" Sasuke exclaimed when Sakura elbowed him in his stomach.

"Alright, come on you two, lets go have some fun!" The pinkette cheered causing Naruto to look around at her. He offered her a smile and she smirked acknowledging his thank you. Her jade green eyes then shifted to the woman beside him before she spoke. "Glad you could make it Hinata."
