Fragile Hearts: Thirty-Three

"Hinata—"

"Just a minute," she said pulling him outside of the station. "I need to talk to you."

The black-haired man sighed and looked around to see if anyone was watching, which was pretty obvious since all eyes were on them. "Alright, but not out here." He pointed to the parking lot not too far from the police station, "I parked my car over there, let's go."

The midnight blue haired girl nodded and followed behind the Uchiha. Her phone started vibrating in her pocket again, but of course she ignored it. She didn't have the time to talk to anyone, not right now.

Sasuke sighed as he closed his car door and faced forward. He didn't look at her and she didn't really mind, what she was about to discuss with him wouldn't be easy so him turning away from her helped.

"Naruto-kun didn't do anything wrong," she started off.

"I think assault and battery counts as a crime Hinata."

She shook her head, "there was a reason for that."

"What possible reason—?"

"Me." She said cutting him off.

At that Sasuke furrowed his eyebrows and glanced at her, but Hinata turned away avoiding his gaze. "What do you mean?"

The Hyūga sighed, "w-when we were in college s-something h-happened the night Toneri and I supposedly b-broke up." She looked down at her hands that rested in her lap. She had to say it...for Naruto. "He...h-he raped me."

Sasuke's eyes widened and he turned towards her. "What?!"

She hung her head, she needed to finish before she broke down. "Naruto-kun was j-just protecting me the only way h-he knew how to..."

"Hinata—"

"Toneri's lying Sasuke-san," she finally looked at him with tear filled eyes. "He didn't—"

"I know," Sasuke interjected causing her eyes to widen.

"W-what?"

Sasuke sighed and winced, "I know Naruto would never steal company information, that much I'm sure of. But I can't just let him go since he did beat up Toneri."

"And now he's framing him."

Sasuke reached out and took a hold of one of Hinata's hands. Giving it a light squeeze he smiled slightly. "I know it must be hard for you to tell me all this and I can understand why you didn't tell me, but..."

"But?"

"I need you to do something for me."

The pale girl frowned, "w-what's that?"

"Are you willing to help Naruto?" She nodded and he released her hand, "then do exactly as I say."

...

Hinata went back to Naruto's house, she didn't want to go to her apartment just yet, plus she had left her stuff at his house. Before she did anything she made sure to feed Kurama then proceed to take a bath. The day was dragging on and night was fast approaching.

The Hyūga got dressed in a white long-sleeved shirt and black sleeping shorts since she had no plans of going anywhere. Her damp feet felt cold against the polished floor as she made her way to Naruto's room. It was just as she'd left it when she woke up, with the duvet cover turned towards the end of the bed and the pillows scattered across it.

She sighed and dragged her feet while hunching over to grab one end of the cover. Getting in bed swiftly she pulled the duvet cover up to her stomach and turned on her side in order to look out the window at the night sky.

Her mind wondered off to Naruto again and she felt her stomach twisting with unidentified emotions. Pulling a pillow towards her, Hinata wrapped her arms around it tightly and inhaled its scent. Her fingers tightened when she smelt his lingering scent and she frowned deeply.

They'd only slept together once and already he was being taken away from her. It wasn't fair...just when she'd found her happy ending Toneri took it away from her. Her blood boiled at the thought of him, she hated him even more now than she ever had. He was her only source of unhappiness and misfortune and he had gone too far.

Loosening her hold on the pillow she looked down at it and thought of Naruto instead. Sparing herself the discomfort of thinking of Toneri. But her thoughts were cut short when her phone started ringing.

Glancing at it on the bedside table she sighed thinking it was Kiba again. She was getting annoyed with his constant calls and refused to answer him. It just wasn't the time. She didn't want to speak to anyone except Naruto...she only wanted him.

What if it's Sasuke though? She asked herself. Sitting up lazily she winced and picked up the vibrating device. Running a hand over her face she squinted and tried to identity the unknown number. With a frown she reluctantly answered the phone and said hello.

"I'm allowed one phone call," she heard from the other side of the phone. Her mood suddenly brightened and her heart pounded in her chest.

"N-Naruto-kun..." Just the person she wanted to talk to.

"Did Sasuke give you a hard time?" He asked concerned about her as usual.

Hinata pulled her knees to her chest and looked down at the duvet. "Stop worrying about me...you're the one who's in trouble."

"I can't help it."

There was a moment of silence where the Hyūga tried to control her emotions that threatened to pour out of her. She felt it, the shivers that rolled down her spine at the sound of his voice and the yearning she had for his presence with her. Her hand tightened around the phone and she sighed softly.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"I should be asking you that," she replied.

Naruto chuckled but she could sense that it was fake. "I'm fine."

She cringed, "how can you be fine when—"

"Hinata," he cut her off. The urgency in his voice rendering her speechless, causing the muscles in her throat to contact and her eyes to fill with tears even though she swore she had none left to shed.

"I...I..." The pale girl tried to find her words, but her outpour of emotions was getting the best of her. She was tired of not getting what she wanted, tired of suffering at the expense of others...when would it be her turn?

"It's okay," Naruto said quietly trying to get her to calm down. "Hinata I'm really fine...as long as you're okay then I'm perfectly fine."

Her heart swelled at the sound of his words. It was unfair. Could she not feel discomfort or unhappiness when he was in trouble? Was it only for him?

"I hate you," she muttered using the back of her hand to wipe her tears.

The blonde smiled and held the phone tighter, "I know..." He sighed. "But I love you."

"Sasuke w-will get you out," she said between sniffles.

The Uzumaki smiled, "yeah."

"And when y-you come back..." She chose her words carefully. "You have to do something for me."

"Anything."

She squeezed her eyes shut, "p-promise to stay with me always."

"Is that it?"

Hinata nodded knowing that he couldn't see her. "Yes."

"Then I promise," he said reassuring her. "I won't ever leave your side...under one condition."

"Which is," she looked at the droplets of rain that began to fall outside through her hazy vision.

"That you'll stop crying," Naruto said having heard her muffled sobs.

Hinata blinked back tears, "and if I can't?"

"Then I'll still stay with you," he replied.

Hinata wiped her nose and took a deep breath, his words soaking into her bones, crippling her emotionally. "Idiot. Y-you should have called someone else," she said changing the topic.

Naruto laughed, "yeah well, I couldn't think of anyone more important to me." An awkward silence took over just then as Hinata thought about his words. She wondered how he could still be romantic while dealing with a delicate case. It was beyond her. "I have to go now," he said, sadness coating his words.

"I'll come and visit."

"Okay. Take care of yourself Hinata."

"You too," was the last thing she said before the call was disconnected. She lowered the phone and stared at it in her pale hands. A cold feeling washed over her just then, the warmth Naruto's voice had provided fading away slowly.

You promised not to cry...

She reminded herself sternly, but what could she do? Everything just seemed so gloomy, including the weather. Her arms wrapped around her legs and she lowered her head onto her knees. Rocking back and forth slightly Hinata tried to hold back her tears.

"Don't cry...Don't cry...D-don't..."

He won't leave me if I do. H-he promised.

The Hyūga inhaled sharply and released a loud sob, she hated it all. When would it end? When would she be able to find peace? When would he stop?

Her phone rang once again and without looking at the caller ID she answered hoping it would be Naruto again. It was far fetched but she had hope.

"Hello?"

"Hinata!" A voice yelled causing her to wince.

It was not Naruto.

Hinata rolled her eyes, "Kiba-kun."

"I've been trying to call you all day, why didn't you pick up?" He asked.

"I-I've just been busy," she replied.

Kiba scoffed, "sure you were."

"I don't think—"

"You're dad's here."

Hinata blinked, her tears vanishing, "w-what?"

"You heard me. Your father's here."
