Demetrius returns to the loft and meets the adorable, but deadly Mikey.

Demetrius didn't do well against Catarina, Magnus or Maxine, and I'm not liking his odds against Alec's son. I'm sure you would agree, my dear reader.

Enjoy.

Mikey is walking to his bedroom when a portal opens by his sister's room. He watches as a stranger steps into the loft then smiles at the youngster, "Ah, just the warlock I was looking for."

"Mikey, come here." Mikey runs to his sister, then stands in front of her. Maxine puts a hand on his shoulder as she takes out her phone, "You need another love potion?"

Demetrius smirks, "No, I'm here to take the boy to his father."

Mikey narrows his eyes, "Daddy or Poppa?"

Maxine rolls her eyes as she remembers that Magnus is in England for a warlock get together. She tells her brother, "Don't talk to him", as she types a text to her other father, Daddy lazy love potion warlock is here.

Mikey nods as he leans against her, "Nobody better hurt Daddy or Poppa."

Demetrius looks around, "So Bane isn't here?"

Maxine's phone beeps. She glances at it.

Daddy: I'm on my way

She nods as she puts her phone in the back pocket of her jeans. She puts her hand on Mikey's shoulder as she glares at their visitor, "No, he's not. And you better go."

Demetrius coldly smiles, "Girl, I'm leaving with Agramon's son."

"Yeah, that's not happening."

"I don't see anyone here who can stop me." Demetrius eyes Mikey, "Frankly, I was expecting Agramon's son to be more aggressive, not so docile."

Maxine rubs her thumb against her brother's shoulder, "You'll be sorry you said that."

"Girl, I am the son of Baal, an ancient one. You are no match for me."

"Blah, blah, blah. If you are so great, why did you pay Poppa for a love potion?"

Demetrius laughs, "Girl, that was just a ruse to get the layout of this." He gestures to the loft.

Her eyes narrow, "Why?"

"Because a soothsayer told me that I would need to know it for the future." He raises his arms, "And here I am."

Mikey looks up at his sister, "What he mean?"

Maxine shakes her head, "Hush." She glares at Demetrius, "What else did this soothsayer tell you?"

"She said that I would meet my destiny at this point of time."

Maxine nods, but anything she might have said is cut off, as the door opens and Alec runs in. He brings his seraph blade out as he looks around the loft. His eyes narrow as he glares at their unwanted guest, "I believe Magnus told you to never return."

Maxine takes her hand off her brother's shoulder as she feels his magic fill the room with their father's arrival. Mikey runs and stands by Alec.

Demetrius sneers, "Shadowhunter, you are still alive?"

Alec raises the blade, "Leave."

"As I told the girl, I am here to bring Agramon's son back to him."

Alec smirks, "Agramon is dead. Guess you didn't get the memo." Maxine giggles.

"Bane killed him?"

"No, his son did."

Demetrius looks at Mikey, "You killed your father?"

Mikey looks up at Alec, "Huh?"

Alec smiles at his son, "It's not important." He glares at Demetrius, "Why do I need to repeat myself with you? I want you out of my home. Now."

Demetrius shakes his head, "Why would the boy kill him?"

Mikey narrows his eyes, "Bad man hurt Daddy, bad man dead."

"You would protect a ShadowHunter against your own kind?"

Maxine jumps as two lamps explode when Mikey throws a fireball at Demetrius. It hits the older warlock in the chest and reduces him to ashes within seconds.

Mikey keeps his right hand raised as his left closes into a fist. He stares at the pile of ashes.

Alec lowers his blade then returns it to his holster. He sits on the floor in front of Mikey and gently turns his chin. Once he has his son's attention, he kisses Mikey's nose, "It's okay, raspberry."

Mikey lowers his hand, "That's what Master said."

Alec takes Mikey's tiny hands in his, "You mean when I was ... his prisoner?" Mikey nods. Alec sighs, "I see." He kisses Mikey's hands as Maxine walks over then sits on the floor next to her father. Alec lets go of his son's hands, then holds Mikey's face, "Men like Demetrius and Master, they only see you as a weapon for them to control. They don't see the sparkly purple eyes or the big smile. Most important, they don't see the little boy who is full of love." He kisses his son's forehead gently, "I love you, raspberry."

Mikey's arms go around his father's neck, "I love you, Daddy."

Maxine giggles as she puts her arms around both of them, "I love both of you."

Alec puts his arms around his children, "Poppa is going to be mad, he missed all the drama."

"And hugging."

Mikey giggles, "No hugging for Poppa."

Alec laughs, "Yes, he is going to be extra mad that he missed out on all the hugging."

Maxine giggles, "Guess I should fix the lamps."

"Yes, Poppa doesn't need to know about that."

"Poor lamps don't do anything wrong but they always go boom."

Mikey giggles, "Sorry lamps."

Maxine kisses her brother's forehead, "I'm sure they forgive you." She stands and walks over to the sofa. She flicks her hand and the lamps are restored.

Alec stands holding Mikey, "Who wants ice cream?"

Mikey raises his hand, "Me, Daddy."

Maxine raises her hand, "Me too, Daddy."

Alec eyes the pile of ashes, "Maxine..."

She nods, "No problem." She walks over and flicks her hand. The ashes are gone. She smiles, "Voila."

Mikey giggles, "Voila."

Alec kisses his son's nose, "Voila, indeed. Thank you, blueberry."

Maxine walks back to her father, "You're welcome, Daddy. Portal?"

"Okay, then we'll walk home."

"Awesome."

Mikey claps his hands, "Awesome."

Maxine opens a portal. Alec puts Mikey on his feet. Maxine and Mikey hold their father's hands as they walk into the portal and leave the loft.

The loft is dark as a portal opens and Magnus steps out. He sighs as he glances at the cable box.

11:06 pm

He and Ragnor spent all night talking. When he finally decided to get some sleep, he could only toss and turn in an empty bed. He decided to come home. Even with the five hour difference, he didn't expect to come home with his family already in bed.

Magnus resets the wards then walks to Maxine's bedroom.

A bunch of warlocks get together at Ragnor's every fifty years or so, to drink tea, eat scones and bitch about Shadowhunters. They haven't seen each other since Alec's grandfather Andrew was in charge of the New York Institute. Robert was dating Maryse at the time. Magnus had a lot to bitch about back then.

Not so much now. He's on friendly terms with most of the current New York Shadowhunters, if not related to them by marriage. He's happily married to the Head of the Institute, so nothing to complain about there either.

In fact, as he listened to the other warlocks, he missed Alec terribly. After everyone else had gone to bed, he got Ragnor caught up, since they haven't spoken since Maxine was four or five. Ragnor told him that he would understand if Magnus went home early. But Magnus insisted that he was there for the usual three day chat fest.

Until he magically changed into his sleep clothes and laid down in an empty bed. It got worse when Magnus closed his eyes and the love rune gave him the loft as Alec's location. Alec was home with their children but without Magnus.

Two hours of tossing and turning and Magnus had had enough. He jumped out of the bed, opened a portal and was home.

He smiles as he looks at Maxine's empty bed. He's not surprised to find that Alec has the children with him to keep him company.

Magnus has done that himself when his husband wasn't home at bedtime.

Magnus walks to his and Alec's bedroom and his smile brightens. Mikey is fast asleep on his father's chest. His right hand rests on Alec's deflect/block rune and his left rests on his sister's arm. Maxine is snuggled against her father.

Magnus takes a step into the bedroom but finds that he can't. He puts out a hand and feels a powerful force field at the doorway. He knows better then to push against Mikey's magic.

Magnus closes his eyes, looks like he's going to be sleeping in an empty bed after all. He opens his eyes and notices Alec looking around the bedroom.

Alec looks at the doorway and smiles, "Magnus."

Magnus smiles. It would seem that the bond between him and Alec is stronger than their son's protective barrier. He whispers, "I can't get in."

Alec nods. He kisses his son's forehead gently, "Mikey, wake up."

Sleepy purple eyes look up at Alec, "Daddy?"

Alec kisses Mikey's nose, "Poppa's here."

Mikey looks around then smiles when he looks at the door, "Poppa."

Magnus waves. He smiles as the barrier disappears and he can enter his bedroom. He walks over to Alec's side of the bed. He takes Mikey's face in his hands and kisses his son's forehead, cheeks and nose, "Love you."

Mikey giggles, "Love you, Poppa."

Magnus kisses Alec, "Hello, husband."

Alec smiles, "And a hello back at you, husband."

Magnus walks around the bed and smiles at a sleepy eyed Maxine. He gets in the bed and kisses her nose, "Love you, blueberry."

Maxine giggles as she snuggles against Magnus, "Love you, Poppa." She closes her eyes.

Magnus holds her close and sighs, "This is more like it." He smiles as he feels Mikey's power once again fill the room. He thinks to himself, "It's a good thing he doesn't put this barrier throughout the loft, I would have been stuck at Ragnor's. Or outside in the cold."

He turns to Alec, "So why... " He stops when he sees that Alec has gone back to sleep. Mikey as well. His right hand once again resting on Alec's neck. His left is hanging off Alec's side. Magnus whispers in Maxine's ear, "Move closer to Daddy."

She wiggles backwards until her back is against her father's arm. Mikey smiles in his sleep as his hand grips her sleeve. Magnus moves closer to Maxine and she rests her head on his chest.

Magnus looks up at the ceiling and smiles. He figures that he'll find out tomorrow what drama he missed. He's not going back to Ragnor's. He has plenty of tea in the loft. He hates scones. More importantly, he doesn't want to hear other warlocks bitch about anything. He gets enough of that drama being the High Warlock of Brooklyn.

He listens to the soft sounds of his family sleeping as his own eyes close and he finally drifts asleep.

This was going to be a one chapter deal. But I typed out the next morning scene and was stuck as to how to end it. Should I end it with Alec leaving for the Institute? Should I continue with Magnus and the kids?

I got this chapter done in one day but then I hit that speed bump and came to a complete stop.

Until last night. As I lay in bed, the rest of the story came to me and it was NOT what I expected. Some of you, my dear readers, will want to kill me and I won't blame you.

So, the next morning scene will give chapter two a fluffy start off point.
