Thor, Tony and Steve were confronting Ultron and the Maximoff twins while Nat, Clint and you were getting into a better position to attack when all hell broke loose.
"Thor, status." I heard Steve call as you caught three men and one of Ultron's robots in a bubble of water and pushed them away.
"The girl tried to warp my mind. Take special care. I doubt a human could keep her at bay."
You blinked in confusion when you realized the ship was falling silent around you. There was a whoosh of air and a man was standing in front of you. The male Maximoff twin, Pietro
"How can you fight with them?" He asked you.
Part of your mind worried about your teammates but you had to concentrate if you were going to be able to stop him from attacking with his speed. Cautious, you brought your hands up reaching out to feel for the water you knew was in his body, "I could ask you the same thing but about HYDRA and now Ultron."
"Stark destroyed our lives. It is only fair that we destroy his world in return." He answered.
You felt as his body gathered and knew he was planning on moving and you brought your hands up further, holding them out in an effort to channel the control you needed to keep him from moving. Water that was a part of a living creature took the ultimate level of control and focus.
You saw the confusion cross his face when he stayed where he was, "What are you doing?"
"Stopping you." You told him.
"How? Why can't I move?" He didn't sound angry, he sounded curious.
"I'm holding the water in your body."
Over your comms you suddenly heard Clint say, "I've done the whole mind control thing. Not a fan."
"Clint?" In that moment your concentration faltered and you lost the hold on Pietro. In a flash he was gone.
You swore and then you were flying through the air. You hit the wall with a grunt, your head slamming hard against it. Your vision flickered again. This was the second time in two days that you had hit your head hard. And this time it left you dazed.
Through the ringing in your ears you faintly heard Clint trying to raise the others. He reached you first, helping you to sit up, his hand coming around to touch gently at the back of your head.
"Are you alright honey," He asked quietly.
You winced when his fingers brushed across a particularly sensitive spot but you said, "Yes, I'm fine. But none of the others are responding anymore. What happened to them?"
Clint helped you to your feet, "I'm pretty sure the woman messed with their heads. I've gotta go and try and help them. Are you sure you are okay?"
"Go, I'm fine." You insisted
His eyes searched your face and then nodded, jogging away as you worked your way slowly to the exit. You got out in time to see Bruce, as the Hulk, running away.
"Awe fuck."
You saw Tony flying in the direction he went. You heard him ask for a lullaby and heard as Clint responded and told him that wasn't going to happen that the entire team was down. You tried to respond and say you could but there was a whoosh of air and Pietro was standing in front of you. He had your earpiece in your hand.
"What do you want?" You asked him, your eyes flicking to his sister as she limped up behind him.
"You should join us."
You snorted, "Excuse me? What makes you think that I would want to join you? You aren't on the right side."
You watched as Wanda moved around to your side, her eyes glowing red as she said, "I can see your pain. I can see that you are like us."
Your vision flickered again and memories surfaced unbiddened to the front of your mind. Memories that you had long tried to suppress. Memories of how you got your powers. You shook your head hard to shove the memories back away.
"I am nothing like you." You told them. You tried to reach for your power, but your head was still fuzzy and you couldn't concentrate enough for that.
"You are." Wanda said.
"You volunteered to be made into what you are. I was stolen and forced." You spit out at her.
"Wanda, we need to leave." Pietro said to his sister. You glanced over your shoulder and saw as Clint came out of the ship with Nat's arm around his shoulder. He was still too far away to do anything and there was no way you would be able to hold them here.
When you looked back, Pietro's arm was around his sister and she said, "He will betray you. You can't trust him."
Before you could ask what that meant they were gone. You sighed and continued to limp towards the jet. You assumed that they were talking about Tony but they were wrong. Over the years you had come to understand Tony. Once upon a time, he might have been someone who didn't care about others. But that wasn't who he was now.
In the Quinjet, you were all suffering, except for Clint, who had managed to avoid the influence of the enhanced who had messed with everyone's head. Steve's face was a mask of pain and hurt, Nat was shaky with a far away look in her eye, Bruce was wrapped tight in a blanket, sitting on the floor in front of one of the seats, Tony looked defeated and Thor was pacing around anxiously.
As Clint flew the jet, you were in the co-pilot's seat, listening quietly as Hill spoke over the phone system.
"The news is loving you guys. Nobody else is. There's been no official call for Banner's arrest but it's in the air." Hill said.
Tony sighed heavily as he pinched the bridge of his nose, "The Stark Relief Foundation?"
"Already on the scene." Hill responded before she asked, "How's the team?"
Tony looked around before he answered, "Everyone's…We took a hit. We'll shake it off."
"Well, for now, I'd stay in stealth mode and stay away from here." Hill said.
"So, run and hide," Tony said and the distaste was clear in his tone.
"Until we can find Ultron, I don't have a lot else to offer." Hill answered.
Tony sighed again as he looked around at everyone, "Neither do we."
He ended the call and came up to the front of the jet, tapping his hand on Clint's seat as he asked, "Hey, you want to switch out?"
"No, I'm good. If you want to get some kip, now's a good time because we're still a few hours out." Clint said.
Tony's forehead furrowed as he asked, "Few hours from where?"
"A safe house." Clint answered Tony looked confused still but nodded and moved away to the back of the jet again.
Clint glanced at you, a look on his face that you couldn't identify. Then he said quietly, "You should really try and get some sleep too."
You snorted, what you had seen playing behind your eyes again, "Clint, I don't think any of us will be getting any sleep any time soon."
