Steve jumped up to where Thor was standing and he held out a hand, watching and waiting to see what it would do. The being turned towards the room at large, it's body altering and changing into wearing clothes of some kind as it floated closer to everyone. Thor set his hammer down and moved forward.

When you tried to move around the twins, Pietro shifted until you were behind him again.

"I'm sorry. That was–odd. Thank you." The being spoke to Thor. It sounded like Jarvis.

Steve stepped forward to address Thor, wanting to know why he would help create this. Thor explained that he had gone because when Wanda had tried to influence his mind he had had a vision. He spoke of a great evil coming and then he pointed at the stone in the middle of the beings head.

"In the middle of it was that."

"What the gem?" Bruce asked.

Thor looked at everyone and said, "It's the Mind Stone. It's one of the six infinity Stones. The greatest power in the universe, unparalleled in its destructive capabilities."

"Then why would you bring–" Steve sounded incredulous.

"Because Stark is right." Thor interrupted.

"Oh, it's definitely the end times," Bruce quipped.

"The Avengers cannot defeat Ultron." Thor said.

"Not alone." The being spoke suddenly.

"Why does your Vision sound like Jarvis?" Steve asked looking between Thor and it.

Tony walked closer still, examining the being, "We reconfigured Jarvis's matrix to create something new."

Steve sighed, "I think I've had my fill of new."

"You think I'm a child of Ultron." the being spoke.

You moved out from behind the twins again, barely registering when Pietro shifted with you, still ranging himself so that he was positioned slightly in front of both you and his sister. The being was addressing Steve.

Then Wanda spoke up, moving out from behind her brother and walking towards the being, "I looked in your head and saw annihilation."

"Look again."

Clint scoffed as he moved forward, his eyes hard as he stared at Pietro and then Wanda before addressing the being, "Her seal of approval means jack to me."

Thor stepped forward again, "Their powers, the horrors in our heads, Ultron himself, they all came from the Mind Stone. And they are nothing compared to what it can unleash. But with it on our side."

"Is it?" Steve demanded before he looked to it, "Are you? On our side?"

It was thinking and then it said, "I don't think it's that simple."

Clint moved over to where you were standing, gripping your arm and pulling you away from Pietro, "Well, it better get real simple real soon." When you glared at him he wasn't looking at you. But he also didn't remove his hand from your arm. For the first time ever you sensed possessiveness in him. He apparently had a real issue with the way that Pietro had been standing and keeping you behind him.

"I am on the side of life. Ultron isn't. He will end it all."

"What is he waiting for?" Tony asked.

"You." was the response.

"Where?" Banner asked.

It was Clint who answered, his hand now resting on your lower back, "Sokovia. He's got Nat there too."

Bruce, mild mannered awkward Bruce, stepped forward his face intense as he stared at it, "If we're wrong about you, if you're the monster that Ultron made you to be…"

"What will you do?" The being asked. When no one answered him he continued, "I don't want to kill Ultron. He's unique and he's in pain. But that pain will roll over the Earth. So, he must be destroyed. Every form he's built, every trace of his presence on the net. We have to act now. Not one of us can do it without the others."

The being spoke as if it was the most reasonable conclusion to come to and you watched as everyone around the room reacted to the sentiment. You looked at Clint before you both turned your attention back to what he was saying, "Maybe I am a monster. I don't think I'd know if I were one. I'm not what you are and not what you intended. So, there may be no way to make you trust me. But we need to go."

The being turned around, lifting Thor's hammer and holding it out to him. The entire room froze in complete and total disbelief for several long heartbeats.

"Well, that's one way to do it." You muttered as Thor took the hammer and everyone looked at each other.

"Right. Well done." Thor followed the being out of the room.

Steve looked around at everyone and said, "Three minutes. Get what you need."

Everyone sprang into action, each heading to their own goal. You were gearing up and listening to Bruce, Tony and Steve as they discussed the importance of taking every single one of Ultron's robots down. You were nervous, in all your time with the team, you always got nervous before every single mission.

"I get first crack at the big guy. Iron Man's the one he's waiting for." Tony said.

The being walked by, casually saying, "That's true. He hates you the most."

You snickered as Tony shook his head before you asked, "Anyone else think it's amusing he decided to emulate his clothes after Thor?"

Out of the corner of your eye, you say as Clint tucked a photograph into his vest. True to Steve's request, you were all in the Quinjet in three minutes and it was taking off.

Pietro and Wanda came over to where you were sitting alone, holding three small spheres of water above your hand and making them dance and spin around each other. It was a nervous tick. .

Pietro reached a hand out and attempted to poke a finger into one of the spheres. You caused it to jump and dance away from him. He grinned at you.

"That is very neat."

"I am sorry." Wanda said.

You turned your head to look at her and asked, "Sorry for what?"

"That I was right." She looked in the direction of where Clint was sitting, his arms braced on his legs and looking down at his feet. You felt a pang in your heart again.

You sighed, "It was not your fault."

"I know. But I am still sorry." Wanda glanced at her brother for a moment with a small smile on her face before she stood and moved away.

"You can control water?" Pietro asked as he continued to try and poke one of the spheres. Amused now, you moved the spheres until they were combined and then you manipulated it to float above his head. He tipped his face back and I couldn't have asked for a better way for him to line up.

I released my control over the water and the sphere splashed over Pietro's face. As you laughed, You looked over and saw that several of the others were watching you now, including Clint. Pietro spluttered and shook his head like a wet dog.

You lifted your hand and in a moment his face and hair were once again dry and you had three spheres of water floating above your hand again.

"What else can you do?" PIetro asked.

The interest he showed made you smile, so you spent some time showing him. You caused a hand-held rainshower, caused it to refract different colors, turned it into a miniature ice sculpture, turned it hot. Everything you did Pietro exclaimed over and every time it sent little butterflies fluttering in your stomach.

"Where do you pull the water from?" He asked once you were done and you had returned the spheres to floating lazily over your hand.

"There is water everywhere." You answered simply.

"Including people." He said. He reached out and took your hand in his, tilting it side-to-side and watching as the water followed.

"Yes, though that is a lot harder to do than any of this stuff is. After all, living beings aren't made completely of water and they have their own systems that control everything." When Pietro didn't release your hand, you switched the water to your free one and set them strobing with different colors.

"My sister, she is strong. But this," He flicked a finger at one of the spheres, "This is both strong and beautiful."

"Like you." He said as he smiled at you.

You laughed, "Pietro, are you flirting with me?"

Pietro grinned disarmingly, "That depends."

Biting your bottom lip to keep from laughing you said, "Depends on what?"

"If it is working." He answered seriously.

Now you did laugh as warmth flowed through you and he lifted your hand to kiss your knuckles and you felt yourself flush.

Someone said your name softly and you looked up to find Clint standing there. Pietro squeezed your hand lightly before he dropped it and stood to move away. Clint watched him go before he took his spot.

"You seem to be getting on well with him." was the first thing he said to you.

"Really?" You said.

"What?"

You rolled your eyes at him, "Do you really think you have any right to be jealous right now?"

"I'm not jealous." Clint said immediately.

"Yeah, sure whatever you say." You leaned back in the seat, resting your head against the backrest and closing your eyes.

"Can we talk?" Clint said.

You opened your eyes to look at him and even though you wanted to say no, you agreed. It was probably better to get this over with.

"If we both make it out of this, what is going to happen with us?" He asked you.

"Nothing is going to happen with us Clint." You said quietly.

"Why?"

"Because you love your wife."

"I don't understand."

You rolled your eyes and shifted until you were facing him better, "Clint, when you make it out of this, you need to return to your family and try and fix things with your wife if she wants to do so."

"But what if she doesn't."

"Then she doesn't and you will have to deal with that."

"Would that change anything?" Clint asked.

"No, it wouldn't." You saw the question so you just continued, "Clint, we were never going to work long term."

"How can you possibly know that? Can you tell the future?" His try for humor fell flat.

"Because you couldn't be honest with me."

"So, if I had told you that I had a wife and kids we could work out?"

"No."

Clint rubbed his hand over his face, "I'm so confused. You know why I didn't tell you."

"And I understand why. I get it. I truly do. But Clint, successful relationships can't work unless there is honesty and our relationship didn't have that. But you have that with Laura. Yes, you betrayed her, but you were honest with her about it. Your relationship with her has something ours never did. Which is why you should try and fix things if you can."

Clint studied you, mulling over your words as you leaned your head back against the seat again and closed your eyes. Clint rested a hand on your arm for a moment and then he was gone. You tried to ignore the way that your heart hurt when he went.
