The fight with P'Li has been taken from the transcripts. I only changed a little bit. So credit goes to the writers for that.

A/N: This is a reposting from my AO3 account (linked on my profile) I am going to be posting on here not as quickly, so if you want more chapters sooner, visit the link.

"We're pinned down." Su said, jumping behind the shelter her sister had created. She looked over and saw Lin beside her.

"I'm gonna draw her fire. You take her out."

"Lin. No." Su said desperately.

Another combustion beam is sent after them by P'Li, causing them to shield themselves from rubble.

Lin looked at her younger sister, "I love you." She touched her sister's cheek, before running from the rock shelter and leapt to the terrain in P'Li's line of sight. "Come and get me, you Third-Eyed Freak!"

Lin leapt up the slope to avoid P'Li's combustion beam before retaliating with an earth slab. P'Li destroyed the slab while Su glanced out looking for the right moment to strike. Lin sent two more earth slabs to P'Li, who dodged and retaliated with combustion beams.

The police chief dodged the attack and bent an earth wall to protect herself from another beam, but was knocked toward the edge when it exploded. Lin propped herself up. While P'Li prepared to finish Lin, Su ran out from behind her cover and bent her armor toward P'Li's head, containing the blast.

"Lin!" Su called running over to her sister. When she got to her she knelt beside her.

"Get Kor-ra," Lin rasped out.

Su frowned at her sister's pale, hazy complexion. "Lin what's wrong?"

"I.. don't know." Lin said, trying to blink through her growing fogginess. "Help.. Korra" she managed to get out before passing out.

Su tried not to panic. Glancing around she noticed one of her guards and beckoned them forward. "Protect her, we are not sure what's wrong." Once the guard nodded, she ran off to the upper part of Laghima's Peak and faced Zaheer herself.

But she was again shocked when he stepped backwards off the cliff and then started to fly away, Korra passed out over his shoulder.

Su quickly made her way back to her sister, and helped the guard get her down the peak's rocky side to the valley below.

They set up a temporary camp to treat the wounded. Su bent a raised earthen bed from the ground and motioned for the guard to lay Lin down. Su sat beside Lin, holding her hand when she heard what sounded like Bolin's bird calls he had practiced earlier. Su stood and looked up in the direction of the calls. A small bison flew toward the camp, landing heavily and tossing Bolin off the mount. Su rushed forward to help the rest of Team Avatar.

"Tenzin! You're okay!" She said, helping him off the sky bison.

"Suyin?" He asked, frowning in confusion. "Where's Lin?"

Su turned and motioned to her sister laying down, a medic looking over her now.

"What happened?"

"I don't know! We were fighting the combustion lady and the wall she created protected her from the beam, but it pushed her back causing her to fall down to the ground. She told me to protect Korra and then passed out. She hasn't woken. I didn't see anything more than scraps and she looked fine otherwise. I-"

"Breath Su. I am sure she will be fine. Perhaps she just overexerted herself for once." Tenzin tried to comfort the younger Beifong sister, but even she could tell he didn't believe his words; Lin had been through worse fights than the one at the top before.

Once Kai told them that he had seen where the airbenders had been taken to and Oogi arrived, Su asked Kuvira to stay with Lin and the other injured guards.

"I need you to protect them. The medic said they couldn't find anything seriously wrong with Lin, but I trust you to be with her while I can't."

"I've got it Su, I will make sure she is safe. You take care as well" Kuvira said, nodding at her adoptive mother.

Su watched from Oogi's saddle as they take off. She couldn't help but feel something was very wrong with her sister.

Once everything had settled, with Korra and the airbenders recovered, they quickly went back to the encampment with their recovered airship.

"I will call ahead to my Niece and Nephew at the Northern Water Tribe. I feel they are our best hope for getting quick medical attention for Korra, Tenzin, Kya, Bumi, and Lin." Tonraq said.

"I agree, Asami, please set course for Agna Qel'a, capital of the Northern Tribe." Kuvira said. Su had left her in charge, while taking over tending to her sister. Asami nodded, and took a stand at the steering, slowly turning the ship North.

Tonraq headed over to the radio, and tuned it to the frequency that was for the direct line of the palace. Being their Uncle, and Chief of the Southern Tribe had its perks. Luckily they were close enough the airship's shorter range radio could reach.

Su followed the healer and Kuvira, who was carrying Lin, into a healing room at the palace.

"Her armour will need to be removed before you place her in the healing bath." The healer advised, heading off the side to retrieve some supplies from the cupboard.

Su bent off Lin's armour while Kuvira held Lin in place, only adjusting slightly to help ease the armour off. Lin was then placed in the water, leaving only her face above.

Kuvira stepped out of the room, while Su knelt by her sister's head.

The healer came over and started to check over Lin, healing the scrapes and bruises quickly.

He frowned when he was done, and performed another session over her abdomen.

"What is it? Does she have internal damage?"

He sat back on his feet. "How old is your sister?"

"She is.." She took a moment to think "51."

"Do you know if she has a partner?"

"I-I don't know, we only just reconnected last week." Su frowned in confusion. "What does that have to do with what happened?"

"Your sister has overexerted herself. It is very common in pregnancies, especially so when a woman is above the age that is usually deemed healthy for pregnancy."

Su sat there in shock. "I-what?" came out as a small screech.

"Your sister is about 4 months pregnant, according to my scan."

"How? She is 51… I'm 45 and already starting to experience menopause… Surely your scan is wrong." Su was overwhelmed with this knowledge. "She doesn't look 4 months along."

"I assure you I triple checked. If from what I heard is correct, she is Chief of Police in Republic City, it would account for why she is barely showing. Many women who are very fit, experience smaller pregnancy bellies. Has to do with the strong abdominal muscles." He reached in and picked Lin up and placed her on the bed, bending the water off her and back to the tub. The healer then lifted up her tank and pushed her pants down a little so that he could examine her full torso. He lightly applied pressure in different spots.

"Here, feel this. You can feel that her lower torso is harder than this spot should be." He guided Su's hand to rest just below Lin's belly button. Now that her shirt was gone, Su could make out a small swell right where he was guiding her hand.

"Is… is the baby okay? I- oh spirits, we fought last week, and she has been under so much stress the last couple months… Not to mention today. Oh, Lin." Su started tearing up.

"The baby is okay. It was in just a little distress, yes, but with her body shutting down like this, it is trying to naturally help the baby. Your sister should wake within an hour or two."

"How-how safe is this pregnancy for her? What if… if she doesn't want it? My sister, as far as I know, never wanted children." Su asked, carding her fingers through Lin's dark steel locks.

"As long as she takes it easy, and stays relaxed, she should be okay. It will be a high risk pregnancy, just due to her age. But otherwise your sister is in fairly good physical condition, much better than others her age." He then sighed. "Unfortunately, it is too late into the pregnancy to abort the fetus now. If she were younger, it may be possible. But with her age, it can pose a bigger risk to the mother to abort a fetus over 3 months. She will have no choice but to carry through with the pregnancy."

Su nodded her head.

The healer fixed Lin's clothes, and laid a pelt over her for warmth. He then moved to clean up the bath and the little amount of tools he had brought over.

Before leaving he turned to Su. "Let us know when she wakes, one of us healers will come in and check on her before we release her."

"Wait, could… could I ask a favour? I need you to contact someone for me."
