Miracle had also dropped her weapon. She had never held a gun before and still hit the target on the first try. Now she was almost shocked. Optimus joined the other Autobots and said, "It's okay, get back to work."

The Autobots all dropped their weapons and turned away. Only Miracle was still standing.

"Miracle?" Optimus asked.

"What?" she asked a little absentmindedly.

"Calm down, it's all over."

Miracle let out a relieved breath: "Yes."

"Thanks for your help. That was a really good shot."

"Well, for the first try..."

Optimus looked at the young girl in astonishment. He could hardly believe that today was the first time she had held a gun in her hand. A weapon that contained Autobot technology at that.

"Did you get that from your dreams about using a weapon, too?" Optimus asked.

"No," Miracle said, picking up the cannon to put it back where she got it from.

Optimus followed her. Every Autobot that Miracle passed looked at her skeptically or whispered to another Autobot. Miracle didn't quite understand that. Did she do something wrong?

After she had taken the cannon away, Optimus invited her to his quarters for a word. She had the feeling that invisible eyes were watching her every step up to Optimus' quarters. Once there, Optimus offered his hand to pick her up. This gesture was completely new to Miracle and she looked a little skeptically at the big robot that had put his huge hand, which was as big as herself, on the floor next to her.

"Go ahead, climb up. Nothing will happen to you." Optimus said.

Miracle did as the Prime asked and he then lifted her onto an oversized desk on which a few files were neatly stacked. He put her right on the table and he sat down on the oversized sofa opposite. Everything in this room was tailored to Optimus' size and Miracle felt like a mouse in it.

The Prime looked at her intently. That look from him almost gave Miracle goosebumps.

"I guess you're not aware of what just happened," he began.

Miracle crossed one leg and rested her head on her bent arm. "You mean my dream has come true?"

Optimus shook his head, "That's not really what I meant."

Miracle looked at the Prime helplessly: "Then I don't know."

"You saved me," Optimus said.

"Yes and?"

"By protecting me, you triggered something."

"And what?"

"Did Bumblebee tell you that a lot of the Autobots here have a human partner?"

Miracle nodded, "You mean... like Sam and Bumblebee? Clear."

"By protecting me, you proved yourself to be my partner."

Now Miracle's jaw dropped, speechless. She stared at the Prime seated in front of her.

She? The partner of the leader of the Autobots? Never! she thought.

"We've been connected for a lot longer than I knew. By seeing me in your dreams. I felt the whole time that my partner was waiting for me somewhere. And finally... you found me."

"But- I mean... Sure, because I've seen you in my dreams, I feel like I've known you for years, not just a day. But don't you think that's going a little too far?"

"No. I think fate wanted it that way."

Miracle sighed, "And what should I do as your partner? I mean... you're such a giant robot... And I... I'm just a small, weak human."

"No, you shouldn't listen to what Starscream said."

"But he's right."

"No he didn't. You are a person with an extraordinary gift. With great talent and great courage. You've already proven that to me."

"And what awaits me now as your partner?"

Optimus nervously scratched the back of his head, "Well, we haven't officially partnered yet. You know, there's a ritual..."

Miracle looked up at him anxiously. She had heard before rituals connected with black magic. Brutal animal slaughter, drinking blood, ect.

An uncomfortable shiver went through her body.

"Oh, don't worry, it's nothing serious. It's just that it's now a custom around here for the Autobots and their partners to come up with some sort of special mission for their new team."

Miracle sighed, "Special mission?"

"Yes."

"And when?"

"I do not know that yet. Who knows, maybe your dreams will tell you more."

Optimus didn't dare to tell Miracle more about it. Otherwise she probably wouldn't let herself be persuaded. Because his buddys clearly had fun teasing a new partner team. He still knew exactly what those before him had to go through. For example, walking around in a partner look for a week or having to spend three days chained together. In this way, the Autobots wanted to strengthen the connection between the two parties. Optimus had only ever overheard the plans in passing. He didn't think much of making fun of his comrades. Unlike the others. He knew that this time he was being kept out of there as a matter of course. Otherwise it would have been unfair. So he just had to wait until he got word from the Autobots. In the meantime, Optimus tried to get to know his new partner as well as possible. But that was anything but easy. She was vehemently silent about her past. But Miracle did that for a good reason. She wanted to put her past behind her and wanted to avoid being kicked out after all if Optimus found out that she originally came from the streets. During that time they spent as much time together as possible. Miracle learned a lot about the Autobots and their planet, Cybertron. All she knew was that the planet had been destroyed, but how it had happened she hadn't known. Tears welled up in her eyes as Optimus told her how he had drifted through space, homeless.

Those times with Optimus were always very short. He only had an hour or two of free time before he had to go to another meeting or patrol. When Miracle was alone, she devoted herself to her drawings. She was well known among the Autobots and the people here by now. Almost every day someone came to her with a request for a portrait. And Miracle liked to do it while pondering her "Special Mission" with Optimus.
