During this chase through the hangar, Miracle suddenly bumped into Optimus' leg.
"What's going on here?" he asked Miracle.
Miracle snorted with laughter and pointed at the pink Autobot that had been seen by his red twin brother. Of course, he couldn't hold himself in view of the sight of his brother. The pink Autobot angrily punched his brother, who fell to the ground laughing, clutching his stomach.
Optimus looked down at Miracle reprovingly and said, "That's not funny! You shouldn't fool around with the task I've given you."
Miracle flinched and looked up at Optimus, concerned: "B-but Optimus... I just wanted..."
"You wanted to get back at him for the mission, I know. But I think it's a bit too hard that he's being punished twice, after all, I've already told him to clean the cells."
"Maybe, but we were punished twice, weren't we? After all, he made a pretty bad ass of us both. Now I wanted him to know what it's like."
"But Miracle..."
"Do not worry. In a week he gets his old paint back. Promised."
"For real?"
"You have my word."
"Well then...then I should definitely ask Bumblebee to keep an eye on those two before they destroy the hangar," Optimus said, looking at the twins fighting.
The two could only be tamed to some extent by Bumblebee. A few minutes later Bumblebee was already there and gave them both a smack to calm them down. Then he too burst out laughing when he saw the pink twin.
Optimus just shook his head. He didn't approve of Miracle's action, although he could understand why she had acted the way she did. So he let Miracle carry out her plan, even if he didn't like it. He trusted Miracle. And that's how it should be with partners. Miracle was in the quarters that evening, as so often before Optimus, and decided to wash her hair when he wasn't there. For this purpose, she took off her shirt so that she bent over the bathtub with a bare torso. She fumbled for the shower head and let the water run, wetting her shoulder-length brown hair. Then she shampooed herself. She let the shampoo sit for a while before rinsing it out. Now, while she was about to wash her hair, Optimus came into the quarters. He heard that Miracle was probably in the bathroom and thought nothing of it. After all, people have a strong awareness of hygienie. So he sat down on the sofa and waited. Suddenly Miracle slipped the shower head in the bathroom. There was quite a bang and Miracle cried out in shock. Optimus now forgot everything he knew about human habits and stormed into the bathroom in concern. Miracle was lying halfway over the edge of the bath, fumbling for a towel. But Optimus did not notice this out of concern and called out: "Miracle, what happened?!"
Miracle wiped her face with the towel when she heard Optimus' voice. She stood up slowly, holding the towel in front of her chest and blushing all over her face. She stood there, startled, because Optimus had his cannon trained on her. Realizing there was no danger, Optimus lowered the cannon. Miracle, who had been standing quite blushed up until now, grabbed the closest item she could grab (in this case, an empty shampoo bottle) and threw it at Optimus' head. She screamed, "GET OUT!"
Optimus now stepped out of the bathroom, embarrassed. He'd completely forgotten how important people's privacy is. Miracle slammed the door behind him.
"I can't belive that!" she grumbled to herself as she dried her hair. She changed into her pajamas, then wrapped her damp hair in a dry towel. With a brush in her hand she stepped out of the bathroom. Optimus sat on the sofa, slightly embarrassed. Miracle stopped right in front of him and looked up at him. With her hands on her hips, she said, "Don't you Autobots know that people are embarrassed to be seen naked by others? Especially when this also happens with different genders who have no intimate relationship whatsoever!"
"I am sorry. I thought you might have been attacked." Optimus said in embarrassment.
"What? Here?! The Decepticons would have to be pretty stupid to try that."
"Sorry, that will never happen again. Promised. From now on, I'll avoid the bathroom when you're in it. I'll knock first to make sure. All right?"
Miracle nodded: "Yes, that sounds okay to me. Tell me, do you have a hair dryer here too?"
Optimus got up and took a pack from Miracle's shelf. He handed it down to her, because Miracle couldn't have reached that far up.
It was a new hair dryer still in its box.
"Thanks. You really thought of everything." Miracle said as she pulled the hair dryer out of the cardboard box.
"Well, we've had enough to study you humans. I was really surprised at how different the genders are between you." Optimus said as he sat down on the sofa again. Miracle sat across from him on her bed and was brushing her hair.
Then she went looking for an outlet. Optimus pointed directly down next to her bed. There was one there. She hooked up the hair dryer to blow dry her hair. While Miracle slept, Optimus became more and more concerned about her past. He wanted to respect that Miracle didn't want to talk about it. But how was he supposed to protect her, how was he really going to be her partner if she didn't tell him where she came from? Optimus knew he couldn't help. He decided to ask her again the next morning. Unfortunately, it would not come to that, as Ratchet had reported to Optimus that Decepticons had appeared in the city. Optimus immediately set off with a couple of Autobots. When Miracle woke up, she found a note on her desk. It said:
"I need to talk to you about something urgently.
Before that, I'm still on a mission. Stay in the building until I get back.
Optimus"
Miracle sighed. It was probably about her past again. Optimus had often wanted to ask her about it in the last few days, but she had been able to cleverly deflect the subject each time. But it seemed like she wouldn't be able to do that much longer. Optimus probably already knew that Miracle didn't want to talk about it. So Miracle went through the hangar to the canteen to get her breakfast there. There she met Bumblebee.
"Hello Miracle," said the yellow Autobot, "Sam got the picture. He was very happy about it and asked me who painted it. He asked if you could do a portrait of his daughter too. She is just a year old and her name is Lisa."
"What? Oh sure. If you have a picture of her, that's no problem." Miracle said something to herself.
"Are you saying you don't need a model?" Bumblebee asked.
Miracle smiled sheepishly, "Not really."
"Well, because Sam said he'd be over next month. With his family."
"Oh, I see! Then he should come. I can imagine that you are really looking forward to it."
"Yes!" said Bumblebee, jumping happily into the air. This caused a small earthquake that knocked Miracle off her feet. She landed hard on her behind.
"Hey, watch out, you hyperactive Autobot!" she said as she got up and brushed off her clothes.
"Oh, I'm sorry," Bumblebee said.
"How about we go for a little walk outside since you're already that hyperactive?"
"Oh, yes!" Bumblebee said happily.
Miracle grabbed her binder. She thought maybe she'd find a good subject out there for her next drawing. Bumblebee then lifted the girl up onto his shoulder and, sitting on his shoulder, carefully walked out of the hangar into the woods. It was great for Miracle to see the world from an Autobot's perspective. As a bird flew by close above her head, she felt the draft of air caused by the bird.
"Wait a minute..." Miracle said thoughtfully, "that was no ordinary bird," she said. Suddenly the bird came back and grabbed Miracle. He pulled her off Bumblebee's shoulder and took her higher into the sky.
Miracle always thought flying was fun. But she didn't think being kidnapped by a Decepticon was funny. Bumblebee followed the bird and had his cannon aimed on it. However, he didn't dare to shoot because he didn't want to hurt Miracle. Optimus would never forgive him for that. So Bumblebee had no choice but to follow the Decepticon bird.
"Help! Bumblebee!" Miracle exclaimed as the bird disappeared behind the clouds with her.
The Decepticon bird thought he had easy prey with Miracle when she started kicking and biting the bird.
"Hey! You stupid insect! Stop it or do you want to die?!"
At the time Optimus just came back. Bumblebee had rushed back for help. In doing so, he met his leader.
"Bumble Bee? What's going on?" Optimus asked.
"The Decepticons, they kidnapped Miracle!" Bumblebee said in panic.
"What?!"
"A birdlike Desepticon took her."
"I understand."
Optimus pulled his flying skills out of a trailer to give chase.
"Ratchet, you will give me the coordinates of her whereabouts," Optimus said to his medical officer.
"How am I supposed to do that?" Ratchet asked.
"Miracle would have to carry a watch. There is a transmitter in her."
"Good Optimus, I'm in."
Meanwhile, the bird-like Desepticon hadn't gotten far with Miracle. His extremely unruly cargo had finally forced him to land. Unfortunately, the bird desepticon had landed on a high mountain from which there was no escape for Miracle.
"You stupid insect! You almost severed the circuitry on my right foot!" said the Desepticon.
"Do you really think I would be kidnapped that easily? I may be human, but I have great willpower!" said Miracle. The Desepticon was fed up with this annoying girl that almost seriously damaged him. He stepped towards her and urged her to the edge of the mountain. Miracle had no choice but to back down, as this Decepticon's beak looked quite dangerous. Finally she stood at the edge of the mountain. Below her was a fairly deep gorge. She couldn't even see the ground, she was so deep.
"Do you really think it's wise to throw me down here? I don't think Megatron would be keen on that," said Miracle.
But before the Desepticon could reply, he was suddenly shot at. Miracle immediately threw herself on the ground to avoid being hit. The Desepticon whirled around with such speed that its tail pushed Miracle into the gorge. With a shrill scream, Miracle fell down. She somehow managed to get on a ledge
clinging while the battle was going on above her. It was of course Optimus who had opened fire on the Desepticon. At first he didn't even notice what had happened to Miracle, as the Desepticon went straight to the attack. But for Optimus, this bird-like Desepticon wasn't much of a problem. He grabbed his neck and tail and tore him apart. He threw the destroyed Desepticon to the ground and looked around for his mate.
She was nowhere to be seen. Then he felt her heartbeat. It was beating pretty fast by human standards.
"Miracle?! Where are you?" he shouted.
"Here!" Miracle called.
She felt her strength slowly running out. She would soon fall down. But then she heard Optimus' voice and she knew that he would save her. That's when Miracle heard a familiar hiss and the sound of engines overhead. She suddenly felt secure footing under her feet. That was Optimus' hand. She dropped onto it and Optimus flew out of the ravine holding her.
"Thank you Optimus. It really was at the very last second," Miracle said.
"Luckily I was in time. I don't know what I would have done if I had lost you." Optimus said. Miracle smiled up at the large Autobot flying through the air with her. This is what flying should feel like. For the first time in her life, Miracle felt truly free and carefree. Up here you could really forget all your worries. Miracle burst out laughing happily as Optimus did some somersaults in the air for fun. Finally, Optimus landed in a beautiful meadow. Miracle didn't know where they were, but she didn't care either. She was still completely intoxicated from the flight with Optimus. Optimus carefully set Miracle down on the meadow. He folded his wings and sat down next to her.
"Miracle, I think it's about time you told me the truth," Optimus said finally, just as Miracle crouched down in the meadow to pick some flowers.
She now looked up at the red/blue Autobot and said, "I don't know what you're talking about. I don't remember lying to you."
Optimus gently took the girl again with his huge hand.
"No, if it were only that. But you don't say anything. I don't know who you are, how is our partnership supposed to work?"
Miracle looked down in embarrassment. Now came the moment of truth. She couldn't help but tell Optimus everything. She knew that if necessary he wanted to keep her in this deserted place until she spoke up. Miracle took a deep breath and told him everything. How she grew up on the streets, why she ended up in the home. About the fire she foresaw and how she ended up back on the streets and from there was sent to Presidents. She also showed Optimus the emerald, part of which was missing. She now wore it on a chain around her neck.
"I hope that maybe one day I'll find my real parents with it. I don't have anyone else." Miracle said.
Optimus listened to her in silence. From the outside he appeared as if he were calm itself. But inside he felt a sharp pain in the spark that his partner had had such a hard life. When she finished, Miracle didn't dare look into Optimus' optics. Surely that was it now. She would probably be thrown out, like it had been in the youth center. Although she knew that Optimus had had a difficult life too, she believed that it was all over now. After all, she came from a class that lay even lower than the lower class.
But Optimus said nothing. He didn't quite know what to say. He never thought Miracle and he were so alike. Like him, she had long been homeless and without a family. Suddenly he felt a tear run out of his optics. Miracle looked up at Optimus, startled. She hadn't expected such a reaction. Miracle pulled out her handkerchief to catch the tear. She didn't want her partner to start rusting. The tear was so big that it completely soaked Miracle's handkerchief. She had to wring it out.
"Excuse me. I don't know what got into me." Optimus said.
"That's fine. It's better to let your feelings run free than to hold them in. Then something builds up, you know? I know what I'm talking about." Miracle said.
She sighed deeply. Optimus cleared his throat and said, "Thank you for telling me everything. Now I understand you much better." Miracle now knew that Optimus had no intention of throwing her out. On the contrary. He had almost closed her in the Spark a little more than before. Optimus put Miracle back down as she wanted to pick some more flowers to brighten up her quarters. When she thought he was big enough, she climbed back onto Optimus' hand. Optimus unfolded his wings again and flew them back to base.
