"Here's another mistake you made; this sentence should start with "Ce passage illustre le point de l'auteur dans—", not "Ce passage illustre le point de le hauteur dans—"
Ritsuka had no idea how it happened (that was a lie) but he somehow ended up being tutored by his senior after bumping into her at an out-of-the-way cafe.
After she decided to move her belongings to his table, much to his reluctance and embarrassment, Ciel had begun by reading his handwritten notes and pointing out his mistakes. A half-hour had passed since then and they hadn't even gotten into the actual book he was supposed to be reading; Ciel had just been correcting the notes he had taken about what his Literature professor had said during the last few lectures.
Due to not being completely 100% certain with what his professor had said and him also being a fast speaker, Ritsuka had made a pretty noticeable amount of mistakes in his notes.
"Hmm…." She hummed as she read the remaining pages, "I think that's all. That's not too bad, really." She handed his notes back with a smile. "How long have you been learning French?"
"About six months now," Ritsuka answered.
"I see… As I said, it's not too bad. You did a decent job," she complimented him. "Anyway, we can actually move on to what you're studying. From your notes, you're reading Les Misérables Volume II, right?"
"That's right, but—" He tried to tell her that he didn't need any more help but couldn't thanks to Ciel already rummaging through her bag for something.
"I know I have… Oh, here it is! Tada!" Ciel loudly exclaimed while showing him a book identical to the one he had in his bag. "I assume it's the same edition you have. Pretty lucky that I happen to be carrying my copy with me, right?"
"Um, senpai?" She wouldn't mind if he called her that, right? Well, too late now.
"Yeah?"
"Exactly what courses are you taking?" Ritsuka was 99% sure that she wasn't taking Literature too.
"Oh, that's a secret," she playfully winked at him. "Anyway, where do you want to begin?"
"Actually, I don't really need help with this par—" Ritsuka didn't finish what he wanted to say again, this time from Ciel intimidating him into silence by narrowing her eyes. "Uh… Part 2."
"Good. Just let me help you; I really don't mind."
Sometime later…
"Hmm… I think this should do for your assignment," Ciel said as she closed her book. "Do you have any more questions? Don't worry. I won't bite."
Despite her saying that, Ritsuka still felt nervous about asking her anything so he told her he didn't have any.
"You sure?"
"Yes, I can do this on my own for now," Ritsuka feigned a smile to try and convince her.
"Hmm…" She stared hard at him before— "Alright." —shrugging. She then glanced at her wristwatch and a look of mild shock appeared. "Oh, is it that time already?"
"Do you have to leave?"
"Unfortunately, yes," Ciel sighed, "I have work so I gotta leave. What about you?"
"Well…" He glanced at his own watch. "I have to go home soon too. Mom asked me to make dinner for my sister and myself again."
"Does… Are you two usually alone for dinner?"
"Most of the time," Ritsuka answered honestly. He didn't have hard feelings over it since he understood his parents were busy. However, he wasn't sure if his sister felt the same way. She was already having a tough time with the move already and being left alone like that must be hard on her.
"I see… Well, in any case, I better get going," Ciel said while packing her things, "Who knows, maybe we'll bump into each other again."
Ritsuka had mixed feelings about that. On the one hand, he liked Ciel enough and she genuinely was helpful; on the other hand, he'd rather not inconvenience her any more than he already was.
"See you soon!" She waved goodbye as she left the table while Ritsuka began to organise his belongings.
A minute later, he got up too and went over to the counter to pay— "Ce n'est pas nécessaire, monsieur. La dame avec qui vous étiez a déjà tout payé." —only to be told that Ciel had already paid for it… most likely.
As soon as he stepped inside his family's apartment, Ritsuka was greeted by the sound of the tv playing in the living room.
"I'm home!"
"Welcome back," the tired voice of his sister, Ritsuko, came from the couch. As usual, she was lazily lying on it and watching whatever was on. "How was your day?"
"It was… good." Ritsuka thought about his answer for a moment. It wasn't not fun, at least. Leaning against the back of the couch, he looked down at his sister before asking, "What about you?"
An unintelligible groan from her told Ritsuka all he needed to know. He patted her on the head to reassure her but that only served to annoy her. "Can you not? I'm not a kid anymore."
"Sorry, sorry." Ritsuka shook his head while stifling a laugh at her annoyment. "You have any specific requests for later? I'm making dinner tonight."
"I'm fine with anything. Go wild or something." He really shouldn't be surprised at her answer; this was his sister he was talking about. "Just nothing spicy, you know I hate that." That was an unneeded remark, Ritsuka wasn't planning on it in the first place.
As he went into the kitchen and started cooking dinner, he thought about his tiring day again. Specifically, his new nice and rather strict acquaintance which, as mentioned before, he had mixed feelings on. However, he put those thoughts in the back of his head and continued talking.
A/N: Well, next chapter's up and I'm not dead yet. Then again, I didn't mark this as a crossover with Tsukihime on FFN so the purists there don't know yet. Anyway, I'm gonna work on my mainfic for a bit (which also has RxC somehow) so see ya all next time!
