Goodbye for now

chapter 7
.
"Mr. Grey... where are you? Aurora needs you so..." Gail uttered, and caressed the little girl's cheek, hoping and praying for Christian to come back home safely." Please, come back home soon."
While Gail sat on Aurora's bed, she wondered where the guys could be right now. What were they doing? Have they found Christian? Or at least discovered more clues, so they could finally find him?
She had no idea really, because the latest text she received from Sawyer was approximately thirty minutes ago.
Gail grabbed her phone from her pocket, and checked if he or one of the two men had sent her a text message or left a voice mail.
"No, nothing" she uttered, and it was then, when Gail heard the doorbell ring.
At hearing that, she reluctantly got up from Aurora's bed, and gave her a kiss on the forehead.
"Who could it be?" she whispered, and hastily walked through the hall, down the stairs and towards the front door.
It couldn't be the guys, because Sawyer had a copy of the house key.
"Hold your horses" she hissed, because the person on the other side of the door kept pressing the door bell impatiently.
But before opening the door, Gail looked at the monitor of the high-end security system, the one that Christian had bought just a week earlier.
(He wanted them to feel safe at home, especially when he wasn't around)
"Who in the freaking..." she muttered, when her eyes landed on the screen.
She saw three men and one woman at the front door, all four wearing, what seemed to be a bullet proof vest with an emblem that says FBI.
What?! FBI?! What was the FBI doing at Mr. Grey's front door this late?
"Mrs. Jones! OPEN UP, PLEASE!" she heard the female say." I'm Special Agent Davenport from the FBI, and we need you to cooperate"
"How do I know you're really the FBI?" Gail questioned from inside the mansion.
"Our badges... please look" She said, and held it up in front of the camera." Open the door... Aurora Grey might be in grave danger right now!"
The second Gail heard the woman mention her little princess' name, the hairs on the back of her neck instantly stood up.
Aurora is in danger?!
Without hesitation, she unlocked the door and looked at the Special agent questioningly." Why is she in danger? Does it have to do with her father?"
"We are not at liberty to say, ma'am..." Agent Davenport told her." Where is the child?"
Gail had tears in her eyes, and a confused look on her face." But what will happen now? Please, tell me?"
"We will bring the child to safety, ma'am" another special agent said." Bring her to us... now"
"Wait, wait" Gail said, while tears rolled down her cheeks." Her father is not home, but I can call her uncle Luke... maybe he can go along with Aurora"
She didn't want her little girl to be alone with strangers." Or can I go with her?"
"Mrs. Jones... first things first." Agent Davenport ordered, the expression on her face stern." Get the child right now!"
"Alright... I'll wake her up, and bring her to you," She told them, and went up.
Barely ten minutes later, Aurora and Gail walked down the stairs.
Gail hastily had shoved some clothes, snacks, a blanket and 'Nijntje' in her favorite backpack.
Aurora was still sleepy, and asked." Where are we going, Gail? Who are those people? Where's daddy?"
With all her might, Gail pushed back her tears." You will be safe with them, sweetie" she told her, while holding her hand oh so tightly." Go with them, please. They are from the FBI"
"You're not coming with me? Uncle Luke, will he be there too?" Aurora asked, her lips trembling heavily, tears pooling in her eyes.
"Yes" Special agent Davenport answered the question for Gail." Your uncle will be there too, Aurora"
In response, Gail gave Davenport a devastated look, her tears flowing.
She barely was able to give Aurora a proper hug goodbye, when the other special agent, called Perkins, grabbed Christian's daughter and whisked her away.
And just like that, they were gone...
While soft sobs escaped her lips, Gail sank down onto the threshold of the front door, not believing that everyone she loved with all her heart, had left her.
She immediately thought about Manny... After they received the horrible news that Mrs. Grey was dead, it broke all of them.
However, there was one person who felt most guilty about Ana being killed... and that person was Manny.
He was Gail's fiancé and permanent chauffeur to the Greys. He once told her that he felt guilty, because he never should've let Ana go back into the building that fateful night.
Gail tried reasoning with him, even Sawyer did, but no matter what anyone said, that guilty feeling slowly but gradually had eaten at him from the inside out.
After she was informed by the Police that Manny had died, due to injuries from the car accident, her whole world collapsed.
And now, Aurora and Christian have left her too!
At the moment, Gail was absolutely devastated... She couldn't comprehend why all of this was happening, the gnawing ache in her heart unbearable.
"Why?" she whispered, and sobbed aloud...
It was then, when her phone rang loudly. Gail felt awful, and almost didn't answer the call.
However, something told her to do it.
Unknown number? Who could it be?
"Hello?"
"Gail, it's me"
As she heard that oh so familiar voice, she got up on her feet in a flash." Mr. Grey! Where are you? The guys are looking for you! And..."
"Listen to me carefully, Gail"
"Yes, sir"
"You need to tell Sawyer to stop looking for me" she heard him say.
"Wh- what? I uhmm... I don't understand, Sir" Gail uttered, totally confused." Where are you? They took Aurora! The FBI!"
"I know that, Gail." he said through the phone." Will you do that for me? Tell Sawyer not to look for us three..."
Gail shook her head, not understanding what the hell this all meant." What? Three? You mean two; Aurora and you, right?"
"No, my loyal friend, not two but three." She heard him say." We are safe... we are being protected by the authorities. We'll see you soon... Bye for now."
"B- bye for now?" Gail uttered, her voice trembling heavily." Don't say goodbye, plea- please, don't!"
And then she heard that he had hung up the phone.
"Mr. Grey!" she exclaimed, while holding the phone with a trembling hand.
It was then, when two cars halted in the huge driveway.
"Gail, what's the matter?" she heard Sawyer say." You look like you've seen a ghost"
"Aurora, she's gone... they took her"
"WHAT?! Who took her?!" Luke shouted, and grabbed her by the upper arms, feeling as if his whole world was tumbling down around him.
He noticed then how Gail was shaking like a leaf...
"Who took Aurora?!" Ethan said, his eyes wide." Gail? Tell us!"
As tears spilled from her eyes, she looked at the three men and answered the question." The FBI... she's with them"
