The right answer

.
"Yes," Special agent Davenport confirmed." Your daughter is downstairs waiting for you, Mr. Grey"
As those words reached his ears, Christian's heart skipped a beat, while tears began to pool in his eyes.
"You should go first," He heard Ana say, making him lock eyes with her.
"I want to introduce you to her."
She nodded at that." Of course, Christian," she told him, while grabbing his hand." Right now, I want nothing more than to run over to my baby girl, and take her in my arms."
When she paused, because she had to swallow her tears, he nodded." But I have to prepare her first,"
Ana nodded, and kissed his hand, tears pooling in her beautiful eyes." Yes... she doesn't know that I'm uhmm — that I'm alive."
As those heart-wrenching words tumbled from Ana's lips, her tears automatically rolled down her cheeks.
Christian saw the pain in her eyes, and pulled her in an embrace.
As her face landed on the crook of his neck, he held her tightly, while she sobbed softly." I've wait— waited so many yea— years... I uhmm," she uttered, not able to complete her sentence.
"Shhhh" Christian whispered, and stroked her red locks lovingly." Don't worry... I'll talk to her first, and explain everything to her, princess"
In response, Ana pulled back from their embrace and locked eyes with him." I've waited so long f— for the day that I can hold my ba—baby girl" she told him." What if she doesn't know who I am? What if sh— she HATES me, Christian?"
As she gave him a devastating look, he swallowed the huge lump in his throat. Christian wiped away her tears gently, and gave her a loving look." She will NOT hate you, princess," he told her in such a convincing manner." Luke, Mia, Gail and I have told her all about you. How wonderful you 'were', and that you loved helping people. I told Aurora that you were a very talented biochemist, and that you were invested in developing medicines to treat diseases. And that you did all of that, because you wanted to save the lives of plenty of people."
As those words reached her ears, Ana felt her heart melt." Really?"
"Yes, we've told her all about you," he said, while his eyes lit up." And to be honest, Aurora, our baby girl, is very proud of you"
"So, she won't hate me?"
Christian chuckled, and kissed the tip of Ana's nose." How could she? You are her momma"
She smiled through her tears at hearing that, and said." Go... prepare her for me?"

When Christian walked down the stairs, he immediately noticed Aurora sitting on the couch, eyes teary, lightly sobbing, while clutching her 'Nijntje' to her chest.
"Baby girl"
As she heard that nick name, Aurora instantly looked up.
And when her eyes locked onto her father's, she got up, and ran towards him." Daddy!"
As she leaped into his arms, all of Christian's worries fell off of his shoulders, the tension in his body gone." My baby girl," he uttered, and cried happy tears." No one will ever take you from me, Aurora... nobody"
"Daddy" she sobbed, and held her father oh so tightly." I th — thought I would never see you again! Why did you leave me?!"
Aurora kept hugging Christian tightly, not wanting to let him go.
"Shhh... I am here now, and I promise that I won't ever leave you alone like that ever again"
After her sobs had subsided, Aurora's eyes landed on her 'Nijntje'. She instantly went to pick it up, 'cause she let go of it, when she leaped at her father not so long ago.
"You won't ever leave that one home, huh?" Christian questioned, and smiled at his daughter.
Aurora shook her head in response." Nope, 'Nijntje' is my best friend... she'll never leave my side..."
As she looked up to him with those big, sparkling blue eyes, Christian wondered how to explain to his young daughter about Ana being back.
"Take a seat, sweetie?"
Aurora nodded at that, and sat on the comfy couch." Am I gonna sleep on this couch tonight?" she asked, and made a face." Ewww"
Christian chuckled at that, and shook his head." We have a bedroom upstairs... it's very comfortable; it has a bath and a shower, and a huge, soft bed"
"Really?"
"Yes, sweetie"
Aurora kept her eyes on her father, and when he sat next to her, she leaped into his arms again." Don't ever leave me again, daddy" she whispered, and held onto him for dear life.
He gently stroked her dark brown locks, and whispered." I promise... I won't ever leave you again like I did,"
When she finally was satisfied, Aurora pulled away from the hug, and looked at Christian.
"Aurora, uhmm— you know we've told you about your mother, right?"
"Yes" she answered and nodded." She died in a car accident, and went to heaven, four years ago... that's what you and uncle Luke have told me"
In response, Christian cleared his throat. Then he sighed deeply." Yes, we have told you that your momma died a few years ago"
"Uhuh," Aurora said, while clutching 'Nijntje' against her chest." I know that daddy, you've told me this before... when I was little"
At that moment, Christian didn't know exactly how to explain his wife's return, and attempted to tell Aurora the truth.
"Daddy, what is it? Something wrong?"
He cleared his throat again, and touched 'Nijntje'." Do you know who bought this for you?" he asked, referring to the toy.
Aurora smiled widely, and nodded." Yes, my mommy... her name was Anastasia"
At hearing that, Christian felt a tug at his heart, his chest tightening a bit." Yes, your mother... she uhmm bought 'Nijntje' for you"
"Uncle Luke told me." Aurora said, and grabbed her father's hand." What is it that you wanted to tell me, daddy?"
"What would you say, if I told you that...," he said, and paused for a moment.
"Yes?" Aurora questioned, and gave him an endearing look.
Christian decided then to be absolutely blunt." Your mom... she is uhmm — there was a mistake, four years ago"
"What kind of mistake?" she asked, her brows furrowed.
"The authorities... they thought that she was uhmmm... dead,"
"Huh?" Aurora said, and shook her head." I don't understand, daddy. If they thought momma was dead, and you tell me that it was a mistake"
"Then it means that she is still alive, sweetie" Christian said, his eyes teary.
"Momma... MY momma is alive? The one who's in all those pictures?" Aurora questioned, her eyes wide, disbelief on her face.
"I am, baby girl." Ana said, while standing on the top of the stairs, tears pooling in her eyes.
She has waited so long to see her little girl, and now that she was finally within her grasp, Ana couldn't believe her eyes." Aurora," she whispered, while smiling through her tears.
"Momma?" Aurora said, and then her eyes darted towards Christian.
"It's your mom, sweetie" he told her, and nodded.
"MY momma?"
"Yes" Ana said and walked slowly down the stairs." Come here, baby girl"
As her mother spread both her arms, tears spilling from her eyes, Aurora tilted her head a bit, and said." Who bought me my favorite toy ever?"
"I did... your momma"
"Hmm..." Aurora said, and thought of another question." I've got it! OK, tell me the name of my favorite toy"
At this point, Ana was only a few feet away from her daughter. Christian had tears in his eyes, feeling like everything was finally falling into place.
His two best girls and him in one room once again...
"Hmmm.. that's a hard one, Aurora" Ana said, acting like she was thinking of an answer.
"You only have one chance," her daughter told Ana.
In response, she nodded." OK, then I'll make sure to say the right answer."
"What's the answer then? IF, you are my momma, you'll know"
Ana smiled, and gave her daughter a longing look." Her name is 'Nijntje'"
Aurora gasped softly, a hand over her mouth." You know it's a her! People always say him, but she's a girl!" she explained, and it was then, when her face lit up like a Christmas tree." YOU ARE MY MOMMA!"
In response, Ana grabbed her baby girl, and pulled her in a very loving embrace, while letting it all go." My baby girl... my Aurora"
