"Why didn't you activate your Aura?" Pyrrha asks Jaune.
"Huh?"
"Your Aura. The thing that lets us do superhuman things like survive hundred foot falls, punch holes in walls, and beat up monsters?"
"Y'know, I always wondered how you guys did that."
"How did you even get into this academy? The entrance exam involves using Aura, and if you don't, you fail!"
"Guess I'm just that strong and cool that I don't need to use my Aura to match everyone else." Pyrrha looks at him skeptically. "...Alright you got me. My family has connections with the school, I got in on a recommendation"
Pyrrha begins to look upset. "Don't you understand how dangerous that is? This school is for training Huntsmen! The curriculum is based around putting us in danger! You could get killed simply for participating!"
"I know, I know! My parents were against the idea too, but I really want to do something with my life, y'know? I want to mean something to people. So I got my grandparents to do it behind my parent's back. I know I don't deserve to be here, I'm not strong or smart or experienced like everyone else. But I want to be here."
After a moment Phyrrha sighs. "...I'll help you out. Normally it takes training to activate your Aura, but I'm going to force it open by injecting my own. This won't help you control it, you will need a lot of extra training. But I don't mind being your instructor. The real question is if you are ready to work several times harder than everyone else to be here. You have a lot of ground to make up."
"I'll do it. I really want to be here."
"How admirable. Now to open your Aura. This will make you feel suddenly awake and alert, like someone poured ice water on your head. Oh, and since you have no control over your output, by the end of the day you will either be starving or want to sleep or both." With that Pyrrha puts her hand on Jaune's chest. What looks like a pulse of red colored energy travels through her arm and into Jaune. His body sharply reacts as if just shocked by a defibrillator, and then becomes encompassed by a pure white glow.
"Woah... this is cool! But if mine's white why is yours red?"
"Yours will change color as you develop your Semblance and it attunes to your body."
"Semblance?"
"Don't worry about it for now, let's just continue with the test."
"Right!"
"Bhhrrrra! Bhhrrrra!" Nora shows herself in front of Ren walking through the woods, dangling upside from a tree.
"I still don't think that's what a sloth sounds like."
"Boop." The both look at each other for a moment before Nora deliberately falls out of the tree. "Alright Ren, let's get going off to find the thing that we are supposed to find even though we don't know what that thing is!" She says as they begin walking. "I wonder what the thing is? Is it like food, or maybe it's uniforms. Or maybe we have to defeat monsters and take trophies as proof that we killed them." She says somewhat ominously as they walk into a small grassy clearing. As she finishes two giant snakes appear before them. "Yeah like those!" This is where the Ren fighting snakes action scene occurs, except Nora is now there. They fight the snakes separately at first before working together to defeat them.
"Our last pair has been formed, sir." Goodwitch says to Ozpin at the cliff. "Nora Valkyrie and Lie Ren. They seem to get along quite well despite having opposite personalities. Ms. Nikos is not as lucky as those two best friends though. I don't care that Jaune got a special recommendation, he clearly doesn't deserve to be here. He is an untrained novice. But I guess the results will come soon enough. At their current pace they'll reach the temple within just a few minutes. Speaking of which, what did you use as relics this year?" No response. "Professor Ozpin?"
"Hmm…" He is completely unaware of the questions as he watches footage of Ruby and Weiss.
"At least I'm not pretending like I know everything!" Ruby yells at Weiss.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means that you are a self-entitled know-it-all who talks down to everyone!"
"At least I'm not a hyperactive ditz who can't go 5 minutes without causing an accident!"
"And you can't go 5 minutes without stroking your massive ego!"
"Ugh. Just keep moving."
The rest of the scene plays out as normal.
"Ruby?" Yang says, surprised at her sister who just rolled into from after jumping out of a tree."
"YANG! Oh, you have no idea how good it is to see you!" She then gives Yang a big hug.
"Woah, what happened to make you all touchy?"
"Uhh, look up." Blake then says to Yang.
"HOW COULD YOU LEAVE ME?" Weiss yells while hanging from the talon of a massive bird Grimm.
"I SAID JUMP! Ruby calls back.
"She's gonna fall" says Blake.
"She'll be fine." Ruby replies.
"She's falling" says Ren who, along with Nora, had decided to stand with the others earlier. Jaune, who has now gotten himself unstuck from the tree, notices Weiss falling and decides to try and catch her. Unfortunately he mistimes it, causing her to land on him instead of the ground.
"My hero" she says ungratefully.
The scene up through Weiss saving Ruby plays out as-is.
"Guys! That thing is coming back for us!" Jaune says fearfully.
"SCATTER!" Ruby yells a command. They all move to either side to dodge the bird as it comes at them in a dive. It plows right through the ruins and returns to the sky.
"Oh, what are we going to do?" Janue asks after they stand back up and regroup.
"Look, there's no sense in dillydallying." Weiss replies. "Our objective is right in front of us..." They all look at the former ruins, only to see that the chess pieces that were there are gone. "...or not."
"Guys look!" Nora shouts excitedly. She has been staring at the bird. "I see the pieces on the back of the bird!"
"How did they even get stuck there?" Yang asks.
"We have to go after it." Ruby tells them. "We can't just go back empty-handed, we need to get the pieces back then get out of here." She runs forward and everybody follows after her, barring Yang, who watches with a smug look on her face. Blake notices and stops to ask her "What is it?"
"...Nothing," she replies with a large smile, before both of them continue after the rest.
The resort of the episode plays out as-is.
