Hushed voices could be heard talking throughout the ship, no matter how hard the owners of the voices tried to keep quiet, their conversation couldn't escape the ears of the blond child in the room down the hall who was the subject of their conversation.

It had not even been a day since Lloyd had been rescued from the clutches of the serpentine, since his dad had left after knowing he was safe, it had not even been a day since he received the news that would shatter his heart into pieces.

How are you supposed to feel when you learn you are the one who has to kill your father to save the world that seemed to do nothing but resent you for the entirety of your life

It wasn't a surprise to the child that he wasn't the only one not too thrilled about the newfound information, all the ninjas had a negative reaction to the news, save for nya, and kai

Nya only gave the boy a sympathetic look as his father hugged him one last goodbye, kai stood next to the child pity in his eyes as he watched Lloyd bid his father farewell.

After garmadon left Lloyd was ushered by his uncle to his shared bedroom with the ninja, being told that if he was to grow stronger to one day face his father, he would need proper rest. (Not really the best thing to say to a child who just learnd he had to one day kill his father)

Although he didn't want to, Lloyd complied and crawled into the blow-up matres laying in the middle of the cramped room, and pulled the pile of blankets over his small figure

Once Wu was content he softly closed the door and left the child to blankly stare at the ceiling

It must have only been a few minutes later when he heard the hushed voices of his new so-called "protectors" arguing with each other about nonother than Lloyd himself

The child pushed himself against the door to listen to the conversation being made about himself

"You can't be serious! He's the son of Ninjagos greatest threat, how could he possibly be the green ninja!" Lloyd recognized jays voice instantly as it was higher pitched and whinier than the others

"I hate to admit it but... I have to agree with jay on this one, the kid can't possibly face his father, didn't he want to join him? Not fight him" coles voice said

"Cole is right it would not be ideal for a child to face an all-powerful villain, much less a son to face his father" Zane's voice stated

"Ha! See, the weapons probably just made a mistake or something, there's no way that brat is the destined green ninja"

"It is not decided by the weapons who will be the chosen one, it is destiny that chooses, and destiny has chose Lloyd," Wu said

"With all due respect sensei, how do we know he won't turn his back on us and steal the golden weapons for himself or his father, I mean he did grow up in a school that nurtured villains" coles voice once again

"That is true, according to my calculations there is a 73% chance he'll run with the weapons once we hit land again," Zane said breaking into the conversation once more

"That's not 100% and theres also a chance he'll stay with us" nya defended

"Please what makes you think the kid can be a ninja, he spent most of his life learning to be evil and he even failed at that" Jay's high pitched voice said

Lloyd felt tears prick the corners of his eyes, Jay was right... the boy had always tried so hard to prove himself to be evil, to darklys, to his classmates... to his father, but he knew deep down his actions weren't evil just... childish

"That's enough!" Hissed kai, everyone went silent "you heard sensei, Lloyd is the green ninja and there is nothing we can or will so to change that! Sensei has spoken... and so has destiny" the fire ninja finished

"Why are you defending this, we all know you wanted to be the green ninja more than any of us" the blue ninja said

"It doesn't matter what I want, it is his destiny to be the green ninja and our destiny to protect him, and we cant change that"

"Well said kai" wu spoke, their conversation continued on but lloyd did not care to listen

Destiny... Lloyd felt anger bubble up inside him at the sound of that word

It was all destiny's fault he had to be the green ninja, all destiny's fault he had to face his father and all destiny's fault that his new team already hated him

It was all destiny... and he hated it, he hated destiny, if he could he would do everything in his power to defy it, but he knew it was impossible, because no matter what he did it would bend and twist, so that no matter what he did destiny would always be in control

Tears threatend to fall but he held them back best he could

Lloyd heard the foot steps of the others retreating back to their rooms, meaning the ninja would come in any second, he jumped in the bed at lightning speed, not wanting them to know he was eavesdropping.

The child laid still in his bed slowing his breaths as the others walked in

Years of pretending to be asleep to avoid the bullying of his classmates really paid off

Once the others were in their beds fast asleep... the boy opened his eyes and finally let his tears fall, it somewhat felt good to cry, years of pent up tears flowed out, all the pain and hate indured by the child finally had pushed it's way out

The newly dubbed green ninja curled up in the sheets into a shivering ball as he cried silently

A child barely 10 years of age had more weight on his shoulders than anyone could imagine...

A child barely 10 years of age... was trapped in destiny's hold, and there was nothing he could do to change that...
