Chapter One: Ten Girls And One Boy

It was a Friday afternoon at twelve sixteen Royal Woods. Like all days after school it was loud and noisy. Then again when you have a family of eleven hyper and energetic kids it's no coincidence that they're the Loud Family. And when you're the neighbors, you have to make living next door bearable. In fact there've been cases where new neighbors have sued their realters for not informing them that they were moving into a neighborhood next to a house that sounds like an insane asylum. The trick is of course learning to live with it. Like learning to ignore raindrops hitting your head you learn to ignore the constant shrieking, yelling, sounds of people running around, electric guitars, explosions and video games.

Speaking of video games, Lincoln Loud was sitting on the living room sofa and playing his newest game. The latest Star Wars game as a matter of fact. Like always with the TV, whether you're playing a game or watching a show you have to have the volume on max if you want to hear anything in this mad house. As he was rapidly pressing buttons and moving the joy sticks on the controller to fight the other combatant, his little sister Lisa literally popped up out of nowhere and scared the crap out of him.

"Ah!" he screamed backing away. "Lisa! How did you, when did you?" he asked wondering how she was able to appear out of thin air.

"Apologiesch male schibling." she said readjusting her glasses. "I was schimply teschting my newscht invention. Behold, the Matter Transchporter." she said holding up her small handheld device that resembled a remote. "With a schimple pressch of a button, I can transchport any scholid object to any locaschion by converting it from scholid matter into particle wavesch and then back into solid matter again." she explained holding up her device with pride.

"Wow, you can teleport now?" he asked actually impressed.

"Only in schort dischtances." she answered. "It isch only a prototype and I've only teschted it a few timesch." she explained. "But I did come to inform you that our eldescht schibling has schummoned usch to her bed room for a schiblingsch meeting." she told him.

So Lincoln proceeded to turn off his game and headed upstairs. He didn't know what his sister wanted to hold a siblings meeting about. Their parents weren't going out or anything tonight so it's not like they needed her to babysit. His sisters Lori, Leni who was holding Lily in her arms, Luan and Lucy were already in the room first. He and Lisa entered and sat on Leni's bed and not long after Luna, Lynn and the Twins entered and took their spots around the room.

"Thank you for coming everyone." said Lori beginning the meeting. "Anyway, I called this meeting because I figured that with no school for the rest of the day, tomorrow and Sunday, maybe we could talk about a day out and go somewhere." she suggested with a smile.

This immediately got everyone else hyped up. Already they could all think of places they wanted to go. Actually, Lincoln was really hoping to go to the arcade. His friend Clyde told him that there was a brand new alien hunting game and he was dying to try it. While all the girls were shouting their suggestions and trying to be heard over one another, Lincoln had his hand raised hoping Lori would see it.

"Everybody calm down!" Lori shouted just loud enough for her siblings to get the message. "Leni, you first." she said to her sister, roommate and BFF.

Lincoln was a little annoyed that Lori didn't even look his way but he figured that he'll get his turn next. "O-M-Gosh!" she squealed. "I like, just heard that there's a big sale going on at several of the best stores at the Mall. There are like, totes cute outfits for all of us!" she replied.

"Not a bad idea Dude. Actually there are some wicked new records at the music store I wanted to check out." said Luna.

"Oh oh!" Lana shouted excitedly. "I heard that the pet store has several new litters of puppies and kittens we can visit!" she shouted with glee.

"Those in favor?" Lori asked looking over the crowd.

"Hey wait a minute!" Lincoln called out but wasn't heard.

His sisters all had their hands raised as the vote was cast. "It is settled. Meeting adjourned." the oldest finished before they all started filing out the door.

"Hey come on guys I was hoping to go to the arcade." he said but again none of them were listening. Lincoln let out a frustrated sigh as he exited his sister's bedroom. "And once again, nobody cares." he grumbled.

"Nobody cares about what?" he heard and was started to see his mother carrying a load of laundry.

"Huh? Uh nothing Mom don't worry." he said trying to give her a reassuring smile before heading towards the stairs.

Rita found his smile a little forced and his body language told her that something was off but she decided not to press him on it. Anyway Lincoln followed his sisters out to Vanzilla and not long after they were at the mall. And like always, they went to all the places that only his sisters wanted to go to. So for the next four or five hours they were looking at clothing, checking out some music at one of the stores that Luna wanted to go to and a few other places. And as always Lincoln was bored most of the trip. On the plus side he did have some fun at the pet store because let's be honest, it's hard not to have fun with dozens of adorable kittens and puppies. Still, he was pretty sore about missing out on going to the arcade.

He really really wanted to try out that new game but figured that he'll have to wait for another chance. By seven they all had to leave and go home in time for dinner. By nine the kids finished their evening bathroom rituals and went to bed. The next day was Saturday which was one of two days they didn't have any school which was awesome. Lincoln along with his sisters would sleep in then get up and enjoy breakfast before they would go about their business. Today Lincoln relaxed in his room and did his favorite activity. Reading his comics and graphic novels in his underwear. He was laying in his bed and probably a couple of pages in when his sister Lucy did what she always did. Pop up out of nowhere and scare him.

"Lincoln." she said in her usual monotone.

"Lucy! Please stop doing that!" he said gasping for breath and feeling his heart racing.

"Sorry." she said although with a small half smile. The young family goth did have some fun scaring her brother and sisters. "Anyway, we're meeting in Lori's room again." she informed him.

"What really? Another sibling's meeting?" he asked with a raised brow.

"We're going to the movies." she answered. "There are several new movies out and we're going to vote on which one we're going to see today." she told him.

After getting the news, Lincoln got dressed in his usual attire and headed for Lori and Leni's room. Soon he was seated on Leni's bed with Luna, Luan and Lucy. The Twins were sitting on the floor, Lisa and Lynn were on Lori's bed, Leni was holding Lily again and Lori stood in front of her dresser.

"Thanks for coming everyone." Lori said calling their attention. "Leni and I were looking over some new movies and there are several that look good. So let's look them all over together and decide on what which one we'll go see." she told them.

So the kids gathered around Lori's laptop and scrolled through. Lincoln saw one that instantly caught his attention. He remembered a couple of months ago seeing a trailer for an upcoming scifi movie about a space bounty hunter and it looked so cool. And now that it was out he was hoping to see it. All he needed was half his sisters to vote with him and he'd get to see this movie. Unfortunately, easier said than done.

"Hey guys, how about First Impressions?" Luan suggested pointing at a romantic comedy. "You all remember seeing the trailer right?" she asked.

"Oh my gosh yes!" Leni squealed. "The guy playing Liam looked so cute!" she said with bright shiny eyes.

"And who doesn't love a sweet Rom Com from time to time?" Luna asked.

"Uh guys I was hopping to try out Galactic Gunslingers." he said trying to get their attention.

Lynn spoke up ignoring him. "I'd rather watch something involving sports but yeah First Impressions doesn't look bad so it's got my vote." she told them.

"I second that." Luan said raising her hand as well.

"Those in favor?" Lori asked with all her sisters raising their hands and once again ignoring their brother. "It's settles, to the movies." she replied as they all rushed out to get ready.

However Leni noticed Lincoln looking kind of frustrated. "Awww what's the matter Linky?" she asked him.

"I had an idea for a movie but we didn't even bother having a vote on it." he answered. "And I was hoping since you all got to choose what we did yesterday I was at least hoping we could hold a vote on a movie I wanted to see." he told her.

The sixteen year old gave her little brother a sympathetic look and placed a hand on his shoulder. "I'm sorry Lincoln. Maybe next time." she said with a shrug of her shoulders and a warm smile. "Now come on, let's go." she said skipping out the door.

The lone boy let out a frustrated sigh and followed his older sister out the door of her bedroom. "The best I ever get is maybe next time." he grumbled.

He said it just loud enough for his father to hear him. "Something bothering you Lincoln?" he asked sounding a little concerned.

"Huh? Oh, no it's nothing Dad don't worry about it." he said walking past him and down the stairs.

Lynn Sr. wasn't entirely convinced that it was nothing but decided not to press him on it. And so Lincoln went with his sisters to see the movie they all wanted to watch. And while they had a great time watching the film Lincoln found it dreadfully boring. He may have enjoyed some of the same shows and movies as his sisters enjoyed but rom coms definitely weren't one of them. And then to add insult to injury the screen literally opposite of the one they were at was showing the movie he wanted to see. This was yet again another example of his sisters basically deciding where they went and what they did on what they thought was fun and Lincoln having to just go along with it because he was the only person who was interested in a lot of things his sisters didn't care for.

As soon as the movie was over the kids went home just in time for one of their dad's well prepared dinners. After their evening meal the kids went about their business for one last hour before they'd have to get ready for bed. Lincoln simply retreated to his room again to resume reading comics. After almost falling asleep from watching that awful movie he really needed to do something fun again and his Ace Savvy comics were exactly what he needed right then and there. Not long after that the kids were all gathered in the bathroom and taking care of their evening rituals before bed. Brushing teeth and the such. The rest of the night they would be in their rooms waiting to fall asleep with one kid every now and then making a quick bathroom break or geting a drink.

The following Sunday morning would be the last weekend day before the kids had to go back to school. So naturally they all slept in a little longer before waking up one at a time and getting breakfast. After the kids ate they all went about doing their favorite things again. Lori was texting Bobby again since today was a day ending in the letter Y, Leni was reading her fashion magazines again, Luna was rocking it on her guitar while Luan was practicing more comedy material for a later birthday party she'd be doing Wednesday. Lynn was kicking a soccer ball around the house, Lucy was writing poems in the vents, Lana was playing with her exotic animals while her twin was driving around in her cart. Lisa was in her lab while Lily was playing with her stuffed giraffe.

Lincoln was downstairs in the living room and playing his video game again. As always volume was at max so he could hear it. At one point he paused his game to make a quick trip to the kitchen and grab himself a drink. He pulled out a carton of milk from the fridge and started drinking when a loud noise came from behind him.

"AIYAIYAIYAIYAIYAIYAAAAAHHHHH!" screamed Lynn who tackled him full force to the floor. The lone boy groaned laying on his back while his older sister shot both her hands up in clenched fists and cheered. "Sneak attack woohoo! Lunatic Lynn strikes again! Little brothers beware!" she said with a big grin pointing to Lincoln.

Lincoln let out sigh and sat up. "Hey Lynn." he said before she offered him a hand so he could stand up.

"Come on Stinkin. Lori's called another siblings meeting." she told him before she charged upstairs.

If today was going to follow the same pattern as yesterday and the day before he already knew how it was going to go down. He sighed and made his way upstairs to his sister's bedroom. Lincoln sat on Leni's bed with Luan to his left and Lucy to his right. Lana sat on the floor in front of him with Lisa while Lola sat opposite of them with Lily. Above them were Luna and Lynn and finally Leni stood with Lori who called the meeting together.

"Okay guys, Leni just told me some great news." she said with a smile.

"Guess what guys, there's a new place that just opened up that let's you make and decorate your own desserts!" she said with a big grin.

The girls all started squealing with excitement while their brother remained quiet where he sat. "So, who wants to go?" the oldest asked.

"Hey wait a minute!" Lincoln spoke up and this time he actually got their attention.

"What's up Bro?" Luna asked.

"I got places I want to go too sometimes." he answered. "You guys have decided where we went to for the last two days. But I hardly had a real say in it." he told them.

"Awww, we're sorry Linky. Where did you want to go?" Leni asked him.

"Can we please go to the comic book store? I was hoping to see if any new Ace Savvy comics have come out." he told her.

"Ugh!" Lola groaned. "You're the only one here who wants to go to a comic book store Lincoln." she said giving him a bored look.

"Oh come on guys, I promise that comics are a lot more fun than you think they are. Have you guys ever tried manga? There's literally something for everyone." he said trying to give them a convincing smile.

"Forget it Stinkin. Comics are boring, desserts are way better." Lynn shot at him.

Her brother was quiet for a moment before replying. "I don't think comics are boring." he said, his voice cracking just a little.

"Well, we know that you think so Lincoln but the rest of us just aren't as interested." said Luan trying to give her brother a sympathetic smile.

"Oh come on guys please? You all got to decide the last two trips." he replied.

Lori let out a sigh then responded. "Tell you what Twerp, we'll hold a vote on it for you right now. Those who want to go to the comic book store?" she asked. Lincoln's hand shot straight up but his smile dropped as soon as he saw that none of them had. "Those who want to go and try out the new decorate your own dessert bakery?" she asked with all of them raising their hands while his fell. "It is settled." she finished as they all started filing out of Lori and Leni's room.

Lincoln huffed in frustration but followed none the less. On his way out his parents both noticed their son's body language again and his mood which waved some red flags. "Did you catch that?" Rita asked her husband.

"Yeah." he replied.

"We'll talk to him when he gets home tonight." she told him.

So once again Lincoln went along with his sisters to this bakery that allowed you to bake simple and easy little treats and decorate them yourself. And just like before, it was really boring. Not that he didn't enjoy baking from time to time but that was something he did when he wanted a sweet treat. Also, decorating desserts was more of his friend Clyde's thing, not his. On the plus side the cookies and cakes they made did taste pretty good and Lily covering herself from head to toe in icing was pretty funny. Although she was going to need a thorough bath when she got home. Once they were done everyone went home and resumed doing their favorite things until it was dinner time. And then it was time to get ready for bed.

However before Lincoln could follow his sisters upstairs his parents asked him to come to their room. He wasn't expecting that but obeyed and entered to see his parents sitting on their bed waiting for him.

"Uh, what's up?" he asked rubbing the back of his neck.

"Lincoln, is everything alright?" Rita asked him.

"Yeah why?" he asked back.

"Son you've looked pretty down lately." his father replied.

He was surprised by that observation. "I'm not feeling down." he told him.

"Lincoln Honey you're not in trouble at all." Rita replied. "If something is bothering you please tell us. We want to help you. You can be honest with us, you know that." she promised with a reassuring smile.

Lincoln looked down for a moment and he didn't understand why but he felt himself clenching his fists. And finally he let loose his frustration. "For the last three days my sisters got to make all the decisions on where we went and what we did." he finally answered. "It's always like this. We only ever go to places they want to go to and do things they want to do. None of them care about the things I like doing like the comic book store or the arcade or go to a movie I'd like to see. More than half the time we won't even have a vote on it in the first place and when we actually do..." he said, stopping briefly to take a deep breath while his lip trembled. "I'm the only person who votes for my favorite things." he told them looking down. "You'd think having ten sisters, I'd have at least one who likes doing the things I do but no. None of them do." he finished with his voice cracking a little.

Rita saw this and got up to give her son a hug followed by her husband who placed his hand on their boy's shoulder. "Honey, we're so sorry. We know, it's not always easy or fair being the only boy in the family." she said trying to comfort him.

Lincoln hugged her back and then looked up at his parents. "The thing that hurts the most is that none of my sisters are even willing to give my suggestions a chance." he continued. "While I don't always enjoy doing the same thing my sisters do I at least try to have fun and sometimes I do. I can at least enjoy doing something with them. I just wish they would be willing to do the same thing for me. Even if just once." he told them.

After their talk Lincoln bid his parents goodnight and they did to him as well. Now for Rita and Lynn Loud Sr. being the mother and father of eleven kids was a very stressful and challenging full time job. So it's important that you find any way to relax if you can. And even the smallest things can be seen as a blessing. For the Loud parents, having their own private bathroom is a god send. A place that isn't a wreck half the time and not having to wait long lines to use it is one of the few luxuries they can enjoy. And Rita was currently taking advantage of this luxury before it was time for her to call it a night. She was laying back in a pleasantly hot bubble bath with scented candles and soft music playing from her iphone.

Now normally a half hour or forty five minute bath like this would be her own mini vacation. However she wasn't able to enjoy it to the fullest like she normally would. The whole time should couldn't stop thinking about her son and what he has to put up with regularly. After twenty minutes she ended her bath and finished the rest of her evening rituals before exiting the bathroom in her nightgown.

"Rita? Is everything alright?" Lynn asked.

"Huh?" she replied startled.

"You seem really distracted Honey." he said looking concerned.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to ignore you." she said turning to face her husband.

"You're thinking about Lincoln too aren't you?" he asked with a small smile. She smiled and nodded. "Yeah I've been thinking about him the whole time." he admitted.

She comes over and takes a seat on her side of the bed. "Lynn I can't help but feel like there's something we should do for him." she said shrugging her shoulders. "You heard him, he sounds frustrated and genuinely hurt. He feels like he has no real say in what kind of activities he and the girls do." she told him.

"I know." he said rubbing the back of his neck. "I know that when we got married and started a family that we weren't going to pick any favorites and grant no special treatment to any of the kids. But it's not like we could've predicted that we were going to have so many girls and only one boy." he said scooting over to make room for his wife.

"And is it really fair that Lincoln has no real say in deciding what activities they do as a group?" she asked getting under the blanket with him. "The only time he ever has the final say in what we all do is on his birthday and I don't think he should have to wait another eight months for the one day of the year where he gets to decide where we all go and what we do." she explained.

"Well what did you have in mind?" he asked.

"What if we brought him out to one of his favorite events for a change?" she asked back. "Let's do something special for him." she suggested.

Lynn brought his hand up to his chin for a moment and thought about that. "I like the idea but I'm worried about how the girls will react." he replied. "You know as soon as we tell them this they're going to get jealous and probably even a little angry." he told her.

"Yeah true." she said crossing her arms. "But I'm sure once we explain why we're doing this they'll probably understand even if they may not entirely like it. I mean, they may think it's unfair that we're doing something special for him, but is it really fair that he's consistently outvoted by all his sisters every single time?" she asked back.

"You know what? Good point." he said smiling. "I don't think it's at all unreasonable if we do something for Lincoln from time to time to make up for the fact that his sisters get to choose the majority of activities." he said to her.

Rita smiled and nodded but then a thought pooped into her head. "Alright but what about the girls? Are we going to force them to come along? You saw how alienated Lincoln felt at times just having to go along with the things his sisters enjoy. Is it fair that we force them to come along to an event they may not like doing?" she asked him.

Lynn didn't consider that and had to think for a moment. "We'll give them the option to come if they want to." he answered. "Once they know where we're going and what we're doing they can decide for themselves if they want to come or stay home. If they choose to come they'll know that it's at least their choice to come along to one of Lincoln's favorite activities and who knows? They may have more fun than they thought they would. And if they choose to stay home we'll let them order some pizzas, rent a few movies and have their own little private party. You know, like a girls only day or something." he suggested.

"Okay but who's going to watch the ones who choose to stay?" she asked.

Lynn scratched his head for a moment before responding. "I think it's a safe bet that Lori will most likely not want to come. She can watch the ones who stay. And we can probably talk to the McBrides. I'm sure they can help out with the girls." he answered.

Rita smiled and nodded. "Okay, so what sort of thing does he like the most?" she asked him.

"Comics, video games, scifi movies, fantasy movies, board games..." he said listing them off on his fingers.

"Didn't he get to go to a convention recently?" she asked.

"He was going to go last month but he got in trouble." he answered. "Lincoln clogged the toilet again and lied about it so I had to ground him for a week so he had to cancel his plans to go." he explained.

"I see." she replied. "Well are there any other conventions?" she asked.

"Hmm, let's check." he said pulling out his phone.

The two of them did a quick search and something caught their eyes. Reading it over their smiles got bigger and bigger until they both turned to one another "PERFECT!" they said in unison.

[Author's Notes] So yeah I've wanted to do a story like this for Lincoln for some time. One where he deals with the negatives of being the one and only boy in such a big family and this of course involves being ganged up on and outvoted by all of his sisters almost every single time. Now I'm sure I'm not the only one to come up with this story idea but I can promise you this, the story will take a very unexpected turn halfway through with a rather epic ending. I hope that you guys like it and if so, please leave a Review I really enjoy reading them and if you want to shoot me a PM please do I enjoy chatting with my readers.
