Hey everyone, thank you for sticking with me this far. This is being written after chapter four was posted and I saw a comment left on chapter three by TheFranninator. To address what you said, some of it was covered in chapter 4, but I do have the possibility of a plan to extend Camila's role farther, but I am unsure. To address the Liltih part, well, I guess I don't want to leave spoilers, but I do have plans for later in the story. To address chapter four for everyone, I do apologize again for its length and how rushed it was. I thank you all again for sticking with me and once again, I do not own the Owl House, that goes to its creators and Disney, which will one day own everything so that we won't even have to put these. Anyways, here's chapter five.
Chapter Five
After Luz told Willow about everything that had happened in the past couple of days, Willow asked, "Wait, so she wasn't flirting with you yesterday?"
Luz sighed, "No, she wasn't."
Willow asked, "Are your wings really beautiful like Amity said?"
Luz shrugged, "I don't know. Sure, they are okay, but other angels' wings look better."
Willow asked, "What about your parents? Have you ever met them? What do you know about them?"
Luz's face darkened, "I have looked into their lives. After I died, dad left mom and got involved with some very shady business before disappearing, nobody ever seeing him again. Earth authorities don't know this yet, but he was killed in Florida by a drug dealer and fed to alligators. He's in hell. My mom, on the other hand, seems to be a nice person. She works as a vet a couple cities over from where I was born. She moved after my dad left her. According to her death date, she's either going to die in 3 years in a car accident or in 60 years from old age. If she stays on the track she is on, she'll go to heaven and I'll be able to meet her."
Willow commented, "Wow, that's incredible. At least you'll see your mom one day, right? Are you looking forward to it?"
Luz nodded, "Yeah, I am." The bell rang, signaling that lunch was over. Willow ad Luz rushed back down into the school and as they parted ways, Luz asked, "Wait, Willow, do you want to come with me after school? Eda is taking me to get something called a cell phone."
Willow replied, "Sure! I'd be happy to. I'll have to text my dads, but I'll be there. See you after school."
With that the two rushed to their different classes as Luz wondered what a text was, guessing it was some kind of message.
For the rest of the day, Luz was in high spirits. She was concerned when she didn't see Amity in her last class, but thought that maybe she had gone somewhere to take everything in. Luz walked by the library on her way to the front doors of the school to meet up with Willow and she glanced in, seeing Amity. Curious as to what Amity was reading since she was so absorbed in it, Luz stepped in and walked up to Amity, "Hey, what are you reading? Are you okay?"
Amity looked up, a frustrated look on her face, "I am confused. Angels and everything. Heaven existing. Everything."
Luz then noticed that Amity was holding a copy of the bible. Luz sighed, "Ah, religion debates, huh?"
Amity closed it after putting the book mark in place, "How much of it is real?"
Luz shrugged, "Let's just say that you can't believe everything that you read. Want to come with me? Willow, Eda, and I are going out to get me a cell phone thing."
Amity asked, "Eda?"
Luz replied, "Yeah, Eda is the person I've been staying with."
Amity nodded, "Well, I could, but my mom always wants me to head home early unless she approves of my plans in advance. She's just so… strict. I'll see you tomorrow though."
Luz said, "Hey, that's okay. See you tomorrow and if you have any… religious questions, let me know. I'll do my best." Amity nodded and as she left, Luz thought she could detect a trace of a smile on Amity's face. Dismissing it, Luz rushed outside to meet with Willow. Luz said as she met Willow in front of the school, "So sorry about the delay. I ran into Amity in the library reading the bible."
Willow commented, "Huh. Cool. Is it because you're an angel?"
Luz shrugged, "I think so? Anyways, let's go get Eda."
The two got to Eda's place in a few minutes to find Eda already waiting out front. Eda noticed Willow and asked, "Who's this?"
Luz introduced, "This is Willow. She's one of two humans who knows about me. Before you say anything, don't worry. Alice already knows about it. She's helping to cover it up."
Eda sighed, "Well, kid, can't say I approve, but at least you got away with it and have somebody willing to stick up for you up there."
Willow inputted, "Now she has people willing to stick up for her down here too."
Eda chuckled, "Aww, how sweet. Young childhood naïve confidence. Let's just hope you don't have to go up against heaven's forces. Anyways, hop in! We're going to the store to get Luz here a phone."
Eda got in the seat of a beaten-up Dodge Caravan and as Willow and Luz slid in the back, Willow asked, paled, "Will we actually have to go against heaven's forces?"
Luz shook her head, "Nah, Eda is just messing with you." Luz called to the driver's seat as they pulled out and started driving down the road, "Right Eda?"
Eda shrugged as she took a turn, "Whatever happens, happens."
Luz whispered to Willow, "Don't worry about it."
Willow nodded, "If you say so, I guess I can take the word of an angel."
When the trio got to the electronics section of the store Eda chose, Luz started asking questions about everything. Luz asked, "What's that?"
Willow sighed, "That is a headphone adapter."
"What's that?"
Eda shrugged, "Phone stickers."
"What's that?"
Eda nodded, "Oh, that's a phone card. You put it on your phone to make it work kiddo. Let's just pick you out a good phone and get it set up."
Luz put on a serious face and nodded, her eyes still sparkling with curiosity and excitement. Willow asked, "Don't angels know about these things? Don't you study the human world or watch T.V.?"
Luz replied, "Yeah, we have T.V. Heavenly programs though. Mostly documentaries on people up there, documentaries on history, documentaries on influential figures, but we have other stuff too. Just nothing that talks about the human world much. That stuff is mainly for the higher ups or the regular people. Or angels that lived their lives as humans first. I mean, I could watch it, but I was waiting until when I got older."
Willow shook her head, "I will pretend like I understood everything you just said. You basically have lots of documentaries."
Eda, oblivious to the two's conversation, picked up a phone and nodded, "This is a good starter phone. It's an Android. Sturdy phone. It even uses StraightTalk. I personally prefer StraightTalk. You can get something else if you want though."
Luz was in awe of the phone and giddily said, "This will do!"
Willow asked while Luz was still in awe of the phone as they grabbed a phone card and went to go check out, "Do you have books maybe? Do you read or anything?"
Luz nodded happily, "Of course! I love books! They take me away to fantasy worlds full of many wonderful things. I see things in books when I read that seem like they come straight from dreams."
Willow breathed out a sigh of relief, "Thank God you have books."
Luz turned to Willow and cocked her eyebrow for a moment before Eda, who was already checked out, looked back and asked, "Well, are you two coming?"
The two scrambled after Eda as Luz was filled with excitement at the prospect of having a cell phone.
Let me apologize. Especially if part of that last half of the chapter is terrible. Let me explain: My computer went through some errors and I lost the document. For a few days I lost some of my writing spirit because of discouragement. Then I found a way to recover most of my work on this chapter, but it was awkward, and I do know this. I deeply apologize. I will try to make it up to all of you with the next few chapters. Thanks for the support I've received and leave any comments you have below or private message me if you wish. I'll get to writing Chapter 6 now I guess. Thanks! Bye!
P.S. Yeah….. Luz's dad is being thrown under the bus. So…. Yeah. There's that. Also, sorry if the reaction to the phone is over the top. She's just excited to fit in I guess?
