As soon as Adryn and Taeyong got to the kitchen, they realized that Jaehyun and Taeil were already awake and had gotten the cooking started. Taeyong just jumped right in, as Adryn sat at the counter.
"So, Jaehyun, have you figured out anything with my medications yet?" Adryn asked suddenly as she looked at the man. Jaehyun turned around and shook his head at her.
"I've found a few medications that you might want to try out, but only trial and error will figure out for sure what would work with you to stabilize you fully," Jaehyun replied as he paused in cooking. "After breakfast, you'll come with me to my office to fully discuss the medications."
"Thank you! That'll work for me."
"I'll also take that time to train you in what I know on the medical side of things. I'll eventually get to train you in my fighting style, but not today."
"I really appreciate you taking your time to help me out with this."
"That's what friends are for, so it's no problem." Jaehyun shot Adryn a smile as he spoke. Adryn smiled back, but instantly, Taeyong stood in front of Jaehyun with a pout on his face.
"What's wrong?" Adryn chuckled at Taeyong, making him pout more.
"I'm glad you're getting along with my gang and all, but everyone is getting too friendly with you."
"You'll need to start getting used to that, as she'll be personally training with everyone at least once." Taeil mentioned to the pouting man. Taeyong's pout turned to a full-blown frown at that.
"Is it too late to go back on that?" Taeyong asked, only for Adryn to laugh at his words.
"Don't worry, Taeyong, no one could ever take me away from you." Adryn's words caused Taeyong to look at her in shock. He searched her eyes to see if she was telling the truth and seemingly found that she was. So, Taeyong merely smiled and nodded his head at her.
"Are you going to get back to helping us with food, or will you keep being overly protective of Adryn?" Jaehyun teased the leader, making Taeyong turn to Jaehyun.
"Shut up!" Taeyong snapped but a chuckle. Adryn instantly laughed at the situation before speaking up.
"I feel like I've finally found myself a home..." Adryn muttered to the group around her. This caused the 3 men to pause and turn to her. She seemed to ignore them as she pulled out her phone and began to play around on it.
"You should feel like you've found a home because this is your home. Now and forever." Taeyong broke the silence, causing Adryn to smile before going back to her cell phone.
With that, the men went back to cooking and eventually served the food, calling for everyone to come to the dining room table. Most of the members showed up, but some stayed in bed sleeping in. Plus, Mark was gone for who knows how long.
After the food was done being eaten, Taeyong and Taeil cleaned up while Jaehyun guided Adryn to his office. He sat down at his desk while Adryn took a seat next to him. Jaehyun went through the various medications that he had access to that could help her. After talking everything out, they decided on 2 medications for Adryn to take. One in the morning and one before bed.
"Alright, I sure hope these work. I'll take the first one tonight and then the morning one tomorrow morning." Adryn said after they were done discussing everything.
"The pills might have side effects at first, but they'll go away within a few days," Jaehyun replied which instantly worried Adryn.
"That's a little worrying though..."
"You'll be alright. If you feel too affected by the pills, go to Taeyong and he'll help you out." Hearing Jaehyun's words brought a frown to Adryn's face.
"I can handle things on my own."
"That's nice and all, but you need to and can rely on Taeyong and us all when necessary."
"I know, I'll keep that in mind."
"Good." Jaehyun then stood up and walked to his little bookshelf. "Now let's get to training."
"Alright!" Adryn was excited to learn things. Jaehyun went through various techniques on how to take care of wounds, specifically gunshot and stab wounds.
"Adryn, keep this in mind; the best form of care for wounds is to not get them in the first place." Jaehyun's warning caused Adryn to chuckle a little bit.
"I'll keep that in mind, but I'm probably going to get hurt a lot."
"You should be careful because Taeyong might go crazy if you get hurt too badly."
"I agree... and honestly, I feel the same way about Taeyong if he got hurt."
"You've grown quite attached to our leader." Jaehyun's words made Adryn blush and turn away from him.
"I'm just crushing on him at the moment. I'm... I'm not too attached to him or anything." Jaehyun clearly didn't believe her, so he just patted her on the back.
"I'll go along with that for now."
"I really don't want whatever is going on between me and Taeyong to be the main topic for everyone to talk about."
"That specific topic will be likely going around for a while, as Taeyong had been harsh and violent until you walked into his life."
"What do you mean? What made Taeyong harsh and violent? I can't really see him being like that."
"Taeyong didn't get to be the leader of a large gang because he is sweet and caring. He got where he is by killing and fighting his way to the top."
"Oh..."
"Taeyong was distant from most of the group at first. He only came out of his room and office for food every few hours. When he did come out though, he was snap at any member he came across. He'd ask them why they were just standing around. However, he slowly got nicer over time. Even so, the day he came back from meeting you, he was different."
"Do you know how Taeyong and I originally met?"
"Yes. Mark, Johnny, Doyoung, and I were all there at that bar with Taeyong. We had watched and listened to everything between you two that day."
"Damn... That isn't cool that so many people know about what happened when I can't even remember much of that night."
"Do you at least remember that Taeyong was the one who brought you back home?"
"What?! No! Are you serious?!" Adryn was a mix of shocked and horrified. Instead of answering, Jaehyun merely smirked at her, tossed her 2 bottles of pills, and then threw a book at her. She carefully caught everything and looked at him with confusion.
"The book is your homework. Study it. Take your pills as prescribed."
"How am I supposed to read this? It's in Korean and I can't read Korean that well." Adryn's question was just answered with Jaehyun shrugging his shoulders as he sat down at his desk.
"I have some paperwork to do now, go run off and look for Taeyong now."
"I'll go off, but if I come across Taeyong, it'll be by accident," Adryn grumbled as she walked out of the room, only to see Taeil standing there across the hallway from her.
"Hello, Adryn." Taeil greeted the woman with a smile on his face. "Do you really know how to use a gun?"
"Is the gun Taeyong's idea and are you my temporary babysitter?"
"Taeyong is only trying to be protective of you because he cares about you. Don't be too mad at him."
"Alright..." Adryn muttered as Taeil approached her. He then clipped the gun onto the waistband of her pants. "I've been shooting guns since I was 5. I think I'm pretty good at it."
"Good, just don't kill anyone you're not supposed to kill, okay?"
"Got it." Adryn nodded her head before looking at her hands and all the items she had. "Can we go to my room, so I can put this stuff away? I also want to get into the Korean workbooks that Ten gave to me."
"Sure." Taeil agreed right away, so the two began to head to Adryn's bedroom. On their way, Taeil thought of a question to ask the woman with him. "What do you really think of Taeyong? Are you truly feeling things for him or are you pretending?"
"Is that what everyone thinks? That I'm pretending?"
"Not everyone trusts you yet, so they won't fully believe everything you say."
"I care about Taeyong, and I don't want anyone to doubt that. I've had a hard time with lovers in the past, so I'm not too sure about a full relationship with Taeyong. Even so, the more we hang out and get to know each other, I'll start to fully feel like I can be happy with him."
"You shouldn't rely on others to be happy," Taeil warned but Adryn nodded her head to his words.
"I know that, but if it was currently up to me, I'd probably go off and die or at least just hide in my room. Taeyong will be a crutch for now. He'll help me out when I need it, but eventually, the wound will heal. I'll be able to stand on my own."
"I understand. You'll probably be questioned over and over again by the others, but you should stay strong. Also, don't let their opinions get in the way of the happiness that Taeyong and you could share one day."
"Alright, I'll keep that in mind," Adryn replied just as they reached her bedroom.
"I'll be outside waiting for you. Just do your own thing and don't worry about me."
"Do you at least want a chair?"
"I'll be alright. Thank you though."
With that, Adryn went into her room and put away her pills before opening up the beginner workbook that Ten had given her. After about an hour and a lot of frustration, Adryn realized she was getting the information that was in the book. Feeling like she had some better understanding, Adryn decided it was time for a little snack. So, she opened up her door to see Taeil still there.
"Can we go to the kitchen to get a snack?"
"Sure." Taeil smiled at her and then the two headed to the kitchen. As they approached and got closer, they could hear an argument happening. It was Mark and Taeyong arguing with each other.
"Mark you need to explain why you're acting like this!" Taeyong growled at Mark, sounding incredibly furious with the younger man.
"It isn't your business! I want to branch out and be on my own for a bit!" Mark yelled back with equal anger.
"You can't do that. You need to be close by so you can be Adryn's bodyguard."
"I want no part in babysitting your woman."
"What is your problem?"
"I don't want to protect someone who clearly doesn't want to live. It'd just get me killed. I want no part in that. Besides, Adryn is weak in body and mind. I want no part in that either!" Mark's words were hurtful to Adryn. This instantly caused her to walk into the kitchen to confront the man.
"Why do you suddenly have such a problem with me?" Adryn didn't raise her voice, nor did she sound upset. She kept her calm, but Mark didn't even look at her. He shot Taeyong a glare before speaking to him.
"Find someone else to watch over her," Mark growled at his leader before walking out of the room, bumping his shoulder against Adryn as he did so. No one spoke until they were sure Mark was fully gone.
"What was that about?" Adryn asked as she looked at Taeyong.
"Don't worry about it. I'll sort it out." Taeyong replied with a frown on his face. "Taeil?" The older man walked into the room immediately. "You can take the rest of the day off. I'll be personally watching over Adryn for the rest of today."
"Are we going to train?"
"Nope." Taeyong smiled at Adryn, making her tilt her head to the side. "I want to do something else with you."
"Huh?"
"Let's go," Taeyong held out his hand to Adryn, and she took a hold of it. Taeyong then guided her out of the kitchen. Adryn wasn't sure where they were going, but she felt some excitement about it. She had a feeling that she and Taeyong were going somewhere new in the house, but she just wasn't sure why he, himself, seemed too excited about it.
