Vax laid in his bed, arms crossed above his head as he looked up at the ceiling. His mind was drifting, as things usually do, to odd things and random ideas. One of these was the idea of, four-leaf clovers. These things were seen as lucky to many because of how rare they were and for many they were something special. Being as someone who many would consider lucky, he began to think of his own four-leaf clovers. The rare people in his life that brought him luck.
There was the ranger Vex, his sister. She was weird compared to many like him, as she didn't hide behind her half-breed traits or her station. No, she would rather make sure they were never poor again and use her beauty to tame wild beasts. She was rare in that she was not one to allow herself to stay in her station, but become an adventurer like him. She even tamed a demon and made him follow her.
"I wonder if she married him," Vax whispered, sighing if she did without telling him. He had always wanted to be by her side when that day happened, like they said they would.
Holding his hand up, he chuckled and thought of the other rarity, Percy ect ect ect. Who would've thought that he gunslinger would've become his brother, companion, and someone he trusted with his sister. More, how could he think that the man who had more demons than him would prove to beat down his own demons.
Clenching his fist, he winced a little at the thought of the other special fighter in their team. Grog. He proved himself to be the rare member of his tribe who was NOT an ass, who protected a little gnome, and became friends with the rarity of a cleric Pike. And in spite of his demeanor in a fight, he and Pike became close as two non-blood siblings could be.
"Gnomes," Vax sighed as he let his arm drop to his side and he whispered, "Scanlan. You're mother's name is Juniper, satisfied?"
Scanlan Shorthalt, who would've thought that the sex-crazed, drinking, overconfident, and loud bard held so much pain and sorrow. The rare breed of bard who held so much pain while trying to make the rest of the party happy with his magic. Closing his eyes, Vax wished to make amends with the bard. He wanted to say he was sorry for not listening, for treating him like a joke, and not making him feel like he belonged. The pain in his chest matched with how he wanted to kick himself for doing that little prank on his friend.
Turning his head to look at Deathswalker's Ward, he was reminded of how it would only a matter of time before the Raven Queen would call for him. To entreat him to his service and-
"Hmmm, hello little bunny. Want to join my Owlsla?" whispered the red head in her sleep as she turned over.
Vax was taken out of his own thoughts and looked at his own luck charm, his rare breed of druid that made him feel complete. Keyleth, the Ashari. Rare in that as a druid, she didn't have a disconnect with the world and felt at peace with being with all the world. And lucky in that, when Pike was gone, she wa the one who would heal him. She was the one he knew would save him, and bring him the most luck. Her power, her beauty, and her kindness made him feel safer than he had in years. A lucky four leaf clover in a dense woods and she was a part of him. He smiled as he ran his hand through her hair and kissed her.
"You took everything from me. Now I'll take everything from you," Deliah said, aiming her finger at Vax.
"Techinically we weren't dating at the time," Vax said with his usual cokyness and snark as the sickly green energy hit him hard and caused his body to dissolve.
He then turned to walk into the waiting arms of the woman dressed in a black robe.
Vax gasped at the vison. What did it mean, and what was it trying to say. That one day his lucky charm would fail? That she wouldn't be able to save him? Or that one day, his own luck run out.
There was a warm smile as he took Keyleth's hand in his, and then held his hand on top of hers. Looking at her sleeping face, he ran his hand along her cheek and whispered, "If you fail, don't feel bad. I forgive you. I'll still be ere, and I love you."
Keyleth panted as she looked at her team, "I...I wasn't thinking. I had to act fast and send us to a place he wouldn't find us and I had to-"
Vex shot up, and looked around, holding Vax's armor close to her as she asked with tears in her eyes, "Where's Vax?"
