It was a very warm day today. In fact, it was so baking that it was like the whole of Arendelle was clammed right into an oven. A very massive oven. It was so hot that the only thing I could wear was my strapless purple bikini, purple sarong around my legs and pink flipflops. But, despite that, I wasn't stressed at all. In fact, I was very happy because I was going on a picnic today and joining me was Elsa, Kristoff, Sven, Kasper, Rika, Olaf and Miguel. Like me, Elsa could only wear her strapless light blue bikini, dark blue sarong around her legs and light blue flipflops. Kristoff and Miguel were shirtless and could only wear flipflops and shorts. Kasper was wearing a sleeveless blue shirt, black shorts and brown flipflops and Rika wearing a beautiful green sleeveless summer dress and yellow flipflops. There was nothing that could be done for Olaf or Sven, except hope that they wouldn't get overheated.
Before we headed off for our picnic, Elsa used her ice powers to cover the whole Arendelle in enough snow and ice to help the people cool off on this baking day, but she made sure that she didn't repeat the time when she accidentally trapped it in the Eternal Winter. As we left for our picnic in our wagon being pulled by Sven, she checked it and couldn't take her eyes off it.
"Relax, Elsa," I told her. "If it gets out of hand again, you know how to thaw it like the last time."
She started to relax more. "Thanks, Anna. You really know how to calm me down."
We didn't know where we were going. It was Kristoff and Sven who chose the spot and they were taking us to it. On their way to work, he and Sven would always pass a big beach near the lake on their way and they thought it would be the perfect spot for a picnic. And when we got there, we saw that it was the perfect spot. It wasn't too far away from home and the beach was colossal. The sand was lovely and warm. And there was no one else there; we had the beach all to ourselves. The weather was perfect and the atmosphere was peaceful.
When we arrived, Olaf, Kristoff, Sven and Miguel put down the picnic blanket and then I helped Elsa and my children put the food out of the three picnic baskets and onto the blanket. There was so many delicious food, including sandwiches of all types, apples, grapes, carrots for Sven, biscuits, chocolate (melted, but tasted delicious all the same) and cakes of all types. We ate everything. There wasn't a single crumb left.
As we let our tummies settle and drank some of the cool water in the bottles that Elsa froze and thawed in the heating sun, we chatted about what we have been doing.
"So, Miguel, how's living in the castle going for you?" I asked. It had been two months since Miguel moved out of my barn and moved into the castle to live with Elsa after they started a relationship. While I was working with Elsa, I would ask her how living with Miguel was and she said that he was wonderful company and great support, but I never knew about how he felt because he was busy running the Arendelle Coastguard Station.
"It's just great, Anna," he said. "I really enjoy living in that castle. It's very warm and cosy and Elsa and Olaf are great company there and the servants are just the best. But I do miss living with you and your family and I will always be grateful to you guys for letting me live at your place when I did."
"Thank you for saying that, Miguel. And you were great company while you lived us and we miss you too and you can and visit us anytime you like."
"Thanks, I will."
"How's the coastguard business coming on, Miguel?" Kristoff asked.
Then he told us more about how he had been very busy since he moved into Arendelle Castle. He had been very busy training his fellow coastguards to swim and row boats to rescue from drowning and sinking ships and checking that every ship was entering and leaving Arendelle Harbour safely and having to rescue a few people who fell from their ships or from crashed ships.
"And I just wanted to say that I couldn't have done this without our good friend Olaf," Miguel said.
"And I couldn't have done it without our good friend Miguel as well," Olaf said.
"How's business going with you guys?" Miguel asked.
I told him how busy I was helping Elsa with our royal meetings and my negotiation meetings with other countries.
"And Arendelle has never been happier, busier or better than it has been, thanks to you, Anna," Elsa said.
"How about you, Kristoff?" Miguel asked. "How's the ice delivery service you and Sven are doing?"
"It's doing very well," Kristoff said. "Isn't it, Sven?"
"'It sure is'," he said in his voice for Sven.
"And how are Kasper and Rika doing?" Miguel asked.
"They're doing well at school," Kristoff told him. "Rika is a still enthusiastic learner as always and Kasper is not as enthusiastic, but he's putting more effort into it and he's made more friends."
"And I may add that Rika's powers may be getting stronger as she gets older," I said, "but she's learning to manage them."
"And she's succeeding better than I did when I was her age," Elsa said.
When she said that, I thought she sounded a bit sad. Probably because she was the one born with magical powers and we didn't know why or how to help her control it, but after a few misadventures and disasters, we learnt how she got the powers and she learned how to control them and I was pleased that Rika wasn't going through the same experience.
"That reminds me," Olaf said, looking in the bag. He later returned to us with a letter. "I found this letter this morning."
That looked like the one that I received this morning. I got it out of one of my picnic basket, opened it up and I gasped as I read it.
"What is it, Anna?" Olaf asked.
"It's an invitation," I said.
"To what?" Kristoff asked.
"The wedding of Moana and Patlee in a few months. I, Kristoff, Sven, Kasper and Rika have been invited to their wedding on New Motunui."
"So have I, Olaf and Miguel," Elsa said, as she showed her invitation.
"Mama! Papa!" Kasper called. "Can we go swimming now, please?"
"Can we go looking for seashells?" Rika asked.
"Of course we can," I said.
So we went. The only one who didn't come with us was Sven who was very tired, so he volunteered to guard the picnic blanket and baskets.
We split into two groups. I, Elsa and Olaf helped Rika look for seashells on the beach while Kristoff and Miguel made sure Kasper was okay as he swam in the cool sea.
When we got home, the snow in Arendelle had thawed a bit and everyone told Elsa that they used all the snow to cool it down as we past them. Elsa felt very glad that they had a good day cooling down like we did on our lovely day at the beach.
