Commodore's Log
9/16/48
Day 72
So far the search for the Pirate Queen's Fleet has been a wild fucking goose chase. We dock tonight. And I know I'll get nothing less than an ear full from Commodore Shinso and Prince Monoma. That damned orphan always on a high horse. One of these days things will change, especially once the Pirate Queen swings.
A knocking at his cabin door causes the commodore to break his concentration.
"WHAT?"
"COMMODORE! WE'RE ARRIVED AT PORT SIR!"
We weren't supposed to dock until tonight.
The commodore shut his log and stomped to the door throwing it open.
"What the hell is the meaning of this cabin boy? We weren't supposed to dock 'til tonight!"
"We caught a lucky tide commodore. It pushed us home with time to spare. The commodore looked up to see the pink haired girl leaning over the rails by the ships poop deck.
"Aye. MEN PREPARE FOR DOCKING! CAPTAIN ASHIDO BRING US INTO PORT!"
"AYE AYE COMMODORE BAKUGO!" The blonde, spiky haired navy man walked through the crowd of officers at work as they prepared to dock at the Port of Gold.
"Commodore Bakugo, one more thing." The spiky silver haired cabin boy said following his boss to the rail of the ship.
"What is it cabin boy?"
"The rest of your captains are due in today. Reports from the palace say they've had just as much luck as us with the hunt for the Pirate Queen's Fleet."
That damn pirate evades us at every turn! We almost had her in Siren Bay! We would've gotten her if it weren't for those damned rebels!
"Plan a meeting with my captains once they've all docked."
"I'm afraid I can't do that sir."
"The hell did you just say?"
"Prince Monoma and Princess Kendo have requested you and the other commodores to meet them in the thrown room tonight."
Damn.
"Fine. CAPTAIN ASHIDO!" The pink skinned beauty grabbed one of the ropes hanging from the main sail and swung down to the commodore's side. "How many times do I have to tell you to stop acting like a child?"
"Did you actually need something Katsuki?"
"Don't call me that!"
"Right sorry. You requested my presence Commodore Bakugo," the girl teased giving a grand curtsy.
"Loose the smug attitude and find the other three pinheads. I want a report on anything we know about the Pirate Queen's Fleet before sunrise."
"Of course sir," she said rolling her eyes.
"And one more thing," Katsuki said getting extremely close to Mina.
"Y-yes…"
"Fix yourself up. You're fucking indecent to be meeting with the others." Katsuki backed away from Mina and walked down the gangplank to port followed by his cabin boy, Tetsutetsu. Blushing, Mina buttoned the top two buttons of her blouse and went to grab her coat.
Walking through town, all the commodore could hear was praise.
"You really are famous commodore."
"It's fucking annoying."
"Really. If I had half as much this praise for one day I'd consider myself the luckiest man alive."
"I don't need these damn citizens herding to me like sheep when I've got important business to attend to!"
"Commodore, if you don't mind me asking, why are you so intent on capturing the Pirate Queen yourself?"
"Because it'll prove I'm the best. Then I'll be the one on the high horse. Not Commodore Shinso, not Commodore Midoriya, not even Prince Monoma! ME!"
"You're nothing if not ambitious commodore."
"And you?"
"What about me?"
"I see the way you eye the princess."
"R-really?"
"No. But Captain Kirishima does and he can't keep his mouth closed for five seconds the moron. Anyway run ahead and tell their highnesses I'll be along soon enough. I've got someone I need to talk to."
"Yes sir." As Tetsutetsu continued to the castle, Katsuki made his way through town to a pub. As he walked inside all heads turned to him and the crowd started cheering and calling out to him. Katsuki took a seat at the bar and removed his hat placing it down on the counter.
"Commodore! You've returned from sea!" The pub owner called out as he grabbed a glass for Katsuki.
"Just now. We pulled into port early off a lucky tide."
"Well then. Here's to your return on a lucky tide." The bartender pushed a mug full of ale to the commodore. Katsuki took the mug and raised it up before downing the entire drink.
"Refreshing. I gotta say Mr. Utsushimi you always know exactly what I need after a long voyage."
"KATSUKI!" A blond woman ran up to Katsuki and threw her arms around him. "Why didn't you tell me you were back from sea?"
"Camie give the commodore some space." The girl let go of Katsuki and he sat himself upright placing his cup back on the counter.
"We just sailed in today. I just came by for a drink before I have to go talk to their highnesses."
"Man it's been so long Kat!"
"Camie you two will have time to catch up later, get back to work."
"Sorry dad. I'll see you later Katsuki!" The girl went back to serving out drinks to people.
"She's missed you a lot commodore."
"I could tell." Katsuki grabbed his hat and placed it back on his head as he stood. "I'll see you around Mr. Utsushimi." Katsuki went to reach for his wallet.
"It's on the house. Welcome home commodore." Katsuki flashed a smile walking out of the pub and into a dark alley way.
"Just couldn't resist a drink could you commodore," said a man in a black cloak leaning against a wall.
"72 days at sea you start to miss the taste of a home brewed ale." The man in the cloak stood up straight and pulled off his hood revealing a raven a.
"You oughta cut these journeys of yours shorter then."
"Well that depends. Did you find anything?"
"No. Ever since you riled up the rebellion in Catalonia the Pirate Queen's been real quiet."
"Well keep looking. You're the best we've got Fumikage make that mean something. Otherwise the whole damn navy'll be chasing their own tails from here to the Grand Sheet."
"Well it's good to see you back commodore. Good luck." Fumikage pulled his hood back on and walked deeper into the alley way.
Meanwhile back on the Ocean Stead.
"Captain Ashido!"
"What is it Cadet?"
"You're gonna want to see this." Mina followed the Navy Cadet to the head of the ship and looked out to see a boat coming in to port. Not just any boat. A pirate ship. One with black sails. There was tears in at least a hundred spots across the three sails. At the helm of the ship, Mina could barely make out a tall figure in a rather unique outfit for a pirate. A long coat, and a top hat over more traditional raggedy clothing.
"the pirate league," Mina took a step back as she new the ship from all those years ago.
"What do we do Captain?"
"ALL HANDS ON DECK! PREPARE TO FIRE ON THE SHIP ON OUR PORT SIDE! LIEUTENANT!" As the Captain barked out orders the officers on the ship started racing around preparing to attack. A girl with blonde hair put up in buns ran up to Mina.
"What is it Captain Ashido?"
"Run ahead into town and find the commodore. Tell him the Pirate League is here. We'll hold them off as long as we can, just go!"
"Right!" Himiko ran for the gangplank and raced into town to find Commodore Bakugo.
"ANCHORS UP! SOMEONE TAKE THE HELM! PULL US OFF TO STARBOARD AND FLANK THE SHIP WITH THE TATTERED BLACK SAILS AND THE SKULL & CROSSBONES ON IT'S HULL!"
"AYE!"
Meanwhile, at the castle.
Katsuki is standing in the thrown room waiting for everyone else to arrive. Suddenly, the grand doors swing open and in walk two faces he knows all too well.
"Commodore Bakugo."
"Commodore Shinso."
"I see months out at sea haven't fixed that bitter aura of yours."
"And I see that months amongst the Royal guard hasn't fixed that damn attitude of yours."
"Well you know all about attitude wouldn't you old friend." Two men wearing outfits similar to Katsuki walk towards him.
"Commodore Midoriya."
"Commodore Bakugo. I heard you docked today and assumed I could find you at Utsushimi's pub."
"Well I got a drink early since I new this would be an important meeting."
"No need to put up an act while their highnesses aren't here." With a small grin Katsuki pulled off his hat and leaned against a pillar.
"72 fucking days at sea. I consider myself lucky I only needed one of my Captains. I would've gone fucking insane with the other four pinheads."
"Well it's a good thing you didn't. The Royal Navy would be lost if one of our commodores had to be sent to an asylum." The three commodores turned their attention to the thrones where they saw Princess Kendo and Prince Monoma taking their seats. The three young men stood up and bowed, Katsuki placing his hat back on his head.
"Vulgar really, having to listen to someone so unfit to be in the Navy at all talk so horribly about his subordinates. I shudder to think how much of a mess they must be to not reach your pathetic standards Katsuki."
"I assure you your highness, that Kacchan is the best suited of all three of us to be leading the crew of the Ocean Stead. He's just a little temperamental. Being away from home for so long."
"Ugh, and then there's your ungodly whining Izuku. Itsuka, I implore you to let these two go and promote someone worthy of the position of Commodore."
"I've told you time and time again Neito that the reason these three are my commodores is because they've proven themselves more than once."
"I'd hardly say they've proven anything. Why it's been nearly three months that, Commodore Bakugo, has been at sea and he hasn't come any closer to catching the Pirate Queen than before she robbed the Catalonian bank."
"I assure you your highness," Katsuki said clenching his fist so hard his knuckles became white. "That my men are doing all that we can to capture that bitch."
"KACCHAN!"
"It's the truth. She's nothing more than a damned soul treating her as anything civil is beneath even a peasant."
"That is enough. Now the reason I've called you all here today is Prince Monoma has enlightened me to a plan to capture to Pirate Queen."
Like this shit will play out any better than Siren Bay.
"What's the plan your highness?" Hitoshi asked, talking for the first time this meeting.
"We'll host a grand ball in celebration of the Crown Jewels being moved from that old safe on the other side of the island to the treasury here in the castle. Surely a greedy woman such as the Pirate Queen couldn't resist a chance at such a treasure."
"Your highness I insist I be placed amongst the guard at this ball. I'll be damned if I let anyone else have the Pirate Queen's head."
"BAH! Over my dead body will you be allowed anywhere near the ball! We'll be calling in QUALIFIED men for such a dangerous task! After all, we don't want a repeat of that embarrassing display in the Maroon Sun. Or have you forgotten your first meeting with the Pirate Queen? Shall I remind you?" Katsuki pulled his saber from his sheathe and stomped.
"LIKE HELL YOU WILL!"
"KACCHAN!"
"KATSUKI WHAT THE HELL!" Hitoshi and Izuku grabbed Katsuki and forced him to drop his blade.
"YOU BASTARD! YOU SHOULD BE HUNG FOR EVEN THINKING TO DRAW YOUR BLADE IN THE THRONE ROOM, LET ALONE ACTUALLY DOING SO AND AGAINST ME!"
"Neito that seems a bit excessive. However, Commodore Bakugo, you'll do well to remember that blood or not, my brother is royalty."
"Sorry your highness." Izuku and Hitoshi let go of Katsuki and all three resumed a position in front of the thrones.
"Now that that is settled I see no reason not to allow Commodore Bakugo to accompany the Royal Guard during the ball."
"B-BUT ITSUKA I IMPLORE YOU TO SEE REASON! NOT ONLY WILL HE SURELY FAIL SHOULD HE COME IN CONTACT WITH THE PIRATE QUEEN BUT HIS FAILURE WILL NO DOUBT BE HUMILIATING AND STAIN OUR REPUTATION ONCE AGAIN!"
"Can't hurt anymore than letting a damned orphan sit on the throne of a king."
"WHAT DID YOU JUST S…" Neito is cut off as a loud explosion is heard.
"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!" Itsuka cried out as she and Neito sprung up from the thrones.
"Canon fire," Hitoshi said as he placed a hand on the hilt of his sword, preparing to charge into battle with pirates. "But not against us." Izuku rushes to the window and suddenly points out to sea.
"It came from the Ocean Stead. They've left the dock and are firing on a ship across coast."
Damnit Mina what the hell are you doing.
"Damnit. That's not just any ship. Those torn, ashy black sails, and the skull and crossbones on the hull instead of the Jolly Roger. It's the Pirate League." That's when Himiko Toga came bursting through the doors to the throne room.
"COMMODORE! It's the Pirate League! They've arrived on the coast just off of the Port of Gold! Captain Ashido is holding them off for as long as they can! Oh, and one more thing," Himiko reached for her flintlock and aimed at the commodores, pulling back the hammer. "I resign."
