You know, I actually really like this idea.
Chapter 1: UnSimplicity
Lily. I had always hated that name. Not Azure, or Azura, or Sapphire. Not that I really liked blue things or something... But come on, my parents could have at least named me Sarah, and they chose Lily. A flower. I don't want to be a flower! I want to be a blade, something dangerous, something that stands out. But, to my dismay, I was just a simple weed in a sea of dignified roses. Especially among my kind.
I startled awake, a hand jerking my shoulder. I blinked and rubbed my eyes, stunned.
"-Lily?" I sat up, aware of my tousled hair falling from its bun. Kiana had spent at least half an hour on that bun. She was going to be disappointed. I muttered, "What did you say?" I looked up to find the tutor I can never remember the name of standing in front of me, eyebrows lifted. I just call her Grouchy. "I asked how you accept an invite to dance, but in French." I sqiunted, thinking about the question.
"Was it guten nacht?" Mrs. Grouchy scowled. "That's good night in German, Miss Lily." I slipped my hand over my face. "Well, that's fine too, because any prince who's foreign and coming here should've already learned this stuff." I dropped my hand and glared at her. "Isn't that what you told me?" Mrs. Grouchy pretended to look concerned. "Perhaps we should go over that again?"
Now it was my turn to scowl. "I'm leaving. Tell the guards." I muttered to the maids as I walked out of the pavilion, stepping away from the table I had been sitting at. One of them hurried behind me. "My lady, the guards don't drive-"
"I don't care!" I snapped. "Get the driver, then!" I stormed away, toward the entrance of the manor.
