Vaggie woke up in yet another room she had never seen before. The first thing she noticed was how weak she felt as she looked around the lavish room.
The sheets were silky, the pillows were perfectly comfortable, and the blankets were soft and warm. They were various shades of dark red. The king-sized bed had a chestnut bed frame.
Glass doors trimmed with chestnut opened to a balcony looking over the forest. The cool evening air blew in and caressed Vaggie's face. She felt so comfortable she almost felt like she was in heaven.
Vaggie looked around the room and noticed the matching chestnut furniture including a vanity, chests of drawers, a wardrobe, and matching bedside tables. She also noticed the vintage appliances including the phone, the lamps, a fan, and even a radio. Oh, no.
Vaggie immediately remembered where she was and what had happened. She looked around the room relieved to see no sign of Alastor and crawled her way to the edge of the bed.
Vaggie instantly felt hunger and weakness wash over her body. She was barely strong enough to stand. Everything inside her ached in pain and in hunger. The weariness in her nearly made her fall over, but she made herself stay on her feet as she walked to the door.
Unfortunately, when Vaggie checked the doorknob, it was locked. Of course.
Vaggie looked around for a possible exit and saw the balcony. She immediately got an idea. It was terrible, but it was the only idea she had. So, Vaggie wearily made her way to the balcony.
After pushing open the doors and stumbling across the marble balcony with vines growing on and around the railings, Vaggie stopped at the railing and looked down. It was a far way down with only a few trees to break her fall, but what other choice did she have?
Vaggie took a deep breath and climbed on top of the railing. Then after taking a deep breath, she hopped off the railing and braced herself to land in the branches of one of the trees below. The wind rushed around her as she fell.
Vaggie was almost in the tree. Unfortunately, that was the moment she saw a flash of red in the corner of her eye. Before another second passed, Vaggie was caught and brought safely to the ground. She looked up, and to her horror, saw Alastor carrying her bridal style in his arms.
Alastor chuckled gently as he looked Vaggie in the eyes and said, "Oh, my dear little Vaggie, did you really think it would be that easy?"
Vaggie had had enough. She immediately burst into tears of anger, sadness, and frustration. She let everything she felt come overflowing out of her eyes all while her eyes showed Alastor the extent of her fear and helplessness.
"I can't take it!" Vaggie cried. "I can't take it anymore! I've had enough! I'm done! Please, if you have any mercy at all, just take care of me already!"
Alastor smiled as he waved his fingers and caused an unknown perfume to fly up Vaggie's nose. The perfume immediately and quickly made Vaggie feel faint. Her head spun as she rested her head against Alastor's chest.
The last thing she heard Alastor say was, "Vaggie dear, if you wanted me to take care of you, why didn't you say so in the first place?"
