As I write this, my mind keeps reminding me as to how I'm supposed to write up plot for an actual story. Unfortunately for it (and my sanity) my muse gives exactly zero fucks.

So let's get to it!

Ruby Rose sighed in contentment as she settled down on her bed. Another day, and another set of classes done. Though today had been especially brutal since Miss Goodwitch had put first years against the second years during combat class. It had been an exciting prospect at first – she might not be Yang, but she does want to see how she stacks up to those ahead of her – up until she had found herself at the wrong end of Coco's minigun and experienced a world of hurt.

Seriously, she could coat the tiny arena with bullets – it just wasn't fair!

Although speaking of Coco's minigun, it's actually an amazing piece of mechashift. She must either be something else in terms of know-how or paid a premium to get it crafted by someone who is. And although handbags aren't the sort of things Ruby is really interested in, she thinks she can modify Crescent Rose to something similar, if given time.

Hmm… Maybe as a cookie carton?

The door to their bathroom opened and out came Yang. Her sister's got the last slot when using the bathroom, an arrangement borne out of a 3-to-1 agreement after the team had made the mistake of letting Yang Xiao-Long go first on an exam day. Ruby didn't pay her any mind, and instead focused on daydreaming about the changes that she'll have to make if Crescent Rose is to fold into a cookie carton. More joints would have to be added, but maybe if she used a different material it wouldn't affect-

"Uhh… hey, Rubes, did you leave that gun lying around?"

"Huh?" Ruby turned to regard her sister, who she then saw was pointing at something on the floor. Turning to look, Ruby spotted a black hunting rifle resting against the windowsill. "That isn't mine." She said, knowing that she'd only ever had Crescent Rose. But the weapon's color scheme points towards their other teammate. "Blake?"

Blake, who up until now had been content to read one of her books in silence, briefly turned to regard the weapon before getting back to a page. "Not mine." She said simply.

"And neither is it mine." Weiss, Ruby's partner and immediate bunkmate, preemptively answered after she'd pushed aside her covers to look at the weapon as well. "And since that also isn't Yang's, that means we have someone else's weapon in our dorm room."

"But how?" Yang wondered as she walked over to check the door to ensure that it's locked. "No one but us could get in here."

"Maybe Beacon's mailing system got the wrong address?" Weiss offered with a shrug. "It happens, I remember accidentally gifting team JNPR a new set of perfumes. Poor Nora thought it was Ren who had bought it for her and so I let them keep it."

"Soo… someone should be coming by once they realize the mistake, right?" Ruby asked.

Before either of her teammates could reply, they all heard someone making a racket in the hallway just outside of their dorm. "Maybe that's the delivery man?" Yang said, looking back to her teammates who merely shrugged. With no help from them, Yang decided that she could either be right or be shouting at someone to stop messing around in the hallways and opened the door.

"Hey, what's with the-!"

Yang wasn't able to finish her sentence before someone stormed past her, putting her off-balance after having been caught completely by surprise. Her teammates, meanwhile, had all gotten up and out of their beds as the intruder made his way into their dorm.

The intruder is a ruffled-looking man wearing a white polo shirt and blue jeans. This, combined with his black necktie, would've made him look not too different from an ordinary officer worker. However, any such notions are immediately dismissed by the heavy-duty helmet he has on his head, his combat gloves, and what is obviously a weapon holster around his waist.

"Can we help you!?" Demanded Weiss, who looked over the man and wasted no time in grabbing her rapier.

The man's head snapped around the room, and through the lenses of his heavy-duty helmet Ruby could see that his eyes are wide. Wary of the stranger, Ruby was just about to deploy Crescent Rose when the man's eyes locked onto the weapon lying against the windowsill and he let out a laugh.

"Finally!" The man rejoiced before rushing forwards to pick up the rifle before any of the girls could stop him. Deftly, he picked up the weapon and cycled the bolt, "A fucking gun at last! Now I can- wait, is that…?" His celebration is interrupted when he pressed himself up against the window. "Oh shit, there's someone at the courtyard!" He exclaims as he pushed himself away from the window and raised his rifle.

"Wait-!" Ruby activated her semblance and tackled the man, but she was just a second too late. With a loud bang, the man shattered RWBY's window with a bullet intended for what sounded like opportunistic murder.

With an 'oof', the man fell onto his back as Ruby and Blake wrestled him onto the floor. Weiss moved to secure his weapon, and Yang rushed to look out their now-shattered window.

"Blake, use your ribbon to-" Ruby started, but was interrupted by a shocked gasp from her sister.

"He just shot someone!" Yang exclaims, and her team felt a chill go down their spine. "What the fuck, there's someone bleeding out on the courtyard!"

Ruby's eyes widened in shock, and with rising confusion and rage, she rounded on the man who minutes ago had barged into their room and killed someone from it. "Why!?" She demanded, "Why did you do that!?"

The man, instead of expressing regret or defiance, instead smiled at the young leader's question.

"I just got a headshot baby! One less and I'll be chicken dinner!"

Team RWBY just stared on in disbelief and confusion at the completely nonsensical excused the man just spewed out after committing murder.

Should I go over this and edit it? Nah, fuck that. I did what I can, but tensing is probably still all over the place.

I've actually had the scene of someone barging into RWBY's dorm, setting up a sniper position, and then killing someone with zero explanation in my mind for a while. So I guess me finally playing PUBG after it went for free finally allowed me to put a face on the nebulous sniper.

Ugh. Muse, are you satisfied now? Will you cooperate and let me write up a plot and not instigate a change reasonable halfway through? Ha, who am I kidding? It demands my soul and will accept no less.
