This planet was different than Wolfsbania. That was one of the first things that crossed Remus Lupin's mind as he left the craft he'd escaped his home planet in. Wolfsbania was covered in forests and clothed in night. This planet wasn't entirely devoid of forests but it also wasn't covered in them either.

The sun blared down upon the sandy-furred Lycan prince alien as he tried to shield his eyes from the rays that burned them. He'd never felt such intense heat on his home planet. It was always night. Always a full moon too. He looked down to see his fur shrinking back into his skin and his body turning more humanoid.

This was a thing that rarely happened upon the planet Wolfsbania. There four or five times out of the lunar year that the Lycan of the planet took on their humanoid shape. But never because of such intense light like this. The only time a Lycan could take their humanoid form was when they were either in heat or rut.

Remus could feel the shame of his nature creep up into himself as he kept his head down to avoid damaging his eyes with the light. He'd never admit to anyone from his home planet that he wasn't the Alpha prince that he was thought to be. He'd only just come of the age when young Wolfsbanian people figure out their true nature. His parents had seemed pleased when he'd lied and told them what they'd wanted to hear.

"Hey," snapped a voice from in front of him. "Watch where you're going, buddy?"

Remus looked and wished he hadn't. He knew this being from Wolfsbania. This was one of the people he'd been hoping to avoid on his journey to find a place where he could truly be himself. Fenrir Greyback. The most hated of Wolfsbanians. He'd taken pleasure in capturing young handsome omegas and holding them hostage. If their parents paid handsomely the boy or girl was returned without harm. If the parents refused or could not come up with the money to pay for the omega child's return he'd hold them captive until he'd given his seed enough time to latch on and grow within them.

"I'm sorry," he mumbled, backing away quickly hoping and praying that Greyback didn't realize who he was. There had been a rumor a while back before Greyback had left that he was looking to take the Prince captive. Remus wasn't entirely ready to find out if it was true or not.

"I know you, don't I?" Greyback was saying as Remus broke into a run in the opposite direction.

Remus mentally slapped himself in the face as he ran. He'd basically given away the fact that he was Wolfsbian already. He could tell by the quickening pace of Greyback's feet as he pounded after him.

"Shit!" Remus exclaimed, receiving weird looks from the passersby around him. He then realized he'd spoken aloud in Wolfsbanian and not the language that Greyback had used to threaten him.

He turned his head to see Greyback wasn't too far away. He could try and lose the older being in the crowd. But he was highly doubtful of that. After all, Wolfsbanians had a heightened sense of smell and could scent prey from more than a mile away.

Then there was the fact that had made Remus curse in the first place. Of all the times for him to go into heat, it had to happen now. When a known predator like Greyback was on his tail. The scent of him temporarily making Remus stand still before he came to his senses. He didn't want Greyback to catch him.

"Are you alright?" a gentle voice asked by his side.

He turned and his eyes landed upon the most beautiful being he'd ever seen in his entire life. The long flowing raven black hair came down to his shoulders making him seem more feminine than he was. His storm cloud grey eyes pulled Remus even further in and made him feel like he was drowning in them. The smile did strange things to his brain. The things he'd only heard of from others of his kind that had found their given mate. But that was impossible. Wasn't it? This being wasn't like his kind.

"There you are?" Greyback said, having caught up to Remus when he'd stopped and looked at the handsome angel man next to him. His hand clutched heavily and greedily upon Remus's shoulder. "It's time to come with me, love. You know you don't have a choice in the matter."

Remus couldn't help the guilty moan of pleasure that escaped him when the heavy hand tried to pull him along. His chemical makeup was sending all sorts of signals to his body. Confusing signals. Signals telling him that he needed to….

"I don't think he wants to go with you," the voice of the angel man interfered with Greyback's commanding presence over Remus. "I think he'd be very happy staying right where he is. Would you be?"

Remus's head was spinning. He could see that both men were staring at him. Greyback with a leering demanding look that brokered no safe harbor from the pain he'd inflict upon Remus. The other man with a soft smiling face. A face that promised no pain of any kind. He couldn't decide which was the right one to go with. He moaned in confusion as he wriggled against the fabric of his clothes.

"You know what your purpose is," Greyback said, hunger clear in his voice. "You know to whom you belong."

"He isn't property," the other man said, glaring at Greyback. "He can make his own choices and decide his own purpose for being."

Greyback snarled at the man. His Wolfsbanian form coming to the forefront of his being. His teeth were elongating into the fangs of his grey-furred wolfman being. His nails were becoming claws. His eyes had yellowed and narrowed to slits as he glared angrily at the man. He towered over Remus. The usual show of dominance for an alpha Wolfsbanian.

"You can go with him if you want to," the other man said, looking deep into Remus's eyes and talking to a part of Remus that not even he knew he had. The part of Remus that this monster towering over him wanted to claim as his own. "But I don't think you want to go with this monster, do you?"

Remus avoided looking at Greyback as he shook his head. A stab of pain went through his brain as though that part had already been claimed by Greyback and he just didn't know it yet. But gritting his teeth, Remus reached out to the man with the kind face and stormy eyes.

"Come on," the other man said, pulling him by the hand. "Let's get away from this creep and get you somewhere safe, huh?"

"Yes," Remus said, feeling an attachment to this unknown man. Feeling like coming to this planet. Earth. Was something that he was meant to do. That this man was his destiny and one shouldn't ignore their destiny. Remus knew that much was true.

"You won't get away with this!" Greyback screamed after them. "I will have you, Prince Remus and not even your new little friend will stop me. You mark my words, boy!"

Remus could feel his face flush and his blood boil at the very thought of Greyback even deeming to call him a boy. He may be what people like Greyback considered a lower class of Wolfsbanian but he is also a prince. And such he was worthy of much more respect than he'd been shown by the cast out.

He was so lost in his thoughts that he hadn't realized when they'd come to a stop outside of a towering Victorian-era house. Remus looked up in awe. They didn't have such beautiful structures on his planet. Wolfsbania's housing was much more accessible than this looked like it would be.

"I hope you don't mind me bringing you to my house?" the man asked, looking at Remus as he searched around the perimeter of the house for something. "That man looked about ready to murder us both." He chuckled sending a burning tendril of fire into Remus's entire body.

"I don't mind," Remus said, looking around and taking in his surroundings. "Your houses are such tall structures here."

"They aren't where you're from?" Sirius asked, picking up what seemed to be a ladder from the sodden grass.

"No," Remus said, following Sirius as he walked around to the back of the house. "We have needs that require our buildings to be easily accessible." He blushed even though Sirius wasn't looking at him.

"Like for people with special needs?"

"Um...sort of." He could hear the howling baying of his lupine nature caged upon his arrival upon this planet screaming for attention.

"Sort of, huh?" the other man asked, looking up and adjusting the ladder to the right height to reach the window they were standing under. "How can they sort of be for special needs people? They either are or they aren't. There can't be a sort of."

"It's a complicated story," Remus said, watching the handsome man kneeled down and put something against the ladder to steady it. "One that I would not feel comfortable talking about where someone can…"

"You mean that guy from earlier, don't you? I think we pretty much lost him. So, you don't have to be afraid of him showing up or anything like that."

Remus laughed a pained laugh. This man didn't know anything about Remus's planet, Wolfsbania, and he was making assumptions that could have implications for Remus's life. "You can't know that," he said, looking at the other man as the dark-haired man stood back and motioning up the ladder.

"Then why don't you explain?" the man asked, folding his arms over his chest. "I'm certainly going to listen to whatever you say."

"I will explain but not here." Remus tried to bite back upon his anger. He wasn't angry at this man. He was angrier at himself and his own chemical makeup for what was going on now. But he couldn't control his anger. Not in this state. Not with how riled up he'd gotten between Greyback's scenting him and marking him as his future conquest, and his own desire for this man to make him his.

"Maybe I won't let you up in the house until you explain what you mean?"

Remus growled a low pitiful thing. A growl that showed how weak he was. A growl that showed his status as one of those who people like Greyback used and then acted like they were nothing. A growl that almost came out as a whine.

"Fine," the other man said, nodding up the ladder at the open window. "We can discuss it inside if that will make you feel that much safer."

"Thank you," Remus said, climbing up the ladder and hoping that he could contain himself until he reached the window and safety of the room.

"No problem."

Once they crawled through the window Remus was led through a sort of maze of hallways and stairs until they reached a door with a sign that read keep out. The other man opened the door and motioned Remus inside the room.

The room was rather poshly decorated. Remus could tell that whoever chose the furnishing and finishings for this room had good taste. The soft plush maroon of the carpet felt nice under his feet. The golden daffodil paint upon the wall was gorgeous and a thing that Remus would have chosen for his own room. The furniture was rich dark oak wood that reminded him so much of home he felt like crying. The wooden forests of Wolfsbania called out to him from the very sight of such oak finishings it made his entire body ache.

Realizing he was just standing there and staring at the room in a dazed state he turned to the young man who'd helped him. "I'm sorry," he said, looking at his feet nervously. "I didn't even get a chance to properly introduce myself. I am Remus Lupin."

"Sirius Black," the dark mysterious stranger said, shaking Remus's hand which sent Remus's mind reeling for a moment. Was this how people on this planet showed their interest in mating? Was this man asking permission to do as Greyback threatened to? Sirius must have realized he'd done something that could be construed as wrong. He pulled his hand back hastily and watched Remus. "I'm sorry. If I offended you, that is."

"You didn't."

"You were going to explain the whole sort of special needs thing when got somewhere safe," Sirius said, reminding Remus of his promise to explain himself.

"Have you heard of the planet Wolfsbania?" Remus asked, watching as Sirius gave him an exasperated look. "It is a real planet. I promise you it is."

"Okay. If it's real what does it look like then?"

"Wolfsbania, planet of eternal moonlight and forest," Remus said, longing to take this human there and show him the wonders. "It much too difficult to explain. One must see the wonders of the world in person."

"It's difficult to explain because it doesn't exist," Sirius said, smirking and folding his arms over his well-muscled chest. "I've never heard of this planet Wolfsbania before and I'm sure I won't find it in archives of my family's library."

"Just because you've never heard of it doesn't mean it doesn't exist," Remus retorted, nodding as he let his point sink in.

"Alright," Sirius said, slowly sinking to his bed. "Let's say that I believe your planet exists. What sort of people are you and your people? Do they all act like that guy from earlier? Why if it's so perfect are you here?"

"Wolfsbanians are what your people would probably call a lycan based alien species," Remus explained. "We spend most of our lives in our alien form. Our natural form if you will."

"What is your natural form?" Sirius asked, raising an eyebrow at the strange man who'd introduced himself as Remus. Not prince Remus or anything. Even though the other man had said Remus was a prince. "If this isn't it that is?"

"Can you not guess based on the whole lycan based wording of what I've said?" Remus asked, the teasing tone coming naturally from his tongue. "We are naturally a wolf-formed people. The Wolfbanians. My true form is that of a sandy grey-furred wolf."

"Okay," Sirius murmured, looking at Remus closely as hoping to catch sight of some wolf-like features. "Let's say I believe you and go on from there."

"Okay. There are four times in four months a lunar year that all Wolfsbanians are not in their true form. They take on the form of a humanoid being such as yourself. Those are the times of heat and rut. But I believe there is more to life than living a needs-based existence. Such as the ones that all Wolfsbanians live. So, I left my home to show the others that there was more to life than being someone's property every other fourth month during the lunar year."

"Um...I need more of an explanation."

"What about?"

"What are the terms heat and rut used for? You make it seem like a….a….you know….sexual thing."

"That's because it is," Remus said, feeling himself open up more and more to this man. The man who most certainly must be his mate. Why else would he feel comfortable opening up about his species and life? "The upper class, the ones who are considered of higher breeding, are considered alphas of their packs. They are the stronger ones who take care of the whole pack. The lower class, the ones who are considered of weaker breeding, are considered the omegas of the pack. They serve as means of….well they serve the pack by increasing the numbers."

"Increasing the numbers?" Sirius asked, cocking his head to the side and trying to make what he'd heard make sense.

"They are what would be considered breeders," Remus explained. "They are chosen by an alpha and as you eloquently put it sexual things happen."

"Why do you use the words 'are considered' when you explain the two classes though?" Sirius asked. "Again they either are or they aren't. They can't…"

"Because recently the upper and lower class have mixed more than they should have. Most alphas choose to marry another alpha bring forth heirs with them. But the ruling family of Wolfsbania. My family. The Lupin family. We started a trend that has seen most of the family being alphas and a handful of being…." Remus hung his head.

"Omegas, right?"

Remus nodded. "My father current Lupin King married my omega mother against his family's will," he explained. "They knew what would happen. But they'd fallen in love and two people in love don't truly think rationally. They married for love and they had me." He took in a deep pained breath as though telling the story was agony which it was but he didn't want Sirius to know this. "No one thought anything of it. Most children of alphas and omegas usually fall into the unknown category until they are acknowledged as alphas. But if you have too much omega in your family genes you risk the chance of becoming an omega."

"You say that as if you…"

"I was thought to have been an alpha from the moment of my birth. I had been groomed to take over my father's role as leader of the pack. But upon my coming of age at the age of fourteen, it was discovered that my leadership was proclaimed too early. I had turned out to be as much of an omega as my mother was. My people don't know a thing. It has been kept quiet and out of their hearing. This is why I decided to prove to them that there is more to life than being a leader or a leader's property."

"Wow," said Sirius, looking at Remus appraisingly. "So, you're like one of those leaders who is trying to actually make things better for your people. That's actually kind of cool!"

Remus smiled and nodded. Something about the praise that Sirius was showering him with felt right. It felt like something that was meant to be.

"What about that creepshow guy that tried to attack you earlier?" Sirius said, watching as Remus's smile slowly disappeared.

"Fenrir Greyback," Remus said, hating the way his mouth felt all slimy just from saying the name. "He's the worst kind of alpha there is. He takes the whole omegas are property thing too far."

"Too far?"

"If you are an omega from a prominent family he will kidnap you and hold you hostage. If your parents can afford or want to pay the ransom he will allow you to freely return home unharmed or molested. But if your parents can't afford to or flat out refuse to pay the ransom you will be held hostage until he gets a child upon you."

"He sounds like an asshat," Sirius said, hating the very being that Fenrir Greyback. "Has anyone tried to fight him before?"

"Yes," Remus said, blushing. "My father fought him for my mother because her parents wouldn't fight for her. That is why Greyback targetted me as soon as he realized who I was."

"Then you're not safe out there on the streets," Sirius said, looking uneasy about the prospect of Remus being hurt or worse by this Greyback.

"Sirius Orion Black," his mother's blood-cruddling voice called from downstairs, "You come down here right this instant. You are in such deep trouble now."

Sirius looked hurriedly over at Remus who looked uneasy. His back was ridgid and the hair was up on the back of his neck. Sirius smiled softly in a way he hoped would be encouraging. He patted the bed as he got up.

"Make yourself comfortable," he said, walking to the door. "I'm not going to let anything happen to you." He realized that Remus was shaking where he stood. "I promise."

Sirius could hear a male's voice talking with his parents as he walked towards the stairs to the parlor. The voice sounded familiar and he hated the fact that the scuzziest Wolfsbanian in the world had found Remus.

"My friend's son is a very flighty boy," Greyback was saying as Sirius made his way into the parlor. "He gets upset easily and takes flight for long periods of time. I did however promise his father that I would return him safely home. If your son could perhaps…."

"Mother, Father," Sirius said, cutting the creature off in his formal speech, "how can I help you?"

He could see his brother Regulus's eyes go huge in surprise at the fact that he'd cut off an adult liek that. If only Regulus knew of the surprise that was waiting upstair, afraid to be sent home with this creature. He wouldn't look so shocked, Sirius was sure of that much.

"Mr. Greymark…"

"Greyback," the man interrupted Sirius's mother, pleasing Sirius more than anything. If there was one thing his mother hated more than anything it was rudeness. Maybe that would work against Greyback.

"Mr. Greyback, here is looking for the son of a friend of his," Sirius's father, Orion, said, watching Sirius closely. "The boy's name is Remus and he says that you were the last one he was seen with. He's run away from home, son, and his parents are very concerned about him. We promised that we'd help Mr. Greyback find him. Can you tell us where the last place you saw him was?"

"He was getting on a train to somewhere east of Sofolk," Sirius said, the lie coming easily from his lips as though it actually was the truth. "That was a couple of minutes after we escaped Mr. Greyback quote on quote loving care."

"Sirius, don't be childish. This man is only trying to help his friend."

"I'm not. And I dont' think he's actually trying to help anyone. Remus seemed much too afraid of him for that to be true."

"Is that the boy's name?" Orion asked, turning to Greyback and watching him.

"It is. As I said, Remus is a very flighty boy and sometimes his mind tells him he's going to be hurt by people who only wish to help him. It is important that we find this poor lad before he gets himself hurt or worse."

"Quite so," Sirius's mother, Walburga said, wiping a tear from her eye that Sirius knew wasn't actually there. "We do anything in or power to help you find this poor missing lamb. Won't we, Sirius?"

"Of course," Sirius said, knowing he had to get back to Remus so that the two fo them could formulate a plan to keep him safe. "We wouldn't want anything bad to happen to him at all."

"Kids," Orion said as Sirius snuck out of the room.

As he made his way back up the stairs he could hear his father's voice droning on about going with Greyback to Solfolk in order to find Remus. When he was sure his footsteps wouldn't be heard, Sirius broke into a run. It wasn't until he was in his room and the door was reopening behind that he realized that Regulus had followed him up the stairs.

"You lied," Regulus said, staring at the white-faced boy who clung to Sirius like he was a life raft adrift in a battering sea. "I'm telling Mummy and Daddy."

"Reg, wait," Sirius said, motioning for his brother to stop. "Just hear us out and if you still think that I'm lying or hiding something from you then you can go tell Mum and Dad all you want. But first just listen to what we have to say."

Regulus looked nervously between the two older boys and then nodded that he'd listen. He sank onto Sirius's bed as Remus launched into the story that Sirius already knew by heart. He prayed that Remus would be able to convince Regulus to help them with their plan whatever that might be. If not they'd have to find a way out of there now.

I hope you all enjoyed the first chapter of From Wolfsbania With Love as much as I enjoyed writing it.
