5 November First

By the time Vince realized where all the monster ghosts were coming from they were vanishing. He'd followed the ecto-storm to the edge of town when he spotted the vortex above the schools rented haunted house. His heart seemed to drop off his hoverboard. Dani was there. But by the time he got to the house the storm had vanished. He spotted Dani, Sam and Tanya leaving the house and breathed a sigh of relief. They looked fine, he sped off before they spotted them. Honestly he was glad he'd been out patrolling that night. The book he'd received with his hunting equipment had outlined a few days of the year that ghosts would be more active than others, Halloween was one of the most active days of the year. The theory went that more natural portals to the Ghost Zone opened on Halloween. He sped off to keep an eye on the rest of Amity Park.

The trio arrived at Tanya's house and she released the other two to unlock the door. They headed straight for the the attic. It was one of their main hangout spots, filled with Tanya's computer equipment. Luckily for them Tanya's mother Angelica was a nurse. On their way up to the attic Sam grabbed the industrial first aid kit out of the bathroom. Dani flopped down on the old chaise and groaned in pain, curling in on herself slightly. Tanya frowned. Dani forced a smile. Sam flicked her in the forehead.

"I saw the ectoplasm fly, let me see." He insisted and Dani uncurled and pulled her shirt up slightly. The cut was about the length of Sam's hand and as wide as two of his fingers. Tanya hissed in sympathy and Dani frowned.

"It wasn't that bad before." She commented blithely. Tanya shook her head at Dani and Sam nodded.

"Yeah, that's what happens when you get a metal boot to an open wound, it tears." He commented digging around in the kit. After a moment he pulled out a bottle of disinfectant and a suture kit. Dani frowned.

"Nooo. I'll be fine, I don't need stitches." She insisted and Sam rolled his eyes at her.

"Dani it's still bleeding, we need to stitch it up. Even you won't heal from this easily." Sam insisted and Tanya nodded speaking for the first time since reappearing.

"He's right." She said her voice hoarse, though the why wasn't clear. Her eyes were slightly haunted as she stared at the glowing blood on Dani's shirt and torso. Sam turned to Tanya.

"Can you grab her a new shirt? Her's is kinda a mess." Tanya nodded, seeming to snap back to herself as she rushed away back down the stairs. Sam carefully disinfected the wound and frowned as he threaded the needle. "This is gonna hurt, please try not to scream." Dani nodded her hand tightening on the side of the chaise. To her credit Dani didn't scream she did flinch though as Sam began to sew up the injury. It took him seven stitches to close the wound entirely. They weren't even, or at least not as even as he wanted them to be. He tried to get through this as fast as he could but it still took time. Tanya had returned by the time Sam clipped the thread. He carefully placed a dressing over the injury as Tanya held out the clothes she'd brought with her. They were some that Dani had left behind. She had also brought a damp red washcloth with her. Sam headed back out of the attic to put away the first aid kit. When he returned Dani and Tanya were both sitting on the chaise, Dani had changed out of her ruined top and scrapped off the fake zombie bite on her arm. She was helping Tanya peel off the zombie makeup she was wearing. Dani spotted him and smiled tiredly patting the small spot on the chaise next to her. The three of them sat there together for a while. Dani dropped off first, exhausted from her fight with the Fright Knight. Tanya let out a shaky breath and took Sam's hand, squeezing it, her other arm still looped around Dani's sleeping form.

"I'm glad you two are ok." Tanya said, her voice still hoarse. Sam nodded squeezing her hand back. Tanya had literally taken a sword to the chest for Dani, though it hadn't killed her if the legend was right then it would have made her live her absolute worst nightmare. Sam had no idea what that would be, but if the look in her eyes was any indication Sam would guess he and Dani had featured in it, though how prominently he had no idea. He didn't ask, she didn't seem too keen to tell. Some part of him knew he didn't want to know, some part of him was curious what he would have seen at the knick of that blade. He shook his head carefully sitting forward he pulled off the cloak he wore and swung it around the three of them. Dani was cold, even in sleep colder than a normal human. Sam suspected that it was because of her ghost powers but right now it didn't matter. They were here together, they had lived through the night and that was what mattered. He smiled to himself as the sun began to peek through the tiny attic window.

Jazz was concerned when Dani didn't come home that night. When her parents got home their mother told Jazz that Dani was crashing at Tanya's for the night. That relieved Jazz a bit. Sam and Tanya were the only other people who knew Dani's secret, though Dani didn't know that Jazz knew. Jazz wanted Dani to tell her the truth, though she'd found out a while ago. With everything that had happened that night Jazz was sure Dani had been busy fighting ghosts and solving whatever had caused the green storm. It was all anyone would talk about. Jazz shook her head. The fact that ghosts were real was becoming a much more widely accepted thing these days.

Between the frequent, though always faraway, sightings of the Ghost Girl, Dani in reality though the news never needed to know that, and the threats that kept popping up no one would be able to deny it for long. She'd overheard Lancer talking to one of the other teachers about possible anti ghost measures that could be employed at the school. Jazz was starting to get more and more worried about Dani. She shook herself as she made her coffee. It was maybe a bit late in the day for it but she hadn't slept well and needed something to help her focus on her homework. The front door opened and Jazz poked her head into the living room and smiled lightly.

"Hey Dani!" Jazz greeted her sister who mumbled noncommittally and headed up the stairs, a large Fenton gun strapped to her back.

"Dani sweetie you're back, hope you didn't stay up all night." Maddie said by way of greeting. Dani yawned unstrapping the Fenton Foamer from her back and handing it to her mother.

"Nah, we just watched some movies. I'm gonna take a quick shower. Oh and Sam says thanks for lending him the Foamer." She said yawning again. Maddie smiled checking over the weapon, it was running low on power, it had definitely been used. Considering the ecto-storm that had raged over the haunted house last night it didn't really surprise her that the weapon had been put to use.

"Was he any good with it?" Maddie asked genuinely curious. Dani nodded, grinning slightly.

"A crack shot in the making." She said slipping into her room to grab something to change into after her shower. Maddie smiled thinking that maybe it would be a good idea to give Sam something he could keep to guard against ghosts, it would certainly make her feel better if she knew Dani and her friends were safe. She knew Jazz still kept the Fenton Peeler in her purse maybe it was time to make another.
