21 Together
Being trapped in the Ghost Zone was bad enough, handcuffed to the Red Hunter that made it worse. Being hunted like animals by Skulker well that was the cherry on top. They'd made it off Skulker's island. That was good, now they'd pulled up and were trying to find a way to get the cuffs off. Skulker had taken Vince's weapons and Dani couldn't use her powers. They were sort of shit out of luck and Dani knew it. She shook her head. Vince was hitting the chain between their hands with a rock. He grumbled.
"You know you could at least try to help!" He snapped.
"Because a rock is totally gonna help." Dani snipped rolling her eyes.
"Oh so you can talk. But only in sarcasm." Vince griped striking the chain.
"You don't listen, why would I wanna talk to someone who just shoots first." Vince paused. He sighed.
"Ok fine, since we don't really have a choice truce. For now. You cut the sarcasm, I'll try and listen. Where the fuck are we?" Dani sat up straighter.
"It's the Ghost Zone. It's where the ghosts go after they die." After they die not after we die, Vince filed that away for later. "The guy hunting us is Skulker, he claims to be the Ghost's Zone's greatest hunter, though he hasn't been able to catch me yet. Well not long enough to skin me like he keeps threatening."
"Well that's disgusting. Moving on. How do we get out of here?" He asked.
"I know right. I can probably get us back to the Fenton Portal if we can find our way either back to Skulker's Island or the Fright Night's palace."
"You could have gotten us back from the island?! Wait the Fenton's have a portal to the Ghost Zone?!" Vince was incensed.
"You picked a door before I could tell you which one!" She shot back, electing not to answer the second question. He rolled his eye slamming the rock back into the chain. This time the rock crumbled away and a shock passed through the cuffs, it was minor and a small box on each cuff lit up and a small screen appeared, projected from the cuffs themselves.
"As much as I would enjoy tracking the smell of fear and beans across the infinite realms I have something here you both want." The image of Skulker smirked at them holding up the flour sack.
"We have to go back!" They both said it at the same moment, though Dani quickly backtracked.
"Even though I have no idea why that thing is so important." She said blinking innocently. She wasn't sure if it worked or not but between the two of them they managed to get back to Skulker's island and take him out with one of his own traps. Dani grabbed the key off his belt and disconnected the cuffs. She breathed a sigh of relief as she felt her power surge back through her. She stretched and rubbed her arms which were still slightly numb from the paralysis dart. Vince sighed looking at the slightly battered flour sack in his arms.
"Well, at least it's mostly in one piece." Dani laughed lightly. Vince glared at her but there was a bit less heat behind it than there had been before. "Was that your dog?"
"Dog? What Cujo? Are you still on that? No I already told you he wasn't mine! He was one of the dogs Axiom put down when they upgraded their security. He just wanted his toy back. Neither of us were trying to hurt you." Dani snapped and Vince stared at her for a minute.
"Ok we'll keep the truce for now. Get me out of this creepy place and we'll see how long it lasts." He said and Dani blinked at him.
"Seriously?" He nodded. She grinned and held out a hand to him. "Deal." He hesitated but shook her hand.
"Ok, get me out of here." He demanded and Dani grinned.
"Ok, but we have to do it my way." She said before quickly possessing him and flying them both out of the Ghost Zone, she was getting better at remembering the way around, relative to the Fenton Portal. She flew them through her house and back to Vince's place. She left him asleep on the bed, he needed the rest, it felt like he hadn't slept in ages. She shook her head and made to step out of his room and nearly tripped over the Nasty Nate costume. She swore under her breath. She'd had no idea this was the job he was talking about. She'd had no idea he had two jobs. It really wasn't fair that whoever was sending him ghost hunting equipment wasn't also paying him for his trouble. He stirred on the bed and she went invisible slipping out of his room and out into the hall of the apartment building. She glanced around making sure no one was around and let herself become visible as Dani Fenton. She knocked on the door. In a few minutes Vince answered, back in his street clothes.
"Hey, it's my turn with the kid." She said like she hadn't been fighting for her life all day. Vince sighed running a hand over his face.
"Please don't be mad at me." He said before pulling the damaged four bag off the table next to him. Dani snorted a laugh.
"Holy shit, what happened?" She had to hold back some of her laughter, this situation shouldn't be funny to Dani Fenton. She should be mad but she just couldn't bring herself to be angry. She was too happy about their tentative truce.
"You'd never believe me." He snorted and they both laughed.
"Well at least it's mostly in one piece." Dani commented taking the sack. "I'll see you in class tomorrow." She said suppressing her laughter. She left and Vince closed the door behind her. Once she was gone he frowned. Hadn't that been exactly what he'd said to the ghost girl? He shook his head. He was just tired, reading too much into things. He turned back to his room, looking forward to getting some sleep.
