Gar, Rose, and Rachel entered the medical bay and Gar took a moment to look around. There were tables that looked far better than any hospital bed he had ever seen and machines all over the place. He was still getting used to the fact he was now in one of the richest areas in the world. Constantly seeing the utilities his new team had kept reminding him of what money can actually buy.

Rachel went over to a bench and grabbed a clipboard with a list on it. He tried to see what the list contained but even his advanced sight couldn't detect what was on it. She put on some latex gloves and grabbed a pen. Turning her head, she spoke to Gar.

"You're not allergic to latex are you?"

Shaking his head no, she gave him a nod. Rose was standing off to the side watching Gar and making sure he would be alright. Like her brother, she saw him briefly tense when they were on the roof and it concerned her. Was there something that happened to Gar that gave him a sense of distrust when it came to doctors? What if he lost his control and had an anxiety attack? Would he hurt her or Rachel trying to make sure he wouldn't be harmed himself? These thoughts swam around in her head briefly until Rachel spoke again.

"Okay Gar, I'll need you to take off your clothes and sit on the table over here so I can check everything."

Gar raised an eyebrow and gave her a look.

"How far do I need to undress?"

Rachel gave a playful smile towards him.

"Well being that your girlfriend is here, I don't want any trouble. I'm sure she wouldn't like it if I asked you to get naked. Just down to your briefs would be sufficient."

Rose chuckled and Gar gave a smirk before he took his shirt off, revealing to the girls his chiseled body. Rose felt her mouth begin to water and subconsciously licked her lips. She watched his muscles move and flex as he laid his shirt on the table behind him and took off his pants, leaving him in nothing but his compression shorts.

Even Rachel could admit, the boy was hot. Both girls looked up and down at his body and scanned their eyes over his tattoo covered frame. Their eyes both landed on a bulge in his shorts. Rose was fighting to get ahold of herself, reminding herself of the fact that her best friend was in the same room and she was pretty sure that she didn't want to see her and Gar getting it on.

"Wow Rose, I have to admit, you have excellent taste when it comes to men."

Smirking slightly, she turned her head to Rachel.

"Why thank you. Let's be glad dad made you team doctor because my 'exam' would be very different for Gar."

Gar smirked at her and gave her a wink. Rachel walked over to start the exam and took a look at his tattoos. She found herself in awe over them. The detail was exquisite and the line work was very precise. The more she saw, the more she liked.

"I never knew you had all these tattoos. I thought superheroes weren't supposed to have them."

Gar shrugged his shoulders.

"There's not really a rule against it, nobody just has any. I had the money set aside and had been planning on what I wanted to get for a long time."

She looked at his leg and then his back. She didn't know that he had considered himself religious. Her curiosity got the better of her and asked a question.

"Didn't know you were religious. How'd you come about to be so?"

Gar's face shifted into a smile. Not an amusing or joking smile, but a smile that would adorn your face when you seemed to be remembering old fond memories.

"My father was Catholic. He used to read me stories before bed that were made into children's books when I was little. I always found it fascinating and wanted to learn more."

Rachel nodded her head, still looking at his back. The face of Christ that greeted her on his back had every detail down to the blood dripping from the crown of thorns. Peering around to look at his face, she asked another question.

"What happened to your parents?"

Gar's smile dropped immediately. Both girls saw it and shared a look with each other. They grew slightly worried and nervous at the change in demeanor. Gar's face shifted into the same look that they witnessed in the gym and the main room. Before either girl could voice their concern, Gar spoke.

"I'd rather not talk about it right now. I'll tell you guys eventually, but it's something I don't really want to discuss at the moment."

Rachel nodded her head at him and rested her hand on his shoulder.

"I'm sorry."

Gar nodded his head and turned to give her a small but assuring smile.

"It's okay. Like I said, I'll tell all you guys eventually. It's just something I have a hard time with."

Rose walked over to him and cupped his cheek. She turned his head towards her and gently stroked his cheek.

"There's no need to rush. When you're ready, we'll all be here for you. It's your privacy and we'll respect it."

Giving her a thankful smile, he reached up and placed his hand over hers. He gave it a slight squeeze before letting go so she could remove her hand for Rachel to start her exam.

"Okay, we're going to do the basics. I'll check your toning and make sure there's no damage or any lingering effects going on in your body. It shouldn't take long and I promise nothing will hurt you."

Nodding his head, Gar sat back on the table. Rachel began checking the tone of his muscles and looking over any scars or signs of previous injury. She noticed a couple of scars on his chest and along his stomach. There was also a minor cut along his neck and thighs.

"What happened with these cuts?"

Gar briefly tensed up and his eyes widened slightly. Rose saw it, but Rachel was too busy writing on the clipboard to notice anything. Rose was pretty sure that something had happened in his past that had to be traumatic that caused these scars. If it had been from a battle, she doubted he wouldn't have had that reaction.

Gar noticed her watching him with a concerned look and began to think on the fly for a response. He was sure Rose saw his reaction to the question and he was silently cursing himself. Rachel turned around awaiting an answer, so he came up with something he thought would be deemed as truthful.

"Just small battle scars. Couple of times flying through a window, getting cut from weapons. You know, the typical wear and tear of being a superhero."

Rachel nodded her head and looked down to write some more notes on her clipboard. He breathed a silent sigh of relief and thought he did a good job at covering it up. He shifted his gaze and locked eyes with Rose. Her eyes were narrowed at him. Not in malice, but he could tell she knew he was lying. She noticed his eyes pleading with her not to say anything and she relaxed her features a bit. It wasn't her job to tell him what he should and shouldn't say. If there was something he wasn't ready to share, she wasn't going to push him.

He gave her silent nod of the head, realizing she got the message. He found the corners of his mouth curling up into a smile as they continued their staring contest and he saw her mouth do the same. He was falling for her. She was way different than any of his previous romantic attractions. For her to be willing to keep quiet when she knew he was lying, but he wasn't ready to share anything, really touched him. He didn't have a lot of experience when it came to a love life, but he knew this was something that seemed to be a good sign.

Rachel put down her clipboard and spoke to let Gar know they were almost finished with the exam.

"Alright Gar, we're almost done. All in all, everything looks good which was to be expected. I just need one more thing from you."

She turned to go into a cabinet and pulled out a syringe. Gar saw what she took out and immediately became on guard. One thing he hated was needles. Sure he had tattoos, but that's different. He wasn't forced to be strapped down and have something plunged into him. Plus when he was done with a tattoo, it left him feeling good with the outcome. When it came to medical devices however, things weren't exactly as nice.

Rose saw his shift and wondered if this was where things were about to go south. There was nothing his his file that spoke of his past, but whenever something would be brought up from it, it usually didn't go very well. Watching Rachel attach the needle to the barrel of the syringe, she began to get a feeling in her gut that something wasn't going to make Gar happy.

"What are you doing?"

Rachel looked up to see Gar. She noticed his eyes fixed on the syringe and was slightly curious. His face held a look of worry and fear, causing her to become confused. She walked over to him and saw him begin to tense up, never taking his eyes of the object in her hands.

"I just to take a sample of your blood for us to look at and observe."

She was about to inject the needle into his arm, when at an amazing speed his hand shot out to smack her arm, sending the syringe to go flying to the floor. Before either girl had time to process what happened, Rachel felt a foot hit her in her gut sending her to the floor and taking her breath away. Gar jumped up and got into a defensive stance immediately.

Rose saw all of this and knew that she should have trusted her gut feeling. Watching Gar, she saw that his eyes were now primal and he was looking for a way to escape the room. Running past Rachel and over to him, she pushed him down onto the table to try and calm him down. He began to fight with her and tried to get her off. He began to growl in anger and in a warning tone, as if he was a cornered prey trying to ward off a bigger predator.

Rachel finally regained her bearings and noticed Rose struggling with Gar. She got up and joined Rose, trying to assist her in restraining Gar. When both saw that he wasn't giving up, Rose tried to see if she could get through to him.

"Gar calm down! You're going to hurt yourself!"

Nothing seemed to reach him. He was in fight or flight mode and clearly had elected to fight. Seeing that her words had no affect on him, she tried a different approach.

She reached her hands up to cup his face and pulled his head towards her so that they were looking each other in the eye. She dipped her head down and pressed her lips onto his, kissing him hard and ferociously. She felt him tense again, then slightly relax. He was no longer flailing his arms at them trying to fight his way out of their grasp. Once she felt that it was okay to do so, she pulled away to look at him.

His eyes seemed to focus again and he started to catch his breath. It seemed he realized who was in front of him and his face immediately filled with regret. Noticing that he was now calmer, she spoke to him.

"It's okay. We're not going to hurt you baby. We just need to take your blood so we can help you. My father wants you to reach your full potential and seeing the make up in your DNA will go a long way with that."

She spoke to him smoothly and began to stroke his cheek. She saw him relax completely and she gave him a reassuring smile. Rachel looked at the boy and began to feel regret and guilt. She didn't mean to upset him and seeing his reaction made her fear he would start to resent her. She wanted to get his attention so she walked up to where she'd be in his line of sight. He looked over to her and she spoke.

"I'm sorry Gar, I didn't mean to make you upset."

He sat up quickly so he could speak to her and make sure she was alright.

"No, I'm sorry. You didn't hurt me, I was the one who kicked you."

He reached a hand out and slightly lifted up her shirt to see what damage he had caused. He noticed her toned and smooth stomach already started to form a nasty bruise. He looked back up to her.

"Are you alright?"

She nodded her head to him and gave him a smile.

"Yeah, it's okay. I can heal myself so it's no big issue. You definitely pack a punch, but I'll be fine."

He nodded and pulled his hand away, letting her shirt fall back over her stomach. She walked closer to him and reached out her hand, placing it on his shoulder.

"Are you okay?"

He nodded his head and spoke.

"Yeah I'm fine."

She could see he still felt shameful and pulled him into a quick hug. She pulled back, keeping a hand on his shoulder in a reassuring gesture, and let him know she was truly okay.

"Don't beat yourself up. I'm fine and I'm not mad at you. I don't want you to feel guilty when I was the one who should've made it more clear we're not doing this to hurt you."

He nodded his head at her and gave her a smile. Seeing that he felt better, she gave his shoulder a squeeze and dropped her arm.

He turned his head to Rose and she gently grabbed his hand and interlaced their fingers. Stroking the back of his hand, she spoke to him again in a soothing tone.

"We're not here to run tests on you. This is just a check up to make sure there's no issues going on internally. Seeing what's in your DNA will help see what your powers are capable of and how we can help you become better. I don't know what happened before, but I promise you we're not going to do that to you."

He gave her a smile and leaned over to kiss her forehead.

"Thank you."

She gave him a warm smile and gave a kiss to his cheek. Rachel turned to grab another syringe and walked back over to him and let him know that they really hoped they could move on from the incident.

"I hope we're good. As Slade said before, we're all a family here. I don't know how the Titans viewed each other, but family isn't supposed to harm each other. I promise you we're not going to do anything to you that they might have done. If any one on the team is being a jerk, let Rose or me know and we'll fix the issue."

He nodded at her and smiled.

"I don't think I'll have to worry about that. Everyone here seems to be pretty cool. I was right though, you seem to be the big sister of the team."

She smiled at him and shrugged.

"I am the oldest of the girls, so its fitting. Plus you're dating my best friend so I got to look out for the both of you."

She raised the syringe and looked at Gar.

"Are we good to go?"

Receiving a nod, she gently stuck the needle in his arm and began to extract his blood. Once it filled up with the amount that would suffice, she took it out and placed some gauze on it. Instructing Gar to hold it while she fetched a band-aid, she walked over to the table to insert the samples into a couple of tubes. Once that was finished, she disposed of the syringe and walked over to a cabinet. Pulling out two boxes, she asked him a question.

"Hello Kitty or Finding Nemo?"

He laughed and decided to joke around with her.

"That's a tough choice, but I think Grant and Slade would start to think less of me were I to walk around with a pink and Kitty filled band-aid."

She laughed at him and pulled a bandage out of the Finding Nemo box. She put the bandage on his arm and placed the boxes back in the cabinet.

"We'll go back up to see where the team is and take these samples to Slade. I don't know about you guys, but I'm hungry. Let's hope everyone else is ready to eat."

Giving her a nod, Gar began to get dressed. Once he finished, he reached his hand out to Rose who took it immediately. The couple joined Rachel and headed for the door. As they were leaving the medical room, Gar felt his stomach began to growl.

"I think I'm with ya on getting some food. Who's cooking tonight?"

Rose looked over to her boyfriend and gave him an answer.

"Shae volunteered to do so. She wanted to give you a warm welcome with her food, and since she's the best cook, we all agreed it would be a good idea."

Gar gave her a nod and smiled.

"How thoughtful. I hope you're right on her cooking skills because I could go for a good meal."

Smiling at the boy, the girls lead him back towards the main room. While Slade had been right about the chance that Gar might not be so comfortable around medical equipment, they all found a bond forming between them. Gar was beginning to feel more and more comfortable around his new team. Rose and him both could feel their feelings towards each other only growing stronger. She was perfect for him and he was perfect for her. He also found himself growing fonder of Rachel. While he never had an older sister, this girl seemed to be as close to one as he could get. She cared about him, even knowing him for a short period of time. Rachel found Gar to be a good person and a great friend. She could tell he cared deeply for her friend and that made her happy. She felt this urge to protect him and make sure he was okay. Walking with them to meet back up with the team, the only thing Gar could think of was where had these people been all his life.
