Gar woke up as the sound of a vibration filled his ears. Glancing over, he noticed his wrist communicator was buzzing quietly, as to not wake his girlfriend next to him. He carefully reached over to turn it off while glancing at the time on it.
5:00am.
He ran a hand over his face and rubbed his eyes to get the sleep out of them. Once he was fully awake, he took a glance down at Rose and smiled. She looked content and happy while she lay next to him with an arm draped over his chest. Smiling, he carefully lifted her arm off of him and planted a kiss on her forehead. Moving to get up, he felt a hand grab ahold of his wrist and a tired voice spoke to him.
"Don't even think about getting up yet."
He turned around to see her with her eyes still closed, but her face was as serious as can be. He took her hand and interlocked their fingers while leaning down to be next to her ear.
"You know I have to get up. I don't want to keep your father waiting and I doubt he would like the sight of me leaving your room."
She groaned in annoyance while finally opening her eyes and sitting up.
"I don't really care. He can wait and I'm sure he has an inkling that you stayed here last night."
He quirked his eyebrow at the last part of the sentence.
"What makes you say that?"
A tired smirk appeared on her face as she brushed a few strands of her hair out of her face.
"There's monitors on the doors to let the computers know when they were last opened. Considering that you last opened yours yesterday morning, I'm sure he can put two and two together."
He regarded the statement and figured that after hearing that last bit of information she was probably right. He watched her shrug her shoulders and a smile formed on her face.
"Plus he's Slade."
That made a smile break out across his face too and he leaned in to get nose to nose with her. His voice lowered and took on a deep and gruff tone.
"You think he knows what we did last night?"
He heard her breath hitch and could hear her heartbeat quicken. He placed a hand on her back and ran another up the back of her thigh. He could feel the goosebumps as he rubbed it up and down and could smell her pheromones radiating in the air.
"You better be careful. You keep playing like this then I definitely won't let you leave until you finish what you started."
He smiled as he leaned down to kiss her. He felt her wrapped her arms around his neck as he circled his around her tiny waist. As they finally felt the need for air, he let her go and took a step back.
"I really need to go see your dad. I don't want to keep him waiting."
A pout crossed her face as she sat back on the bed and regarded him.
"Fine. But you owe me."
He grinned and gave her a wink before walking out the door and down to his room. He quickly changed into his Titans uniform and brushed his teeth. Once he was done, he made his way out to the Main Room to find Slade.
Once he reached his destination, the doors opened and revealed Slade standing at the main computer going over files. Gar walked up to him and took a look at the files on the screen. They were pictures and reports of the terrorist group they were after. He walked next to him and spoke to get his attention.
"Find anything enlightening?"
A nod was the first form of acknowledgment before Slade spoke in a quiet voice.
"It looks like they've been planning this since the news of a peace deal started. There's been dozens of videos made to give warnings to the leaders of the countries involved."
Gar watched as video after video was played on the screen. Each promising the same thing; death and destruction. His eyes narrowed and his face became concerned. There were thousands of these men all across the Middle East. He knew it would be a tall task to bring them down and keep the area safe from these people.
"Rose told me Jaime and Shae found the warehouse that they have been hiding out at."
Slade gave another nod of the head and another image popped up. It looked to be footage of the warehouse that there were informed of by the terrorist they held captive.
"I sent a drone out to get an idea of what it looks like. It's exactly where our prisoner described it to be. Once everyone is up and ready, you will take them there and eliminate the threat."
Gar gave a nod in confirmation. He glanced curiously at Slade and spoke.
"What's happened with our prisoner?"
With his eyes still on the screen, Slade gave his answer.
"He's been extracted and located to a facility where they keep the most dangerous of criminals and terrorists. Rachel and Muhammad dropped him of while you and Grant were out."
Smile at the memory of Grant enjoying his time out yesterday broke out on Gar's face. He turned to the room considering whether or not to make breakfast when something caught his eye.
"What are those?"
Walking over to the main table, he caught a better sight of his interest. It looked to be uniforms of some sorts. They were a black mesh suit with armor along the chest, shoulders, and back areas, with a gold lining down the shoulders and sides. Picking one up, he examined it closely.
"They are your uniforms. Once I got the members I wanted together for the team, I was able to get them made."
Walking over to Gar, he took one in his hands as well and held it up.
"They are made of a mesh-spandex hybrid, which will allow easy movement, as well as good air flow. The armor plates are made of Teflon and will protect the vital areas from bullets and shrapnel. There are plates along the shins and thighs as well, but they are built in to the fabric."
Gar held his in his hands and studied it. They were definitely better than the one he had on currently and looked better too. He turned to Slade and gestured to it.
"Can I put it one?"
Receiving a nod, he walked over behind the kitchen counter and replaced his old uniform with his new one. It fit perfectly and felt nice. After a few stretches in it to make sure it was as good as Slade said, he turned back to him with a grin.
"Nice. These are way better than what the Doom Patrol gave me."
He heard the chuckle from Slade and watched as he placed the one in his hand back onto the table.
"I'm glad to hear that."
Slade then walked over to him and stood in front of him with his arms crossed over his chest and he could tell he was getting serious.
"While you and the team are out dealing with the terrorists, I will be here training Joseph and his friends. I need you to be sharp out there. I want everyone to come back alive and in one piece."
Gar gave him a nod and his face became stern.
"I will Slade, I promise."
Slade nodded his head. Reaching out, he placed a firm hand on his shoulder.
"And I need you to be careful. Don't try anything too extreme. You are taking care of my daughter now and I don't want to see her upset. If you get hurt because you tried to do something stupid, you better expect an ass chewing from me after my daughter gives you her own."
Another nod followed his words and Gar looked him in the eyes before speaking.
"I will. I don't need her pissed at me and I'm fully aware that if she is, you will be too."
Slade nodded his head and dropped his hand from its spot. Turning back to the computer, he shut it off before facing Gar again.
"I will be in the training room setting up for our second team. Once everyone eats, inform them of what is to come."
Gar gave a nod and watched as Slade exited the room. He then turned to the kitchen and started to make breakfast for everyone.
By now, everyone had arrived and had sat around the table to eat their breakfast. All of them were now in their new uniforms, which they seemed to have a good reaction too. Gar had taken the liberty of informing them of what Slade told him they would be doing once they were done with breakfast. The mood changed from joking and laughing to one of seriousness. Grant and Rachel had finished their breakfast and joined Gar in prepping for their mission.
The group of three were currently in the ops room and taking stock of what weapons to bring. Gar had informed Muhammad to tell everyone that once they had finished, they were to meet them in there before they headed out.
Gar and Grant were currently taking stock of the guns and ammo they'd be using while Rachel was making sure they'd have enough explosives and the coms would be able to be useful during they're ordeal.
"You have a plan on how to do this man?"
Gar turned to Grant and smirked.
"Of course I do. It'll be effective as long as you guys do as I ask."
Rachel turned to look at him and quirked an accusing eyebrow.
"You're not going to use yourself as bait are you? The last thing we need is you playing hero."
Gar turned to her and matched her expression.
"Of course not. Me and Slade already talked and he emphasized the point of me being careful."
Rachel's faced softened and she gave him a nod. She turned to continue her task while Gar kept his eyes on her. His thoughts began to circle around her as he noticed that she had become very defensive of his decisions and how he executed orders. She seemed to take a bigger issue with his self control and decisions regarding his safety, both physical and mental.
His eyes were on her still as Grant walked over to him. Grant noticed the expression on his face and turned to look at Rachel. He too had noticed that Rachel had started to become uneasy with some of his decisions. He wasn't quite sure why, but noticed that as well that they did talk quite a bit to each other.
"Why don't I go see if they're coming. You guys should be good right?"
Gar turned to him and nodded while Rachel murmured something that resembled an 'okay'. He turned towards Gar and gave him a pat on the shoulder and a brief smile before turning and walking out.
When he was gone, Gar shifted his eyes from where his friend had left to where Rachel was currently working on an earpiece. He took in her features and noticed she was a little on edge. Her face was calm but her body was tense. Something was bothering her.
"Rae."
She stopped what she was doing and turned to him. He could see her eyes had started to become a little harder. Not quite condescending, but almost as if she knew he was going to question her about something.
"What is it?"
She looked down for a second and took a breath. He could tell that she was debating on whether or not to tell him. He tried to be patient and wait her out. Arguing wouldn't be the best method right now, and he really didn't want to truth be told.
"I don't want you getting hurt."
Her expression softened as she looked up to him. His face softened too as he could tell she was more worried than anything. She looked down again and released another breath.
"I don't want to see Rose upset. She has never had it easy and she finally has something good going for her. I'd hate to see her worried because you get hurt."
He walked over to her and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"I won't. I already promised Slade I would be careful. I'm not really looking forward to the ass chewing I'd get from both of them if something goes sideways."
He gave her a small smile and relaxed when he saw her return it. Giving her a pat, his face shifted into a playful smirk.
"Besides, if I'm out you'd be in charge. I doubt you want to have to deal with that headache."
She chuckled and smacked him lightly and he allowed a laugh to escape his throat. Giving her one last smile he turned around and went back to make sure all the weapons were prepped. Shortly after he loaded the last magazine into the last gun, the door opened to reveal the rest of the team standing there.
"We're ready bro. What's the plan?"
Gar turned to Grant and waved them in. Pressing a button on the center table, an image of the warehouse popped up. The team gathered around and waited for Gar to tell them what they would be doing.
"Me and Muhammad will be doing recon inside. We'll check to see who is in there and how many there are. Once we confirm if we can take them on or not, I will give you guys the signal to continue on."
He highlighted two areas on the screen. One area was focused on the entrance and another was focused on the side where it looked like there would be another escape route if necessary.
"Rae, you'll take Shae and Jaime and cover the entrance. Once I give the signal, you'll enter through that door and open fire."
Looking at the three he mentioned, he waited for them to nod their approval. Once they did so he pointed to the second highlighted area.
"Grant, you'll take Rose and Cass and come through the side door. Wait until you hear gunfire to do so. We'll try to distract them so it'll be easier for you guys to take out the targets."
The other three nodded their heads in acknowledgement. Satisfied with their answer, Gar turned to Muhammad.
"Me and you will stay on the second level. You'll use a portal to enter the ware house and I'll be using a smaller animal so I can be undetected. We'll use flash bangs to distract them so once I give the signal, they'll be disoriented and it should be easy for the rest to take them out."
Muhammad nodded his head and smirked.
"Good plan. You have Slade help you out with this?"
Gar gave a mock gasp as if he were offended and playfully glared.
"How dare you. I'll have you know I came up with this all by myself thank you very much."
His antics brought a chuckle out of the group and he smirked at their reaction. Muhammad shook his head in amusement before grabbing a gun and pulling it over his shoulder.
"Well if that's the case, let's go foxhole buddy."
Gar grinned and grabbed his own gun and a couple of flash bangs. Turning to the group he instructed them to load up as well. While they did so, Gar and Muhammad took the time to place an earpiece in so they could hear communications without it being broadcasted once they were in. Once everyone had done the same, Muhammad used a portal and they all hoped in and reappeared outside of the warehouse. Gar smirked in anticipation as he had a strong feeling that this would end well and he wouldn't have to worry about any repercussions.
