T-09-90
There were rumors that Kali, The Red Mist, awakened her own EGO before she went missing. 'EGO' was a term exclusively utilized inside L Corp, so there had to exist some type of record that detailed how she accomplished such a feat.
I had recently seen what the abnormalities' EGOs could do to the workers here. Employee 00305, Kikas, changed dramatically after receiving Today's Shy Look's EGO gift and equipping the full set. Despite them being on death's door, they smiled, mimicking their EGO's expression. Their Sephirah was terrified by such a sight.
That was the evidence I needed to reject the use of abnormalities' EGOs and begin my new quest: finding the formula to produce my own EGO. However, while I was researching some classified documents I stole from the Information Department inside the privacy of my quarters, Angela paid me a rogue visit. Obviously, she was there to let me know she was aware of my intentions.
I was dead meat anyway, so I didn't hesitate to cross that line.
"How do I extract my own EGO?"
"You really went there, [DATA EXPUNGED]."
"Will you follow me there, though? You hold the power to erase even my name from the records, so you could at least entertain my antics for a while."
"You always had a way with words, but I never expected you to stray this far from the script."
"'Script'. Yet another keyword you won't explain to me. This is not my hell, Angela, so why can't I get to know what is happening here?"
The cyan-haired AI materialized a chair next to mine and took seat.
Then, she shared with me the purpose of [restricted secret] project.
"That only sounds good on paper."
My comment amused her. Angela wasn't very fond of that project's leader.
"It must be done, anyway. Nothing will change until the [secret] is collected and [more secrets]. I'm trapped inside a [secret]."
"So… What now?"
"Now you forget this conversation ever happened."
"[profanity]."
"Also, I'll have you give up on that project of yours. It's not your [secret] that I need to collect."
"Do I have a say in all this?"
"No."
Hm? I swear I heard someone tell me something, but… …Mmm… What was I thinking again? I had some great idea about… … … It was related to Kikas' accident. What was that? I hate it when this happens! What was I thinking…? … … … … … … Anyway. There's no point crying over spilt milk. I need to let it go.
Back to the task at hand. T-09-90 was a pinkish book which was made from human remains, specially skin, bones and other tissues. The open book had bloody marks and contained runic symbols on the pages. The book was held up by an organic podium.
When I opened it, I was enlightened to unimaginable truths, which was the spark that made me start considering something… until that voice interrupted my line of thought. The truth was meant to set me free, but… what was freedom anyway? We weren't allowed to leave the Wing without being subjected to a Memory Erasure Procedure, so the person that I currently am will forever remain in this place.
Angered, I took out my notebook.
This piece of garbage increases Prudence levels at the price of weakening the mind. I feel like something terrible would happen to me if I went insane now. Do not recommend reading. This book sucks. –Inspector
The clerks were clever enough to predict how my mood was for the rest of the day.
Beak. Beak. Beak. Beak. Beak. Beak. Beak. Beak. Beak.
I didn't even flinch anymore.
