"Fireworks for the one person in the whole Encanto who can't stand loud noises. What a great idea."

Bruno mumbled to himself, looking up in the night sky filled with almost every possible color. He could see Dolores holding her ears, her parents and Mariano standing right beside her. Bruno sighed. Being able to celebrate every birthday of his nieces and nephews was one thing he dreamed of for the last ten years. He never cared for parties, but witnessing all those gatherings without being forced to hide behind a wall was something he almost lost hope for that it ever would happen again. And for once, there was not even one angry townsperson trying to put up a fight with him. Having no powers for two weeks really made the people see the person inside him, not just his visions. Bruno didn't need to look into the future to know that this would change back to normal as soon as he had his first unintentional vision. Maybe it was better for him if he didn't get too used to the unfamiliar kindness. Maybe, Dolores wouldn't be too mad when she noticed that he took the firework as a chance to sneak away.

"Hey Bruno, where are you going?" He stopped, not even out of the front door. There were times he was able to sneak away for HOURS, and nobody noticed his absence, but that was before Mirabel was old enough to follow him. His niece had always been good at observations.

"I have to get out of here; there are way too many people in there." It wasn't even a lie. He never felt comfortable in large crowds, especially when they are not family. It was a lesson Bruno learned well since he got his gift at age five: Don't get too comfortable when you are with people; every word you say at night will be held against you in the morning. Of course, it didn't always work, but at least it kept him from significant injuries.

"It is the first birthday party with you for ten years. Are you sure you want to leave now?" Bruno ignored the emerging guilty conscience. A few hours ago, he thought that he would never skip a family party again, especially not the birthday of his niece, who kept his secret for so long. But all the gossip during lunch changed everything.

"You are trying to find Elena, aren't you." Mirabel raised an eyebrow. She had only known him for four weeks, but there was no doubt that his youngest niece had no problem seeing what was in his mind.

Bruno sighed, knowing that he couldn't lie to her. But he couldn't tell her the whole truth either. "Listen, Mirabel: It is my fault that she ran away. I don't know if she could find her daughter, but helping her is the least I could do after all I have done."

The teenager tried to protest, but a sharp pain stopped her. Bruno looked at her in concern. "Abuela told me about your headaches. I promise I will talk with you about it as soon as I return. "

"Fine." Mirabel sighed; she didn't have the strength to argue with him. "Just make sure you'll be back before breakfast; I don't want to risk Abuela ripping both of our heads off our shoulders."

Bruno nodded thankfully, and without another word, he ran off. It didn't take him long to leave the party behind, but before he went any further, he could hear two people chatting. Bruno pulled the hood of his ruana over his head. It wasn't uncommon for people to seek the edge of the jungle for some privacy while a party was going on, and the last thing Bruno wanted was to disturb by whatever they were doing. However, he couldn't help that one voice sounded oddly familiar, too familiar for his liking. Before he knew it, his feet led him closer to the couple that was giggling and leaning at each other. The Madrigal tried to fight against that inner force, but when he finally managed to turn around, the couple already noticed him.

"Bruno! It isn't how it looks like, I swear!" Camilo let go of the girl he had just kissed; she took the opportunity to disappear into the night before Bruno had the chance to see her face.

"So, you didn't use the fact that your sister can't hear during fireworks to secretly make out with your girlfriend so that your mother doesn't find out?" Bruno raised his eyebrow. He might spend the last ten year between walls, but he wasn't blind.

Camilo shrugged. "Fine. It is precisely what it looks like."

Bruno took a deep breath, trying to not sound angry. No, he wasn't mad at his nephew, but he just slipped into another situation he tried to avoid at all costs. But there was no way Bruno could ignore what he just saw either. "How long are you dating?"

"First date." So, he probably just ruined his nephew's first kiss. What a great start to being an uncle.

"You are telling mamá, aren't you?" The teenager let his shoulders hang, looking defeated. His tío couldn't help but pity the boy who had definitely imagined something different this evening.

"And risking another winter wonderland? Trust me: Wearing only sandals while trudging through 40cm of fresh snow is even less fun than it sounds like."

Camilo relaxed by a bit; his curiosity took over instead. "So, the "winter wonderland" isn't just a running gag going around in town?"

Bruno laughed. "I wish it was! I was your age when I made the big mistake and got too far on your mother's nerves. It taught me the important lesson to ALWAYS apologize to Pepa; Julieta had a hard time saving my frozen toe!"

Camilo joined in his uncle's laughing. The adults always warned him about the "winter wonderland", but nobody dared tell him the whole story.

His tío sighed. "But you should tell her, Camilo. I mean, you are 15!"

"Hey, I am almost 16!" The shapeshifter protested. "Don't tell me you didn't have a girlfriend when you were my age."

Bruno shook his head. "Being the one with the creepy visions isn't really helping when you try to talk to girls." He admitted. "Besides, I mean you are ALREADY 15; having a girlfriend isn't the worst thing you can do."

"Don't you know what mamá would do if she EVER finds out I have a girlfriend? I always assume you are the one that can see the future."

His uncle frowned. "I don't need a vision to know that she will be upset at first, but she will downright kill you AND me if she finds it out by accident." He paused. "Also, it would be much safer for you to NOT be alone in the dark when no adults are around."

Camilo's face turned bean red; he was fully aware of what his uncle tried to say to him.

"Fine, just give me a week to find the right moment. And to talk to Sofia." So, Camilo's girlfriend was Sofia Martinez. She was one of the girls making food for all the people who helped rebuild Casita, and it was kind of obvious that she was also one of the many girls having a crush on Camilo. She was a nice girl, but also very shy.

"I give you three days."

Bruno closed his eyes, trying to NOT say the one thing an inner voice told him to do. Mirabel would be upset that it would be her uncle to share one of their biggest secrets after all those years. Abuela and Pepa would rip his head off when they found out, and Félix and Julieta would gladly hide the evidence. Yes, Bruno felt sorry for ruining his sobrino's date, but that wasn't reason enough to give a fifteen-year-old the possibility to do the most irresponsible things in his life. But that was the funny thing with his mind: Bruno had little to no chance to disobey whenever his head told him to do or say something.

"I can tell you how you can talk with her without Dolores being able to hear you, but you have to promise me that you use it wisely. Just don't... Don't misuse it, ok?"

Bruno took a deep breath, now totally sure that everything would backfire to him in one way or another. "You haven't seen me, and I haven't seen you, deal?"
