"Ask him. He will know."

It took Mirabel only seconds to jump off her bed, making her concerned father drop the book he was reading on the chair beside her.

"Where is Tio Bruno?" She questioned while her hands fidget for her glasses, not caring that she startled Augustín enough to give him a heart attack. "I have to talk to him. Now!"

The voice still echoed in her head, she knew it talked the whole time to her while she passed out, but she could only remember the last part. Ask him.

"Mirabel, you shouldn't overdo yourself!" Augustin frowned, not knowing where his daughter got all the energy out of the sudden. "You were unconscious for almost two hours; not even your mother could wake you up! We don't know what happened to you..."

Mirabel shook her head, knowing how much she must have scared her family. Still, she knew that she had to hurry or otherwise... The teenager didn't know what would happen otherwise, but she wasn't too eager to find out.

"Papá, I don't know how I can explain it to you, but I have to find Bruno. You have to trust me."

Augustín closed his eyes, not wanting to look into his daughter's big puppy-like eyes that always made him weak to his knees. Mirabel could ask him to pour honey over his head and wander through the jungle if she gave him that look, but not this time: This time, it wasn't about his health but hers, and he would never give in.

"Papi, I know how much I scared you, but everything will be fine. I promise..."

He still didn't dare to look at her, but suddenly he felt the soft touch of Mirabel's hand on his. For a brief second, Augustín felt why talking to Bruno was so important to her. Somehow, he understood why it was urgent, even though he didn't know the reason behind it. Before he could reason against it, Augustín opened his mouth. "Abuela said he is in his vision cave."

His daughter thanked him with a small kiss on his cheek before she stormed to Bruno's tower, not even looking at her confused father she left behind.

Before Mirabel could even touch the doorknob, she stopped. She didn't know where the thought came from, but she suddenly knew for an uncanny certainty that Bruno wasn't in his tower anymore. Her mind never felt so clear when she finally realized where her uncle was going. Without saying a word to the family, she ran out of the house and through the streets of the town, pushing everyone aside who was in her way. She didn't stop until she could spot Bruno going up the small path leading to the secret place where she saw Elena only a day ago.

With every step he took, Bruno cursed himself. He was sure that his cowardness led to the dilemma he was now in, or it was the lack of an idea to solve the problem earlier. Still, he knew he had to do this.

The weight of the plate of glass in his shoulder back bothered him; Bruno would have been much faster if he didn't have to be careful not to break it. However, he couldn't let in the tower. Elena needed to see what would happen; it was the only chance to protect her and her daughter.

The Madrigal felt a sharp pain when a branch slapped him through his face when he didn't concentrate enough on his steps. Normally, Bruno could run up this path with a blindfold on his eyes without hurting himself, but this time was different: He was tired after running the same track and the stairs of his tower for the second time in only hours, and he was concerned for all the things he somehow had to solve.

The seer muttered another curse when he remembered the second problem he had: He had to talk to Mirabel and explain what her headaches meant.

Both issues were two sides of the same coin, but if he had waited for his niece to wake up, he would have been too late. After their talk last night, Elena had a slight idea that her world would turn upside down yet again, but she didn't know how easily it could take a turn to the worst. One wrong step, one bad timed word, and everything they worked on would turn into a disaster.

Just before he reached another junction, he heard a person following him. Bruno took the hood of his ruana over his head, making him blend in with his environment. In horror, he realized that he might already be too late when he heard the person screaming after him.

"Tío Bruno, wait!" Bruno sighed in relief when he heard Mirabel's voice. He took his hood off and returned to the path he was following.

"I know I shouldn't follow you, but I…."

The seer gestured for her to stop talking. For a brief second, he overthought the option that was right in front of him. It was risky, but maybe it would kill two birds with one stone.

"I know why you are here, and it is all right. " He whispered, making sure that only Mirabel could understand him even when Dolores decided to ears drop. Of course, it was unlikely for his niece to listen to them of all people living in the Encanto, but it wasn't the right moment for risking it. "Follow me, but don't say a word."

His youngest sobrina nodded, trusting him. Together, they hiked the past in silence, avoiding every sound at all costs. Mirabel couldn't help but wonder how her Tío was able to prevent every branch and twig and still be a lot quicker than her. She wasn't even half his age, and far from unathletic but still, she stood no chance against his agility and fastness. At one point, she noticed that they weren't following the path to the river anymore. Instead, they turned left to a narrow trail further into the jungle. How was Bruno able to find this way last night?

It was not until they reached a forest clearing that Bruno turned around.

"Wait here, ok?" He said it in his normal voice, fully aware they were out of Dolores's hearing rage. That moment Mirabel realized that her uncle was heading to a small cottage, maybe 20m from where she stood. A woman left the hut, instantly hugging Bruno when she saw him. Mirabel could see her uncle whispering to Elena, who couldn't stop glancing over at her. Suddenly, a more petite figure appeared next to the woman, a little girl who couldn't be much older than Antonio. She also started hugging Bruno, but instantly hid behind her mother when she saw Mirabel. He took the girl's hand, gently leading her to his niece. The younger Madrigal could see how scared the little girl was, so she went down on her knees to not scare her even more.

"It's ok, Lina." She could hear her uncle whisper to the girl. "She is your cousin Mirabel, the girl I told you about." Mirabel couldn't help but smile when the girl lost her hesitation and came running towards her with a huge grin on her face.

Then, she realized what her uncle had just said.
