Chapter 2: Uninvited party crasher

/

"Calm down I am pretty sure your brother will not kill you even if he became a wolf," Lizzie says covering Landon's mouth from screaming bloody murder only to start siphoning magic from Landon

"Lizzie?!" Hope exclaims shocked at seeing Lizzie appearing out of practical nowhere

"Elizabeth?!" Alaric also shout at the hearing and saw Lizzie

Both Alaric and Hope turn away from focusing on Rafael in wolf form to see Lizzie holding onto Landon. Hope was about to tell Lizzie to not harm Landon when Lizzie's hand started to glow the sure sign that Lizzie was siphoning magic from another person. The glowing confused both Hope and Alaric since they were sure that Landon was human before Lizzie started to siphon Landon.

"Don't look at me, what the hell are you?" Lizzie exclaims letting Landon go and looking at him with confusion

"What the hell am I? What the hell are you? You came out of nowhere and you made me feel drowsy when your hand started to glow? Hope what is going on, how is my brother a giant wolf, and what is going on? Hope?" Landon says confusion and shock in his voice as he stepped away from Lizzie and looks at Lizzie and then at Hope

Hope and Alaric just look between each other unsure what to say or who should say it. Lizzie sees this and takes a deep breath before deciding to spill the beans to this Landon guy.

"Congratulations muppet you are drum roll please supernatural like your brother who is a werewolf or as we like to call a wolf. I'm a witch and how your brother is a wolf comes down to genetics and magic. At the Salvator School for the Young and Gifted, we help newbie wolves and other supernatural species control their powers so that they don't accidentally kill regular old humans like you thought you were only a few minutes ago. Also, we are kidnapping you and your brother until he is back to his human form. So you can either join the club or find a way to accidentally expose the supernatural world and probably be dragged off by super shady government people who will no doubt torture you until you die. Okay, my work is done, see you all back in the car." Lizzie bluntly explains before leaving the church with a big smirk on her face

Hope, Alaric, and Landon just watch as Lizzie exits the church building all with varying degrees of shock on their face at what she revealed.

"Hope is what she said true?" Landon asks a scared and confused expression on his face

"Landon some of it is others no. The shady government is probably not true," Hope says trying to put Landon at ease

"Well actually. Yeah never mind," Alaric starts to say but is stopped by Hope giving him a glare

/

"Ah look here comes the uninvited party crasher," Hope says annoyance in her voice

"Oh, thank you Lizzie for being there so that we could figure out the Hobbit was supernatural. You're welcome, Hope. Now I want to talk to my sister Mikaelson, please leave," Lizzie comments back with a biting tone in her voice

"We would have figured out Landon was supernatural sooner or later without your help. Also, Josie and I were talking first. You can wait. Saltzman," Hope argues back as she glared at the blonde siphon

"Yeah, figure it out when you couldn't compel him or he did something stupid. Another thing is Josie is my sister. I have a stronger case than you to talk to her," Lizzie says anger in her voice as she steps closer to glare at the short girl

"She is my best friend and I am pretty sure I have been more of a sister to her than you have," Hope argues back also getting closer to Lizzie to glare at her

"Guys," Josie weakly tries to interfere and break up the building argument

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?! I love Josie, she is my sister," Lizzie says angered by Hope's comment

"When's the last time you asked her what she wanted?" Hope says in an accusatory tone

"Guys stop!" Josie shouts getting both Hope and Lizzie's attention

"What?!" Both Hope and Lizzie exclaim breaking their glaring contest to look at Josie

"Lizzie, Hope was here first plus I am sure whatever you have going on can wait. Hope please stop antagonizing my sister. God, sometimes I feel like I am babysitting 7-year-olds when you two are in the same room as each other," Josie says trying to defuse the situation

"Come on Jo you can't be siding with her over me?" Lizzie whines a bit offended by her sister's words

"I wouldn't antagonize your sister if she didn't provoke me. Also 7 Josie? I'm just finishing what your brat of a sister started," Hope defends her argument

Josie gives both Lizzie and Hope a look of disappointment that says she is done with this crazy nonsense. Lizzie reads the look and finally backs down. Moving to leave the way she came into her shared room with Josie. Hope just shrugs off the look and seems smug about Josie siding with her on things.

"Fine I'll leave, but you owe me, Josette," Lizzie says before exiting the twin's room with a huff

"See you later Lizzie," Hope says with a smirk as she watches Lizzie give her the middle finger before leaving the room

"Hope," Josie says in an exasperated tone

"What? She is a terrible sister and she glares at me all the time. Sue me for not backing down from a challenge," Hope defends her teasing of Lizzie

Josie frowns a bit at Hope's easy nature to put down her sister. Josie does enjoy that Hope and others seem to see that Lizzie is not the best for her, but she also feels partly responsible for Lizzie's well-being.

"I'll talk to her in the meantime please refrain from antagonizing her. Lizzie is trying." Josie offers to try to make some type of amends

"Trying to be the queen bitch of the school? Because she has been that for the last 3 years. Look I get that she is your sister and for the sake of our friendship I will try to refrain from poking at her, but this is the second time she has snuck into a car with me without my consent," Hope starts with annoyance in her voice

/

"This is going to sound strange, but do you mind if we go find your sister Lizzie?" Hope asks just as she finished bagging some of the trash she was picking up

"That is a strange request but sure let's go she should be with MG and Kaleb. Also, any reason you want to find my sister all of a sudden?" Josie asks as she finishes tying up a trash bag

"I just have this gut feeling that something bad is going to happen involving her somehow," Hope says an uneasy expression on her face

Josie looked at Hope with a confused perplexed look on her face unsure if she heard Hope's words correctly. Josie recalls similar words that Lizzie used 3 years ago to track Roman and Hope in New Orleans. Josie is not sure if what Hope said was a mere coincidence or if there was more to Hope and Lizzie's connection. Hope sees this look and gets confused about why Josie would have such a perplexed look on her face.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Hope asks confused

"Like what? We should find Lizzie," Josie says before walking ahead of Hope only to be stopped when her cell phone starts to ring

/

Ring. Ring. Josie's cell phone goes off the picture is of Lizzie shows that she is calling

"Well pick it up," Hope says looking at Josie with an expected gaze

"Lizzie?" Josie answers the cellphone putting it on speakerphone

"Jo I need you to get your trash-loving cute ass back to the school because there is a butt ugly statue thing chasing me and I am pretty sure it's pissed that I put up a barrier containment spell around the school grounds," Lizzie says as she is walking quickly through the hallways of the school

"Grr" The gargoyle growls and screeches as he lumbers closer to Lizzie's position

"Ugh, not now you hideous oversized garden gnome," Lizzie grumbles before a screeching noise overtakes what the cell phone picks up

"Lizzie? Lizzie?!" Josie says nervousness in her voice

Click the call drops ending the call

Both Hope and Josie look at each other fearful of what Lizzie's call could mean. Once they get to the school Josie is quick to siphon away the containment spell so they can get into the school. As they enter the school they find Alaric and fill him in on Lizzie's last call.

/

"Okay so if we find Lizzie we should be able to find the Gargoyle" Alaric sums up

"I just hope Lizzie isn't dead when we find her," Josie says uncertainty and fear in her voice

"Oh, you are a sight for sore eyes. I love you to Jo," Lizzie says between panting breathes having round the corner looking very much worse for wear

"Elizabeth what happened?" Alaric says shock written over his face

"I guess I pissed them off. Shit not feeling too good here," Lizzie says before collapsing on the ground

"Lizzie!" Hope exclaims rushing to get to Lizzie's collapsed body with Josie hot on her heels and Alaric not too far behind

"Grr" the gargoyle growls as it rounds the corner

"I will handle Lizzie you take care of the Gargoyle," Alaric orders as he puts pressure on the open wound on Lizzie's stomach

"Ah," Lizzie groans in pain at feeling Alaric put pressure on her wound

"Dad she could bleed to death if we don't get her vampire blood or stitched up," Josie comments with nervousness and concern in her voice

"Josie a little help here?" Hope calls out for an extra hand to beat the Gargoyle

Once the Gargoyle is defeated Lizzie's wounds start slowly closing and healing on their own. Alric removes his hand from Lizzie's stomach as soon as he realizes blood has stopped coming out.

"Elizabeth? Lizzie baby you okay?" Alaric asks gently as he caresses Lizzie's face

"Hm, please don't make me do community service ever again," Lizzie responds a little groggy

"No promises. Glad you are okay. You gave us all a scare" Alric says a small smile on his face as he looks down on Lizzie and then back to Hope and Josie

/

Knock. Knock. Hope knocks on Lizzie's and Josie's door later after the gargoyle attack and Alaric's speech to the student body about trying to keep the students safe by not keeping them in the dark.

"Come in" Josie answers the door just about ready for bed

"Hey I thought I come by and ask how things are going for Lizzie," Hope says her reasoning for coming by

"Now who's the uninvited party crasher? Plus why do you care?" Lizzie coldly responds with venom and anger

"Are we 10 now? What is with you throwing my words right back at me? I guess you're fine being your bitchy self. Josie, how are you related to her?" Hope argues back glaring at Lizzie before looking at Josie

"I um" Josie is about to respond when Lizzie cuts her off

"Don't answer her Josie. She is just trying to play a sympathetic hero card that is why she is here. She doesn't care if I died because then she would rule the school and then the world if I were gone," Lizzie fires back cutting off any response Josie was about to say

"Do you really think that little of me? Sorry Josie, but your sister is a cold bitch it's no wonder Penelope ended things with your sister being the party crasher that she is. I would say goodnight but I think it would come off a bit shallow. I do wish you Josie Saltzman an amazing and a spectacular night as for your sister she can freeze!" Hope says with venom and anger as she storms off slamming the twin's door shut as she leaves

Josie is caught between liking the fact that Hope told her to have a great night and the fact that her sister and Hope were at each other's metaphorical throats again. Since Hope was no longer in the room and Josie doubted that she would be able to catch up to Hope she decided to talk to her sister.

"What the hell is wrong with you Lizzie? Hope just came to see if you were okay after nearly dying today and the first thing you do is accuse her of not caring? If she and I had not come you would have died. You were too far from any vampire blood and bleeding profusely!" Josie rants glaring at Lizzie daring her to defend herself

"What's wrong with me? For the last 3 years, she has made me feel like I am worthless. The rumors and jokes about my diagnosed medical condition of being bipolar out to the whole school population and town essentially since Dana is a bitch too. It's kinda like if I outed you and you weren't ready to come out of the closet. That type of dick move is not cool under any circumstances," Lizzie's rebuttals hurt clear in her voice

"Lizzie, you're being dramatic. Being outed and some rumors about your mental health are not the same. Plus I thought you said those rumors were dying off," Josie responds in an almost patronizing tone

"You know what, I'm tired, it's been a long day. I mean I almost died today and I don't want to go to sleep angry at my sister. So I am going to say this because I believe it to be true. You are my sister, my best friend and I love you. Good night Josie, tomorrow is another day," Lizzie says before turning off the lights in the room putting a stop to anything Josie might have said

Lizzie goes to sleep, her body facing away from Josie. Guilt creeps into Josie's mind as she thinks that maybe the lies she fed to Lizzie weren't a good thing. Josie thinks about Hope and how her crush on the auburn-haired tribrid started this whole mess. Josie also reminisces on the fact that while she initially lied as a way to keep Lizzie away from Hope she continued the lie because she found being Hope's friend a good thing in her life. The two things that Josie never had to share with her sister were Hope and Penelope.

Author's Note: Got a little more insight into Josie's thoughts in this chapter. Also saw Hope and Lizzie's confrontational relationship. To be clear, I like Josie. I think she is a good character on the show, but I also feel at times the show didn't help to flesh her out. The show gave us a whole episode on Lizzie and why she acts the way she does towards Hope and everyone around her in 1x10 There's a World Where Your Dreams Came True. I don't think I am alone and think that episode helped to win views over with Lizzie as a character. Next up we are going to jump straight to 1x12 There's a Mummy on Main Street the ending more specifically centering on the reveal and dynamic between Josie, Hope, and Lizzie.
