I left to go home before Bella woke up, having received the text from Carlisle that he, my father, was almost here.
When I got back to the house, it was empty. The others had left to give me privacy.
Less than a half hour later, I heard someone running to the house and walked out to meet him.
We used to look nothing alike, and we still didn't–except for the same hard, pale skin. I had my mother's bronze hair rather than his dirty blonde, and I used to have her green eyes, while his were dark brown. Even now, while my eyes were a light honey color, his were bright red.
He opened his arms, smiling. "Junior, it's amazing to see you again!"
"Don't call me that," I responded harshly, avoiding his hug. "You left. You aren't my father anymore."
"Please, Edward, let me explain," He begged. I could hear the sincerity in both his spoken words and his thoughts.
"Fine."
"When I first woke up I wanted to stay with you, but I saw that it would be better for you if you ended up with Bella,"
"What are you talking about?" I asked.
"I saw Bella in multiple futures for you. None of those with me," He replied. "If I had stayed until you woke up, I would have left anyway, you would have chosen to come with me, we would have hunted humans, as you already saw by my eyes, and when you did eventually come across Bella's path, you would have killed her instantly."
"No," I responded. "I would have stayed with Carlisle."
"He only became a father for you after I was gone, you would have debated it, yes, but you would have eventually chosen to follow me.
"You're happier with Bella, you would have become depressed without her in your existance and found a way to kill yourself years ago."
