"Donna!" Harvey calls out as he sprints throughout the condo. He hadn't stuck around the office when he saw his girlfriend run from the office near tears. Harvey saw Faye standing in the doorway of Donna's office with a smirk on her face so he knew whatever had happened to Donna, Faye was the root cause of it, and he would've made Faye pay for making his Mighty Donna run out of the firm in tears if Samantha, Katrina and Alex hadn't have interrupted and ordered the older man to follow his girlfriend and make sure she was okay while the three of them spoke to Faye. Harvey ran out of his girlfriend's office and to the elevators, jumping into one just before it closed: he didn't have time to wait for another one, he needed to see his redhead.
He got out of the metal box and ran to the front door, stepped out into the evening air and caught a glimpse of his redheaded girlfriend getting into a taxi. Luckily Ray was behind Donna's taxi. "Ray follow Donna!" Harvey ordered his driver as he jumped into the car, closing the door, buckling himself in and melted against the leather seat, thinking of ways he could cheer up his obviously distraught girlfriend.
"Donna?!" Harvey shouts once more when he gets no answer from his girlfriend. Harvey looks around the living room/kitchen area and sees Donna's heels are near the closed balcony door, a sign that she'd thrown them off in anger the second she closed the condo door. her purse and Ralph Laurent trench fur coat are on the couch, Harvey sigh as he sees that his liquor cabinet is open and he's missing a bottle of scotch and one of the personalized glasses his girlfriend got him for his birthday last year. Harvey sighs again before hearing the sound of Donna's sobs coming from the bedroom. Harvey jogs to the bedroom where the door is locked.
"Damn it!" Harvey mutters. Whatever Faye has done to his redhead beauty must be bad if she's locked herself in the bedroom. Harvey brings his fist up to the door and taps on lightly.
"Donna, can I come in?" He asks gently.
"No!" Donna shouts, her usual calm voice loud and angry. Harvey grounds his perfectly perfect teeth together in anger. He's really going to kill Faye the next time he sees her.
"Donna, let me in!" Harvey says firmly in his lawyer voice, a voice not even Donna will refuse.
"I said no, Harvey, what part of 'no' don't you understand?!" Donna's voice is laced with venom on the other side of the door. Harvey puts his hand on the door, unaware that Donna is doing the same thing, her eyes closed on the other side of the door.
"Donna," Harvey says, his voice soft like a kitten's fur. There are only a few people he uses this voice with: Donna, Mike, Rachel, Jessica, his mom, his brother and his niece and nephew. "let me in so I can help you, please." Harvey is begging by this point, he doesn't know what else to do to get Donna to open the door to him. Suddenly he hears the door click and sees a sight he won't forget anytime soon: Donna's wearing one of his shirts that go to her thighs, her red hair is disheveled, her supposedly mascara is running down her face, in her hand she has a glass of scotch and by the smell of her breath, it's not her first one nor is it her last one.
But despite her appearance, Harvey never seen a more beautiful sight.
Harvey steps into the room, gently takes the glass out of her hand, puts it on the dresser and hugs his girlfriend, kissing her head.
"What happened with Faye, Donna?" Harvey asks softly after about five minutes of them hugging in silence. Donna barks out a hollow laugh and pulls away from Harvey, the laugh from Donna making the hair on the back of his neck stand up.
"She said that the only reason I'm COO is because I slept my way to the top, that'll all I'll ever really be is a secretary. That I'm just using you for my position and that I don't deserve you or your love and she's true!" Donna shouts, pacing around the bedroom, muttering to herself. Harvey catches his girlfriend by the shoulders and holds her in place, brown eyes locking on brown eyes.
"Listen to me right now, what Faye told you was a load of bullshit and you know it, you're the COO because you know how to run this firm more than anyone we've ever had, hell even Jessica didn't know how to run the firm as good as you. You didn't sleep your way to the top, you earned your way to the top, you're not a secretary, you're not using me for your position and you do deserve me and my love." Harvey tells Donna as he tilts her chin upward and kisses her lips softly.
"I love you and don't doubt that I do for one second, Donna Paulsen." Harvey says they pull away from each other. Donna sighs and hugs the lawyer, laying her head on his shoulder.
"Why don't you get into bed while I get dessert ready and tell everyone that you're fine? You've got a lot of people who care about you, Miss Paulsen." Harvey says as he sweeps up the remnants of dinner up off the coffee table and takes it to the kitchen where he gets the ice cream, strawberries and whipped cream. He smiles when the memories of The Other Time assault his mind but pushes them out when his phone buzzes alerting him to the group chat messages that everyone has left Donna.
Alex: Don't worry, Donna, Faye is dealt with, feel good again soon. Xxx
Samantha: Hang in there, Donna. Xxx
Katrina: Don't wait too long before returning to the office to keep these guys in line (Harvey, Alex and Louis) :) Xxx.
Gretchen: Chin up, Red. xxx
Louis: It won't be long before that viper is outta here, Donna. Xxx.
Harvey smiles at their family's messages.
Harvey: Donna's fine, a little upset by what that bitch has done but she's in bed waiting for her dessert. Thanks for the messages guys. We love you all. Xx
Harvey slips his phone into his pocket after his text to the group and takes their bowls of ice cream to the bedroom where Donna is sitting up against the headboard staring at the blank TV screen with a faraway look on her face. Harvey sits on the bed, holding a bowl out to her. Donna shakes out of the trance she's in and smiles when she sees the desert. "You know the way to my heart." Donna says as she puts a spoonful into her mouth, Harvey's smile widens as he hears her moans of satisfaction, turning on the TV to the show they're binge watching of a nighttime.
Donna lays her head on Harvey's chest, her hand on his chest underneath his top, listening to his heartbeat as it thumps underneath her hand.
"What do you need from me?" Harvey asks in a whisper. Donna smiles faintly into the dark.
"I just need you, that's all I need." Donna says as Harvey kisses her hair.
"You've got me, always." Harvey says before they both fall asleep, allowing themselves to forget about Faye until tomorrow but tonight they'll lay in each other's arms dreaming about how no matter how hard something is for the other, they'll always have each other.
