"Big bro! You're bleeding so much!"
" Tch. Shut up, brat."
But he was bleeding. So much that he began to feel dizzy.
"How far is this nurse?" Isabel asked Farlan as they raced through the streets, each supporting their injured friend's weight.
"Not too far now... here!" The brown haired boy gave a sigh of relief as they reached a block of flats. Quickly, Farlan and Isabel half dragged, half carried Levi to the second floor.
Without bothering to knock, Farlan threw the door open.
" Lucia! Lucia! Where are you?! " Farlan yelled frantically, glancing around the tiny, sparsely furnished room.
"... Farlan?"
Three heads swiveled to stare at the girl emerging from another room, her expression confused.
Light brown hair. Big brown eyes.
" What the... put him down here!" The girl instructed, gesturing to a couch as she rushed over, her confusion changing to worry.
Warm hands touched his forehead, and Levi stared at the blurry face hovering above his.
Pretty.
Then he blacked out.
He woke up with a start. Where the hell was he?
Levi opened his eyes by a crack. This wasn't his bed. His bed didn't smell like cinnamon.
This wasn't his room either.
There was a flash of movement in the corner of the room.
A girl was standing at a sink, rinsing her hands. Quietly, Levi reached for his pillow. He sat up, his feet landing on the floor without a sound, ignoring the sharp pain in his abdomen.
"Nice to see you up and about, though I'm not sure how I feel about you trying to strangle me with my favourite pillow. "
Levi nearly had a heart attack.
The girl turned around.
He nearly had a heart attack again.
Long brown hair framed a pretty, delicate face, the light colour complimenting her brown eyes. She was small, Isabel's height. Yet her face and body was matured, hinting she was older than the hyper active girl.
Levi realized he was staring. Immediately he scowled.
The girl mirrored his expression and scowled back teasingly, not at all intimidated.Tch. Cheeky brat.
" Who are you?" He asked bluntly.
" I am Lucia." She replied simply
" How did you see me approaching?" He asked.
She pointed at the mirror above the sink.
Levi scowled even harder. She did the same teasingly.
A minute went by. Two minutes. Another, then another.
Just as Levi was about to speak, the world swarmed and he staggered.
" Oh! I'm so sorry!" Lucia exclaimed, her eyes growing wide.
" Come seat!" She instructed him, taking his hands in her small, warm ones.
Levi didn't even try to resist . He was so exhausted all of a sudden...
" How did I get here, brat?" He asked as she led him back to bed.
" Farlan brought you, along with that jumpy kid." She replied, ignoring the insult.
Farlan and Isabel... Farlan and Isabel!
Everything came rushing back.
The fight. The son of a bitch pulling out a knife and gutting him in the stomach. The rush to the nurse. Her.
" Where are they?" He asked roughly. She stared at him.
"... Not here..." She replied blankly. Too blankly.
Levi's left eye twitched. Then he made to stand up, irked at the girl and her subtle teasing.
" Don't stand up! You've been out for three days, and you might pull at the stitches!" She cried pushing him back to the bed.
Stitches?
Levi glanced down, realizing for the first time that he wasn't wearing a shirt. Bandages were wrapped tightly around his torso.
He stared at his midriff for a moment, then tried to get up again. But the stubborn brat pushed him back and he was too weak to fight back.
He glared. She glared back. Then she surprised him by reaching forward and brushing his darkhair out of his eyes.
" I am glad you're better, Levi." She told him with a soft smile.
He could only stare, his heart clenching and unclenching.
Finally he spoke.
" Tch. I hope your hands are clean." The gentle expression left her face and she yanked her hand back.
" You ungrateful piece of-"
" Big bro? Big bro! You're awake!" Isabel's unmistakable voice interrupted Lucia mid curse.
The girl ran into the room and flung herself at Levi, who winced as she accidentally bumped into his wounds.
" Of course I'm awake." Levi replied, his expression softening.
" I hope you didn't give Lucia too much trouble, Levi." Another voice called from the doorway.
Levi turned to glare at his friend.
" Shut up, Farlan." Was all the brunette said. Farlan smiled and walked over to the bed.
" But knowing Lucia, I bet she gave you a run for your money. She is my sister, after all."
Farlan's last statement made Levi's head snap up.
...Sister...?
