Author's Note from Mat49324: It's time for another one-shot (Yippee!) by me. Once again, I'm having The Blue Time Ranger assist me with this one. If you get any calls to a part of S6's Astro-Not, welcome to the club. It's also based off the sub-plot of Demons in the Desert if you want to think that. So, for now, here's The Blue Time Ranger if he's got something he'd like to say.
Author's Note from The Blue Time Ranger: It's finally spring! (Even if it doesn't feel like it over here just yet. It was spring-y for my birthday, but now RAIN AND RAIN GO AWAY PLEASE) So, how about we celebrate by acting like it's summer? ROLL IT!
Title: Beat the Heat

1:00 P.M. – The Spies' Beach House
The spies were relaxing at the beach house, but it was a very warm day today. Sam and Alex had crop tops on – blue for Sam, white for Alex – and Sam had black capri pants on while Alex had a green skirt on. As for Clover, she was also showing some midriff with a pink tanktop with a #1 on the front and pink jean shorts.
"Did anybody see today's high this morning?" Alex wondered.
"Not me," Clover answered.
Sam thought back to this morning's news.
"Crap, why'd I go with capri pants today?!" Sam chastised. "I heard 93 was the high today."
"93?!" Alex chastised.
"I guess we should expect those temps until nightfall," Clover sighed.
"Hopefully Mat and Britney and the others come back with our lunches soon," Alex remarked.
"I almost feel guilty for not going with them to get lunch," Sam replied with a slight cringe.
"Me, too," Clover stated, feeling some guilt, too.
"Well, it's too late, unfortunately," Alex added. "I wonder if we might be met with a few complaints when they get back?"
"It's just a lunch trip, Alex," Sam chuckled.
"Yeah, I don't think we'd have anything to worry about," Clover giggled.
They then thought of what to do while waiting.
As soon as Sam and Clover eyed their pool outside, grins came on their faces; Alex saw what they were looking at, and she seemed to deduce that the pool seemed to be the ideal place to be. They nodded and proceeded to go there until...
"Wait!" Clover proclaimed.
"Why the stop, Clover?" Sam wondered.
Everybody got out their X-Powders after Sam and Alex realized none of the threesome were in swimsuits.
"Sammy, did you say the high was 93 today?" Clover asked.
"Uh-huh," Sam answered, looking perplexed.
"Well, in that case..." Clover started. "Would a bathing suit do justice?"
"Clover, are you thinking what I think you're thinking?" Sam asked with a surprised look on her face.
Alex was surprised, too.
Clover could tell Sam and Alex had full intentions of wearing swimsuits if they were going to their pool.
Meanwhile, the rest of the spies were on their way home from gathering lunch for the team.
"Yikes, why is it so freakin' hot today?" Mat groaned. "I mean, I know it's normal for this time of the year, but this feels ridiculous!"
"If you think this is ridiculous, you should see what it's like in Florida," Nick chuckled. "I went there a few years back to visit my aunt, and I swear to god I thought I was going to literally melt like the Wicked Witch after getting splashed."
"...huh. That's an image," Britney giggled.
"Has that happened to you a lot, Nick?" Blaine asked.
"Oh, Blaine, do I have stories to tell you," Nick laughed. "How about the one time I went to Hawaii as a kid?"
"Wait a minute, you actually went to Hawaii before all of this?!" Mat gasped.
"Yeah, when I was younger," Nick responded. "Mom and dad went there for their belated honeymoon when I was only ten, and I was super jealous, so I basically begged mom and dad to take me with them next time they went. I sure as heck wasn't expecting it to be so hot and humid, but I still had a ton of fun."
"You used to live in Hawaii, Mat, so I'm pretty sure those kind of temperatures are normal to you, right?" Britney asked.
"Well, mostly," Mat admitted. "There were some days when our temps shot up like crazy, but they didn't happen too often to really get under my skin, if you will."
"Ah, what I wouldn't give to be someone who's used to those kind of temperatures," Blaine chuckled. "Especially considering that we're always exposed to practically every spectrum of the temperature on our missions."
"Oh, tell me about it," Britney responded. "Don't remind me of that time when I was stuck on W.O.O.H.P. Island. The heat there was unbearable!"
When the four spies finally returned to the beach house, they were surprised to see that the girls weren't anywhere to be seen.
"Huh," Mat stated. "I kinda thought they'd be here."
"Hey, bro, it's a scorcher today, and if it's a scorcher today, there's only one place that the girls could be," Nick quipped.
So, they headed towards the pool, and sure enough...
"...well, how about that," Nick proclaimed.
Sam and Alex immediately saw their boyfriends had returned and gave waves hello with their fingers.
Mat and Nick saw their respective girlfriends were sitting at the edge of the beach house pool. Both Sam and Alex had bikinis on – Sam her red and white tie-on and Alex her yellow floral one with flowers on the top and the waistband – and they were in poses as if they were going for a swimsuit calendar or taking part in a magazine's swimsuit issue.
To say that Nick and Mat were shocked was an understatement.
"You lucky dogs," Britney chuckled at Mat and Nick.
Blaine and Britney took what Mat and Nick were holding and let them run out to see their girlfriends.
"Well, let's take the lunch to the pool," Blaine replied as he and Britney shared a chuckle.
"We're beating the heat here, as you can tell," Alex giggled as she and Sam shared a high-five, knowing they surprised their boyfriends.
"Yeah, it's a scorcher for sure," Nick replied. "It's hot as hell today!"
"Care to join us for a swim?" Sam asked.
"Yeah, sure," Mat replied with a chuckle.
"Were you waiting for us?" Nick wondered as he shared a kiss with Alex.
"...maybe," Alex giggled.
"I was waiting for ya, Mat-honey," Sam giggled as she shared a kiss with Mat.
"Well, in that case, I'll join you," Mat answered to Sam.
"Same," Nick added in response to Alex.
Mat and Nick looked back to see Britney had changed to a bikini via her X-Powder, and Blaine was now in board shorts like Mat and Nick were.
"Hold on, what about lunch since it's hot and fresh?" Mat wondered.
"It won't be long," Sam giggled.
"More importantly..." Blaine added. "Where's Clover?"
Britney could see Clover's figure in the pool and told Blaine the answer.
Simultaneously, Sam and Alex told Mat and Nick respectively about what Clover had asked them earlier about a swimsuit "being justice" on this hot day.
"Oh, geez," Mat cringed. "I hope she didn't go for it..."
"...didn't go for what?" Nick asked, only to realize what Mat meant a couple seconds later. "...never mind."
"Well, I think you can see why we didn't, even IF we have boyfriends," Sam chuckled, knowing exactly what Mat was talking about.
"Totally," Alex added.
That was when Clover popped out of the pool for Blaine to see her, but thankfully, she was still wearing her pink swimsuit.
"Hey there, Blaine-y," Clover giggled. "How are you doing on this scorcher of a day?"
"Probably about the same as you," Blaine teased. "Looks like the three of you just beat us to the pool, huh?"
"It's just one of those days, apparently," Clover laughed.
"That's one thing I miss about Japan," Nick admitted. "Their summers weren't as hot as this, at least in Tachikawa, so it was more bearable."
Suddenly, footsteps could be heard approaching the beach house.
"Um, is there someone else here?" Clover wondered.
Nick, however, was ready this time. As the front door opened and May (decked out in her two-piece orange swimsuit) came rushing in, Nick stuck his foot out as she approached and tripped her as she got close enough, sending her flying straight into the pool with a loud "SPLASH".
Clover swam slightly backwards as May resurfaced, sputtering slightly, as she hadn't been expecting that.
"You did that on purpose," May quipped.
"Maybe," Nick chuckled. "May, you know that I'm wise to that ol' trick by now."
"It's still fun," May giggled. "As to why I'm here, I figured you were all chillin' by the pool on this absolute roaster of a day, so I figured I'd join you guys for some pool shenanigans!"
"No better day for that than today," Alex laughed.
"I concur," Mat replied.
"You should've seen that coming, honestly," Sam chuckled to May.
Nick heard his X-Powder chirp and saw a message from Haruka that she was visiting, too... and was nearby.
"Holy crapbaskets, I didn't know Haruka was in town," Nick gasped.
"She probably wanted to surprise you," Alex giggled.
"Knowing Haruka, that makes sense," Nick quipped.
Meanwhile, Sam and Alex figured it was good to relay what Clover said earlier.
"You considered... that, Clover?!" May gasped.
"I only backed off because Sam and Alex weren't on board," Clover replied, not denying it.
"I'm a little mixed on that," Mat commented.
"Personally, I'm a little relieved you backed off going that way," Blaine added. "Especially with me."
"I can see that, honestly," Clover admitted.
"I would've waited a bit myself," Britney added as she came in the pool.
"Same here," May quipped.
"Why are you mixed on... that, Mat?" Alex wondered as Nick came back.
"Well, I don't think it's a dirty thing, per se," Mat chuckled. "Especially if Clover really DID go through with that..."
"Just always surprising, right?" Sam guessed.
"Yes," Mat emphasized. "Besides, Australia does have nude beaches after all..."
"That's an image, definitely," Nick chuckled.
"Some people like it, some people don't," Alex added.
Britney then cleared her throat. "Well, inquiring talk aside, Nick, what happened with you?"
"Haruka called me," Nick answered.
He then told the group his news.
"I hope Haruka didn't hear of this news," Blaine commented.
"She's getting ready now," Nick replied.
Almost as if on cue, the beach house's front door slid open once again to allow Haruka inside.
"Lo, I have arrived!" Haruka proclaimed as she headed for the pool, where she was pretty sure Nick and the others were. "I kinda figured you'd all be at the pool, considering how freakin' hot it is out here."
"You know us so well, apparently," Alex chuckled.
"We were actually just about to eat lunch before we truly commit to the pool," Blaine quipped. "Did you wanna join us for that, Haruka?"
"Oh, you bet," Haruka replied. "But first..."
Haruka quickly dashed upstairs so she could change into her swimsuit (since she didn't have a "quick change button" like the spies did), eventually coming back down in a pink and blue two-piece.
"Ah, much better," Haruka giggled before deciding to strike a pose, since she knew how Nick was likely to react.
But it seemed like fate had other ideas this time around, as before Haruka could finish her pose, she stepped on a part of the pool area that was still wet, lost her balance, and went tumbling into the pool.
Of course, the rest of the group was pretty dumbstruck by what had just happened.
"Okay, so that was... a thing," May quipped.
"I think karma had other plans," Nick laughed.
Haruka quickly resurfaced, sputtering a bit before recomposing herself. "...yeah, I think I deserved that one," Haruka giggled. "How about we just start chowing down before I get splashed again?"
So, the spies decided to enjoy lunch together before heading back to the pool.

Final Note from Mat49324: That'll bring down the curtain on another one-shot. We hope you liked this one. I certainly liked the last part. If you've got good memory recall, you'd know this was based off the sub-plot of Demons in the Desert, with the only change being the setting – the spies' beach house. If you thought I might go for the inevitable with Clover asking if a swimsuit was justice, I didn't go that way. For now, here's The Blue Time Ranger for anything he'd like to say.
Final Note from The Blue Time Ranger: And that's all for this one! Hopefully summer will get here with the quickness, especially considering some of the weird weather around my neck of the woods. So, until next time, have a fantastic day, don't listen to the screeching morons, and we'll see you next mission!
