"I brought you coffee," he whispers the magic words as he presses his lips to the tip-top of her head that is peeking out from the comforter.
"Mmmmmm…coffee," she mumbles, barely audible, the sound muffled by the heavy blanket.
"Yes, steaming hot coffee," he waves the coffee near where he thinks her nose might be and starts walking away, "that I'm setting waaaayyyy over here, on the table." He backs up and sets the mug on his kitchen table.
"Evil."
"You didn't think I was so evil last night." He jokes as he takes a seat, sipping the tea he made for himself and waits for her to fully wake.
"Evil-er."
"Come on Lorelai, it's 7:15. You told me that I had to make sure you were up and out the door by 7:30 this morning."
Last night as they, less than gracefully, pushed their way through Luke's apartment door after their date, she'd told him that she had to leave no later than 7:30 a.m. because she had a 9:00 a.m. meeting with a new vendor for the Inn. He nodded, and filed the information away for later, he had more important things at hand at the time, like unbuttoning all the teeny tiny buttons on her shirt and kissing her lips.
"Who schedules meetings so early?"
"I don't know, but I brought you coffee to avoid another floor show." For being such a private man, Luke liked to tease her about her walking into his Diner barely dressed the morning after their first night together. Maybe it's because it was funny. Maybe because he'd finally got the girl and he wanted everyone to know. Or maybe it was because it was incredibly absurd. Had she really not smelled the food and the coffee, or heard people in the diner?
"Not funny, that wasn't my fault." She burrows deeper under the blanket, but he can see her limbs stretch.
"Who else's fault was it then?"
"Your's"
"Mine?"
"Yes, your's" she finally flipped the comforter down off her head, "because you didn't have any coffee up here, which you should have if you knew you were going to have me stay here, and" she add more flirtatiously "I was still in awe of your lovemaking abilities that I didn't recognize my surroundings."
"Ha. Ha. You were just too caffeine deprived to realize the Diner was open, but points for trying to butter me up." He stands up from the table, gives her a kiss on the lips now that they are uncovered. "Good morning," he starts walking towards the door, "and if you get out of bed in the next 2 minutes, I might just go get you a danish."
"But, it's not danish day."
"I know."
"Less evil." Lorelai finally gets out of the bed and walks over the table for her coffee.
