All the magic Knight Captains are around 20 in the beginning btw

In a small village at the end of the kingdom a woman was breathing heavily as she ran through her house. It was dark, the middle of the night. There was nowhere to hide in the small house. Not for her and not for the small bundle she was holding.

A silent cry was heard from the bundle and she looked down. Her long ash blond hair falling in front of her eyes as she begged the bundle to be silent. She rocked her arms up and down in hopes to quiet the sounds.

"Be silent, please. I don't want him to find you" she begged.

In her arms she was holding her only and first son. She named him Asta. The baby looked much like herself. Ash blond hair and green eyes. He had inherited nothing from his father it seemed. And unlike other mothers, she was grateful for it.

No one would notice his heritage. He was normal, not like his father.

She had been a fool, trusting a stranger like that. But she couldn't undo what happened and it seemed like tonight she was finally paying for her crimes.

The baby squeaked again, unhappy with all the bouncing that came from his mothers running.

When she finally reached a certain room, she put the boy down in a tiny crib. She knew very well that she wouldn't survive the night. It was fine though. Her feeling was telling her that her son would be safe.

Someone would come and protect him from the monster.

Her Grimoire began floating beside her. It was glowing in a faint gray color. She held her hands out in aiming at the baby in the crib.

"Covering magic: Cloak of disguise" she said. In an instant the baby began turning invisible.

"Don't worry sweety. Only when a person with good intention enters the room you will be found. He will never be able to see you" she whispered.

No answer was heard. She sighed in relief. Seemed like practicing the spell was worth it. Now even the sounds of the small baby were disguised and unheard by everyone.

It was the only and last thing she could do for her boy. Biting her lip, she made her way downstairs. Of course, she was scared, there was no way to deny it. Who wouldn't be scared? When she reached the bottom of the stairs, a black figure was already waiting for her.

She gasped in fake surprise.

"Where is he?" the figure asked.

The woman stayed silent. Like hell she was going to tell him. He should know better than that. After all he had more than three years to get to know her. If he even bothered about that. But she wouldn't be surprised if he didn't. the only interest he had was lying in a room upstairs, hidden by her own magic.

She had no spells to defend herself. Her magic was made to hide herself and others, not to attack others.

"You won't find him" her voice was colder than the air around her. Next thing she knew, she was lying on the ground a hole in her midsection. Breathing was getting harder for her, the pain almost enough to knock her unconscious.

"Now we'll try again. Where is he Emily!?" this time more force was behind those words, but she refused to answer.

Her fists tightened in anger. She tried to find him in the large room, but in the darkness of the night, along with her blurring vision, it was hard to make out any shape.

"Your time in this world is limited, we both know that. I wont tell you and you'll be forced to leave again" she forced out.

He snickered. "That is why I will take him with me. I will find him anyway, so just say it."

"Never!" she hissed.

"Why do you make this so hard?" he teased. "There is no need for you to die. I'll find him either way."

There was no need for her to die? Yeah right. They both knew very well that she would be killed by his hands at some point. So why tell him? The last thing she could do, was making his life hard for just a few moments.

She smiled, blood trailing out of her mouth. "You can tear this house down, but you won't find him. Funny right? You want me dead but need me alive to find him" she laughed, coughing up more blood after wards.

The dark being hummed in response. "Used your magic, didn't you? That won't stop me" he declared.

Emily breathed in deeply, well she tried, eyes closing for a minute. Her time was running out. She had to stall him for at least a few more minutes.

"Maybe she can't, but we surely can" a voice said.

Emily was unable to look up or look around. Her body was paralyzed from the pain and the blood loss. But she knew who it was. It was the help she needed, the help she had called for.

Suddenly a young man sat by her side. She recognized the pale blue hair and the light purple eyes. His name was Rill, and even at his young age, he still managed to become Captain of a magic knight squads of the Clover kingdom.

So her prayer for her son had been answered. She had sent a message and begged someone would come. Though the voice she had heard hadn't been the one of Rill. It was someone else. Had all Captains come at once?

Didn't matter. As far as she knew, none of them had healing magic. The blood she had already lost was enough to soon fall unconscious and never wake up again. But she felt good knowing she wasn't going to die alone.

More like, she wasn't going to die alone with that monster that wanted to get the small boy.

Rill checked on the wounds Emily had. He knew very will that he couldn't help her. None of them could. Still, he grabbed a blanket that was lying on the floor near them, pressing it on the wound on her stomach. She whimpered in pain.

God that hurt so much. She never thought that she would die like this. Just because she met someone and fell in love. Of course, the first time she had met him, he didn't look like this. He looked like a normal man, working in the small village and trying to earn his money. A normal person like everyone else.

Soon though, Emily fell in love with him and became pregnant. He was more than delighted when she told him. And then, a few months later, when she gave birth, he decided to show his true intentions.

He didn't do it on purpose. She just found him in the room her son was sleeping in and of course she had screamed. The first thought that had crossed her mind was, that some beast broke into the house and came to kill her baby.

But it was him. The man she had fallen in love with so easily. She had begun to question her love for him. And those words she had heard from him were heartbreaking.

"I needed an heir and you seemed fitting. You gave me what I wanted."

She wanted to hate Asta for it. He was just the product of a greedy demon. But she couldn't. No matter what she had tried, the look in his eyes just made her love him even more. Eventually she gave up on it. It wasn't his fault after all.

The pressure on her wound began to fade, the blanket full of her blood by now. But the wound was still bleeding. She could've laughed. That bastard knew exactly where he had to strike her for it to be fatal. Maybe he would've healed her if she decided to give him her baby.

Her strength was leaving her and there was only one thing she could do before she would leave the world of the living.

She grabbed Rill's arm, capturing his attention. Her breathing was ragged, becoming more uneven and painful with every breath she took. But she had to get it out. Now or never.

"My baby….Asta….please protect him….." Emily tightened her grip one last time before her eyes fell shut, hand falling to the ground.

Rill looked at the woman in confusion for a moment before checking her pulse. None. There was nothing. He checked at her neck, her hand, everywhere where he thought he could possibly find something. But there was nothing pulsating against his fingers.

Rill stood back up, turning back towards the other captains. The black being was watching them with interest. At least that's what Rill thought until it spoke.

With a scoff it said: "What a shame Emily. And all that just for a baby"

But apparently it knew very well that a fight with all of them would be dangerous. Because it didn't decide to fight. Besides his time in this world was over for now. It just narrowed its eyes at all of them.

"You all mark my words. I will find that boy one day, and then you'll all be sorry" with that, it vanished in a cloud of grey smoke.

Nozel raised an eyebrow. "Boy?"

Rill jumped. "The baby. She said something about her baby"

He ran up the stairs of the small house. It was impossible for the baby to be downstairs in such a chaos, without someone noticing him. Besides, the black being wouldn't have left if he had known where he was. So, it only made sense that the woman had left him somewhere upstairs.

Rill heard a small cry coming from one of the rooms. He checked all of them, finding nothing. Just one room had the stuff one would need for a baby. The crib at the wall was the biggest hint though. As Rill walked closer, he saw the small boy laying inside.

Ash-blond hair covering his head lightly. He was crying, probably heard the sounds from downstairs and became distressed. Rill had never dealt with a baby before. He was only nineteen.

Carefully, he picked the small boy up. The cries began to still as he noticed that he was being taken care of now. His eyes opened to reveal a shining emerald color.

Rill was confused. What did the being want with the boy? He looked like a normal baby to him. Did he just want to kill the boy? Even if he did, why would he do that? Killing a baby. How low you must be to do that.

The young captain walked back down the stairs, the small boy still in his arms. They couldn't leave him here. He would die without help in a matter of days. It wouldn't be fair at all.

At the end of the stairs, the others were already waiting for him. Rill made sure that the baby couldn't see all the blood and the body of his dead mother. He probably wouldn't understand, but Rill had once read somewhere that memories resided in the mind until death, you could only lose the ability to recall them.

And if it would result in the child being scarred mentally, he didn't want to be the reason of it.

"So that's her baby then" Yami decided not to smoke for once. He was stubborn, but he knew how bad it would be for the baby's lungs.

"Looks like it. But what did that thing want from him?" Jack asked.

"Who knows. I don't even know what he was. Killing a woman for her baby, what a disrespectful act" Charlotte grumbled.

She may act cold around others, but Rill somehow had a feeling that she felt bad for the baby. A father didn't seem to be around, and his mother was dead.

"And what do we do now?" Rill asked, adjusting the boy in his arms.

"First we'll talk to Julius. We need to figure out why the being wanted to find the boy. And then we find a place for him to stay" Yami said.

Rill looked down at the boy he held. This was going to be a long night.

So I originally wanted to post this when I was done with my other stroy, but I didn't really see any reason to wait any longer. The title may Change at some Point. I plan to update every Tuesday.

Hope the first chapter speaks to you.
