Everyone ready for a bit more private time between Asta and Yuno ;)
The next mission he was finally allowed to attend was one that was important. He knew it without even asking. Since they found out that the enemy is searching for magical stones, the magic knights made it their mission to find them first.
No one knew why they needed them, but Asta had a feeling that one would be enough to stop their whole plan. He didn't even know what they wanted, but the way they had attacked innocent people made it clear that they didn't care who got hurt along the way.
And that made it their personal mission to stop them at any cost.
When they found out that one of the stones was in an underwater temple, they traveled there without hesitation. But one thing was stopping them. The temple had the name for a good reason, and there was no way they could swim down there without drowning.
The only solution was for Noelle to expand her spell. The spell that created a sphere around them. If she learned to control if better and make it bigger, then they could get down there.
During training, they met Kahono. A young woman with dark red hair and song magic. At first, she had been embarrassed when Asta and Noelle had spotted her. But then she told them everything. Her dream, her life. She promised to help them train.
Kahono gave Noelle the advice to let loose. That she was being to strict with herself. And, that happy memories would help to perfect the spell.
It took several days. Eventually after many healing and training sessions, Noelle seemed surprised herself when a new spell was born. Sea dragons cradle. Everyone cheered. But when Noelle turned to thank her new friend, she had already disappeared.
"Well, that was certainly interesting."
Asta yelled in surprise, turning around. He had totally forgotten that Yuno had joined them for the mission. It was something he didn't expect. In fact, Yuno had been joining them in a lot of missions lately.
He didn't really know why, and it didn't matter. Asta didn't mind at all. Yuno as strong. And the more the better.
"Yeah" he laughed awkwardly. "That was some help I didn't expect."
The teen watched the other as he looked at the moon high in the sky. Tomorrow would be full moon. Tomorrow they would go down to the temple. The best chance they would get for the month.
Mom had told him sometime that water mages were better at night, and best during full moon. He couldn't really remember why, but he knew it was true. Asta could see it with Noelle very good.
During the last days, the more the days edged towards the full moon, the easier it seemed to get for her. It wasn't just the training; it was the energy of the moon as well. And the same goes for fire mages and the sun. Their power grew during summer, at least Asta liked to think that. Maybe all of this was just imagination.
"We should go to bed" Yuno muttered. "We don't know what will be in the temple."
Without another word, he turned and left. Asta had learned that Yuno didn't talk much. That he liked to let his actions speak. And right now, they were telling him to follow. He didn't know what it was, but the pure desire to be closer to the other wouldn't let him go.
And the things Mom and Dad had said about those feelings didn't really help. The teen decided to find out himself what he was feeling. He wasn't stupid, read books about romantic feelings. And yet there was something holding him back from just admitting it to himself.
What could possibly go wrong? Relationships were something that everybody had in their life, right? So, why shouldn't he give it a try? Being in love for the first time was weird and something unknown.
Asta didn't really know how to react. The one thing he did know, was that Yuno was giving him similar signals. Maybe, just maybe, he should take the chance.
Nodding to himself, he followed the taller teen. Making the first step was harder than he thought though. As soon as he had caught up, everything he intended to say got stuck in his throat.
How do you tell someone how you feel? What do you even do when they reject you? Maybe he should just leave. The place where they were staying had one less room free than they needed. His first thought was that he would be staying with his father.
But now the desire to ask Yuno if he wanted to share the room was just as big as his fear of saying anything at all. It wasn't that hard. Really. But every time he opened his mouth to say anything nothing came out.
What was even wrong with him? It was just a stupid crush! It would go away. And giving into his own want wouldn't help either. But wasn't that crush totally fine a moment ago? Taking a deep breath, Asta tried to speak once again.
"You know" Yuno suddenly said.
His mouth clicked shut instantly. Whatever thought he just had, it flew right out of his mind in favor of just listening to the other.
"The Captain said that we're short one room. Would you mind sharing?"
And oh, those molten golden eyes stared down at him, expecting an answer. Should he say yes? No? Afraid that his voice would fail him again, Asta just shook his head, showing that he didn't mind at all.
And that's when Yuno grabbed his hand, lacing their fingers together. Asta could feel how his face became red. On the way to their room, he saw Dad.
Yami watched as his son walked away with the taller teen. And he couldn't suppress the grin that came when Asta noticed him. And how his face became even redder upon noticing him.
Asta felt embarrassed. Dad had noticed them. Which meant the whole squad would know within the next five minutes top. But he didn't want to think about that right now. He got the chance to be closer to his crush for the first time, there was no way Dad could ruin that.
Entering one of the rooms, Asta realized that none of them had even talked about who would go in which room. They didn't plan this, did they? How would they even know about this? Could he have been so obvious?
The room was decent sized. Bigger than the ones back at the base. Well, his base. Yuno's room was twice as big this one at least. Another door that probably led to a bathroom. Light blue painted walls.
It seemed like a normal room until his eyes fell onto the bed. Yes, bed. One, singular. Not one bed for each of them, but one large bed for them to share. Oh heavens, Asta was not ready for that.
Sharing a bed was not a problem for him. Sharing a bed with his crush was something else. And he hoped his face didn't show how nervous he was about this.
"I don't know about you, but I'm gonna take a shower before bed" Yuno's voice brought him back into reality. He quickly nodded.
As Yuno left for the bathroom, Asta thought if he should take a shower himself before sleeping. It had been a long day and the first one he would be spending in a proper bed.
It was then he noticed that he had been sleeping at the beach for the past few days. Why did he do that? They didn't get this many rooms just so that he can sleep in the sand. But no one seemed to have noticed of complained about it.
Had he really forgotten to go inside? Asta could imagine that he did just that. And no one had said anything.
"Weird" he muttered to himself.
About twenty minutes later, when Yuno came out of the bathroom, Asta went to take a shower himself. He left the water run cold, trying to distract himself from his own thoughts.
"It's no big deal" the teen tried to assure himself. "You're just gonna share a bed with him, its fine. No need to turn this into a big deal."
Once finished, Asta went to lay down on his side of the bed. He didn't know how much time he spent in the shower, but apparently it had been long enough to give Yuno time to fall asleep.
It was quiet, the only sound being their own calm breaths. It felt like back then. When he was younger. When he would sleep in the same bed as Mom. He used to tuck his head under her chin, her heartbeat being the most calming thing in the world to him.
If he did such a thing now, it would be weird, awkward even. And Yuno wasn't Mom. He probably didn't even share the same feelings. Closing his eyes, Asta turned onto his side. It was best not to think about it.
He had almost completely fallen asleep when he felt movement. An arm draped over his waist, dragging him closer to the taller teen. Asta was surprised to find himself just in the position he wanted to be in.
Head tucked right at the others chest, chin right on his head. Asta would've thought that Yuno did this unconsciously during his sleep. But his heartbeat was way to fast to be sleeping. And he felt his own heart picking up the pace too.
"Yuno?" he mumbled in confusion.
At first there was no response. Maybe he had been wrong. Maybe Yuno really was asleep and just had a dream that made his body react this way. But no such thing.
"I'm not good with feelings" Asta heard the taller teen mutter. "But around you it just seems so much easier."
Asta hummed in response. What was he supposed to say? He already knew that feelings weren't Yuno's thing, but that was fine. There was no need for him to change himself. He loved him just the way he was.
They were like two sides of a coin. He was loud and Yuno was quiet. When Asta showed to much emotion Yuno would do just the opposite.
And being close to him like this felt exactly right. There was nothing that felt wrong or weird about this position. Asta wouldn't mind staying like this for the rest of the night.
"I don't need you to be like everyone else" he smiled, snuggling closer to the warmth of the other. "Being different is good."
He felt how Yuno pressed him even closer. He didn't really know why but didn't mind it either. Asta had always been the kind of person that preferred physical contact. For as long as he could, he would pretend to be unable to sleep alone. Just so that he could cuddle with Mom.
"So, you don't mind?" that question was unnecessary.
"Of course I don't" he smiled.
A deep inhale of breath made him focus on the other once more. The teen could feel that there was something else on Yuno's mind. Something he wanted to say but seemed to afraid to say it.
He was about to ask when he felt himself being pushed away lightly, head lifted and lips meeting his own. Asta felt his eyes widen. This was not what he expected.
The kiss was light yet demanding. His first one, he realized. His first kiss and it was better than he expected it to be. There was no one he could compare this to, but it felt pretty damn good.
Seconds later, his eyes slid shut. This felt way to good to think about it much. And who was he to deny that he wanted this?
It ended way to early though, when those lips pulled away again, head pressed against the toned chest once again. Asta felt the heat on his cheeks. It crawled up from his neck and spread across his whole face.
"Sorry" he heard Yuno mumble.
Asta leaned his head back, chin resting against the others chest. Emerald green eyes meeting honey-colored ones. He wouldn't mind staying like this for another few hours. Arms wrapped around his waist, tucked into protection.
"Don't be" he muttered back.
And then it was his turn to start the kiss. Eyes closed, Asta focused on the feeling of soft lips on his own. He didn't know how long they let this last, but at some point, in the middle of the night Asta woke up again, still cuddled close to Yuno (his boyfriend?).
The moon was already going down again, signaling that the new day was coming. With a low grumble, Asta buried his face in the chest of the taller teen, hoping that it was still a few hours before they had to get up.
The next time Asta woke up it was to the sound of frantic knocking on the door. With a sigh he heaved himself out of bed, opening the door.
"Mornin' Dad" he mumbled, rubbing the sleep out of his eye.
Yami grinned at his boy. A glance behind him showed that Yuno was still sleeping, searching for the source of warmth that had been there a moment ago. A small part of him asked himself how far this went.
He knew very well that his son was a morning person. Being still asleep at this hour meant that he was awake deep into the night.
"Kid its almost noon. You both better get up. Charmy left you some breakfast" Yami chuckled.
"Okay" Asta grumbled, shutting the door again.
Yawning, Asta forced himself into his normal clothes. Usually this was the kind of day where he would do nothing for once. These rare days where he decided to take a break. Or one of his parents forced him to.
"Yuno" he shook the other teens shoulder, who just grumbled in response.
With a deep breath, Asta smacked himself on the cheeks, getting himself to wake up just a bit more.
"Time to get up!"
"Okay, okay" Yuno mumbled, throwing the blanket off himself.
For the rest of the day, Asta and Yuno stuck together like leeches. The others noticed that too, but never said anything. Just watching the two with a knowing smile.
Yami watched them too. The task he had given Yuno to watch his boy turned into more than he expected. Well, more like earlier. He knew something like this was going to happen sooner or later. With how both of them had been watching each other.
Not like he had a problem with it. It was good for Asta to have relationships outside of the squad. He and Charlotte had basically kept him a secret from members of other squads. But now he was old enough to make his own choices.
Time flew by so fast and Yami wondered if, after all these years, he would ever be able to tell him the truth. Not with how happy he looked. Grinning at Yuno like he was the sun itself.
Over the years Yami had started to see the little troublemaker as his own. It didn't matter that he and Charlotte were never even together. They raised him like he was part of their family. And he is and always will be. Even if he will be angry when finding out the truth.
The fact that Gueldre wanted to say it out loud concerned him. If Asta got the hint that the former Captain had been talking about him, he didn't show it. Which Yami was glad for.
He had never thought himself that he would get so attached to the kid. No matter what that demon was to Asta, he was part of his family now.
And he wouldn't have it any other way.
Since I will be having a lot of time to write this week (free time while having surgery in the hospital) maybe I'm already able to tell how many chapters there will be in the end.
Anyway, hope you liked this weeks chapter. Leave a coment to tell me your thoughts
Bye
