Zaqec let out a sigh as he looked to his brother, the grey-feathered Aarakocra looking tired. "Brother, repeat for me again?" His twin, Lavos, shook his head. "The weather regulation wards are failing again, and two foreign wizards died when their spells went wild. They-" Lavos was cut off by a scream. Zaqec jumped to his feet, his eyes glowing with his magic. "Lavos, get the hatchlings to safety. NOW!"

Zaqec invoked a talisman, teleporting above. Above the aerie, a storm of blue fire brewed. Zaqec looked around with concern. And then...he felt the Weave shatter. Blue flame arched to him, striking his face, and Zaqec felt his magic go wild. The pain was overwhelming, causing him to crash to the ground, his wings clipped. The Aarakocra screamed as the aerie was struck by blue fire, and he tried to keep it from coming down. Lavos watched his brother scream in pain as the last of the Aerie left, tears evident in his eyes. And then, Zaqec's magic gave out and the mount collapsed around him, his final cry...cut off.

Zaqec felt the warmth of Mystra, befor eit went cold. Zaqec watched in horror as his beloved goddess' realm fell apart, as he fell back to Faerun. Zaqec woke up. He couldn't think, only feel, damned to wander.

-
One day, Zaqec saw someone strange. A...humanoid dragon? The creature saw him, and smiled. "Poor thing. Damned to wander hm? Come, little bird. Tell me what happened." The ghostly avian approached, his voice ethereal as he spoke. "Blue Fire. Magic Wild. Dweomerheart...gone." The avian started to cry, and the creature reached out, clad in holy light as he hugged him. "Poor little one. Caught in the Blue Breath of Change, the Spellplague. What is your name?" Zaqec didn't notice being held as he spoke. "Zaqec, son of Ravis of Aaqa" The creature, the paladin for that was what he was, smiled. "And I am Kriv of Clan Lixorith, Paladin of Bahamu. Perhaps...I can help you live again." Zaqec perked up. "I can...live again?" Kriv nodded. "Yes." Zaqec stepped back. "How?" Kriv would explain it, and Zaqec agreed to it.

10 years later

"Zaqec!" The sound of a female Dragonborn caught the young birdfolk's attention, before she walked in. "Zaqec, what have you been doing?" Thee avian chuckled, holding up a book. "This, mother! Keeping my memory of old magics fresh!" Kilra chuckled. "Even in this life, ever the bookworm. You ready to meet with Darek and show your progress?" Zaqec nodded. "Mhm! Lets go!" The Aarakocra laughed as he took to the sky, Kilra following him.
