Coming home to talk with his parents turned out to be just as awkward as he thought it would. The moment he met his father's eyes, everything changed. Yami instantly knew. The defeated look he received from him was nerve wrecking.

His father had always been tough, never showing much of his emotions or thoughts. But Asta always knew what he was thinking. He knew how much his father cared. How much he loved the whole squad and would kill those who hurt any of them.

But this time, it was different. The teen could still read the emotions, but it was different. And it was then Asta realized that, as much as he still loved his parents, it would never be the same again.

It got even worse when Mom came. She was on the verge of crying. And Asta had never seen his mother cry. She had screamed in frustration, yelled when she was nervous and gentle when he needed it. But she had never cried.

It was weird. For a long time, none of them spoke. Yuno was rubbing circles on the back of his right hand, calming his nerves. Mom had her hands folded in her lap, clutching them desperately. Dad crossed his arms over his chest, not smoking for once.

Asta knew that the others were secretly listening. It was fine. They would find out sooner or later. And it was in the nature of the whole squad it seemed, to be very curious.

"So" Mom finally started. "You found out…" she bit her lip.

The blond nodded silently. He didn't know how to talk about this. He never even thought that there would be a need for this talk. The one where Mom and Dad would tell him what had really happened. Liebe hadn't really told him everything in detail. And he said to talk to them.

"Yeah" he mumbled.

Was he mad? Angry? No. confused? Hell yeah. Even with Liebe's explanation there were still some things that he didn't understand. And they could answer those questions. Hopefully.

"I'm not mad, if you think that" he quickly added.

Charlotte's eyes widened in surprise. "You're not?" she asked, just to make sure she heard right.

Over the last fifteen years she had readied herself for this moment. For the moment her boy would come to her and tell her that he knew. And yell at her for it, for many reasons. For not telling him sooner, for taking him away from his family.

She didn't expect him to be fine with it. To just accept it the way it was. Not even crying over the truth. Over the lie he had lived.

Yami cleared his throat. "Well, what do you know?"

"I think I know most of it" the teen shrugged. "About that night at least…"

"You seem pretty okay with all of this" Charlotte observed.

"I mean, it's not like you meant for this to happen. You did what you had to" Asta said.

Charlotte took a deep breath. How could he be so calm about this? It was one of the worst things one could do to another person. Pretending to be their parent, raising a stranger.

"Do you have any questions though?" she asked.

Asta crossed his arms in thought. A lot, actually. But where should he start? "I know about the devil, I know about my birth mother, I know what happened that night and I know about the agreement between the magic knight Captains and the wizard king. What I don't know though is why you acted like this. Where you guys even ever together?"

"Ah…..eh…." Yami scratched the back of his neck. There were a lot of things he could say. He could lie about it or tell the truth. That he had actually developed feelings for the woman he pretended to love for a long time.

"Well, no. That relationship was just another part of everything. And the only other person in this house that knew about it was Henry" he admitted.

"Wait, Henry knows?" Asta asked in surprise.

"Yeah…. Told him to keep that Grimoire away about nine years ago."

"Huh…" he really didn't see this one coming. On the way back Asta had thought about them taking the Grimoire when he had been six. They were scared, he knew that now. But he never would've guessed that Henry knew anything about this.

"Yes, back then our relationship was made up. We thought it would make things easier, not like that worked out well" Charlotte laughed lightly, clear sarcasm in her voice.

Back then, sounded like right now it was different. The teen narrowed his eyes, a playful smirk on his lips. "Back then, huh?" he teased.

Charlotte blushed. Darn it. Living in a squad full of maniacs has made him sarcastic and way too much like his father. "Yes, back then" she coughed awkwardly.

Yami just laughed fully. While teens rarely saw their own emotions towards one another, they could see it as clear as the day when it came to their parents.

"Yeah, we decided to try for real this time."

Asta clapped his hands together. "Does that mean no more yelling?" he asked hopefully.

"No, probably not" his mother smiled. "It's just the way we are."

"I'll take what I can get" the teen shrugged.

Really, he would. As long as they were both happy, it was fine with him. It didn't matter that they weren't his birth parents. What matters was that they raised him and loved him. The fact that he was related to a devil didn't matter to them.

But Asta decided to tell them about Liebe another time. He was part of his life now too, but it would be a bit much to tell them about him now. He himself had to get used to that. It was weird.

'You'll get used to it' a voice in his head grumbled.

Yep, he could hear Liebe now. At least when the devil-him wanted to be heard. After the confrontation with Zagred, he had unlocked that ability. And this way they could train together, so that he could use his awesome now powers more often and longer.

But there were still a few things that bothered him.

"What now though?" he asked.

"What do you mean?" Yuno asked. His parents showed confusion too. No, it wasn't what they thought.

"Don't you think he'll come back? That he'll try again. I don't doubt that he will try to find a way to stay permanently" he said.

Yuno hummed in thought. "You're right. He will try to come back."

Charlotte took a deep breath. "I was afraid he would come back one day. But that doesn't mean we'll let him win. Whatever he wants" she declared.

"Well, for one: he wants to kill me" the blond said.

"What!?" Yami and Charlotte yelled in surprise. "I always thought he wanted to claim you" Yami meant.

Asta nodded. "He did try that, but after I refused, he decided to stab me."

"That could be a problem. But besides that, what does he want?" Charlotte thought out loud.

"Maybe the others can help us. Idiots! Come out!" Yami yelled.

Immediately every member of the black bulls tumbled into the room, almost tripping over themselves. Asta smiled. Idiots they were, like himself, but more family than that devil could ever be to him.

"Alright dork squad time to think" Yami declared.

"I don't know much about devils" Noelle shrugged.

"Wait, devil? I thought he was a demon" Charlotte said with confusion.

"Is there even a difference?" Finral asked.

"Who knows" Yami shrugged. "We still need answers. What could he want?"

"Beside the obvious? I learned that devils are beings from the underworld. They spread chaos and most of the time they try to manipulate humans to take over the world" Vanessa said.

"Okay, what if he does? How is he going to do that?" Asta asked.

"For that he would need to open the door to the underworld" a new voice said.

Everyone turned to see a black figure sitting on the counter of the bar. Their legs were crossed, hands resting on their knees as it leaned forward a bit. Possibly to get a better look at all of them.

Yami drew his katana, ready to attack. Charlotte used her own magic to make a weapon. Noelle took out her wand, Vanessa using her strings.

And Yuno, Yuno clutched his boyfriend close to him. He didn't know how, but another devil has made its way into their world and had possibly followed them on their way home.

However, the devil didn't seem fazed by the threats of magic around it. Instead, it rolled its eyes at them, as if waiting for the attack to come.

"Hey hey" Asta ripped himself out of the grip of his boyfriend and walked over to the devil.

He put his hands on his waist and leaned a bit over the devil. In response, the devil looked up at him with boredom. Yuno expected him to try and make friends with the devil. That's what Asta did. He tried to make friends with everyone he met.

"I thought you didn't want to come out. You told me that like three hours ago" the teen huffed.

"I was bored" the devil answered. "And you haven't told them yet. That makes it more fun" he grinned, showing sharp teeth.

"Liebe" the teen rolled his eyes. He should've known that the devil would do such a thing. Even if he had said otherwise.

"Liebe?!" everyone yelled.

Asta turned around, seeing the surprised and shocked look on his family's faces. Right, he had some explaining to so.

"Everyone this is Liebe" he smiled, gesturing to the devil.

"Hey" Liebe gave a small wave.

"I feel worried. Should I be worried?" Charlotte muttered.

There was a literal devil sitting in their home and her son was acting like it was perfectly normal. It was not normal at all. How did he even know that devil? Didn't he find out about all of this today? Just a few hours ago? Had she missed something?

"And ….uh…. who is he?" Noelle asked.

"Oh, right! Liebe is me….. kinda. It's hard to explain. Basically, he is the devil-part of me created by Zagred" the teen explained.

"And where does he suddenly come from?" Yami asked.

Liebe leaned back a bit, placing his hands behind his legs to hold himself up and keeping him from falling. "From inside Asta of course. Or more like, from his subconsciousness? I don't really know" he shrugged.

"I am so confused right now" Finral admitted.

Not just him. Everyone seemed more than surprised and confused at the sudden reveal. Yuno could see some similarities though. As a devil, he could be like Asta's twin. No doubt in that. He decided not to think about it too much.

"After the asshole unlocked the connection between us, we can now talk with each other, and I can come out whenever I want" the devil explained.

"Language young devil!" Charlotte said. She couldn't help herself. It slipped out before she could even think about it. But she didn't mind at all. In a strange kind of way, it seemed right to her.

"Sorry Mom. Back to my point though. If Zagred wants something its to leave the underworld permanently. And he can only do that if someone opens the gate to the underworld, or if he finds a body" Liebe said.

The blond woman was very surprised by the devil's answer. He had called her mom. Well, if he and Asta were the same person, then she guessed it was fine. Apparently, she had two kids now. Or one and a half? Who knew?

"And how is he going to do that?" Noelle asked.

Liebe shrugged. "He would have to find humans willing to do just that. Either offer him a body or open the door to the underworld. Depends on how messed up they are in their mind."

Yami hummed in thought. "There are a few people crazy enough for this. And I think right now there is only one group that is fitting into the picture."

Oh, Asta didn't like where this was going. He knew who his father was talking about. The only group they knew right now who was actually able and had a plan to harm the kingdom.

Being honest with himself, the teen didn't want to meet anyone of them ever again. People had been hurt enough because of them. He himself knew how much one of them could harm people.

And he just got back from such a mission where his life almost when down the hill. But who was he kidding? Their leader had already hinted it.

Guess it was time for war

Like I said this is the last chapter that I have finished so far. I won't stop here though. Can't promise there will be an update next week. Maybe I'll take some time off to write more chapters. Right now I'm not that inspirated to write. I don't even know what to write, but I'll try.
