Chapter 1
Summer 2012
"You really never learned how to ride a bike?"
"No" she said in an embarrassed tone
"Want me to teach you?"
"Yes!" she exclaimed with a bright grin.
...
"That was such a great movie!"
"I know right?" He said with happy tone. "Ready for the next one?"
"There are more?!" She asked with wide eyes
"There are two more in this franchise. All three are great, Hope you are ready to be amazed" He got up from the couch "Just let me get some more snacks"
...
"You really are a great dancer" He complimented
With flushed face, she grinned up at him.
"Why don't i get some more drinks for ourselves, then we can dance some more"
"Sure!"
...
Looking at the sunset, he felt content like never before
"hey, Hadrian"
"yeah?" He turned to look into her eyes.
"i know we didn't speak about it..." She averted her gaze "But i have to leave tomorrow"
With a sigh he returned to looking at the horizon
"Yeah... i had a feeling this was just a summer thing" Another sigh left his lips for a moment, but then a grin formed "But i had a lot o fun with you, i would never regret spending my summer in your company"
With a faint laugh, she disengaged from his side, and took from her purse a metal necklace, extending her hand holding it to him, she said "Why don't you keep this with you to remember me by, and ten years from now you will get a prize?"
With a laugh, he put on the necklace "i have to wait for ten years for a prize? It better be an amazing prize"
Turning away from him, she grinned an otherworldly grin. "Trust me. the prize is worth the wait"
Summer 2022
Hadrian was just finishing preparing his dinner when a flash of light blinded him and he found himself sitting in a leather chair in a white, featureless, expanse.
"Hello Hadrian" Said a voice that he had not heard in over ten years.
Looking at the woman in front of him, his eyes widened "Louise?"
"Sorry" With a sad smile, the women continued "But Louise never truly existed, she was just a small fragment of mine that fell into your world after a particular difficult disagreement i had with my colleagues"
Blinking rapidly, Hadrian tried to process things. "Fragment?"
"Yes. I'm an Outer Goddess, you see, and after a recent altercation with a few of my kind, a few fragments of my essence have scattered into the omniverse. Diminished, they did their own things" She showed a grin "I was quite happy to see that 'Louise' had quite a happy little vacation with you"
Taking a few calming breaths, Hadrian tried to calm his heart.
Because even if it was only a fragment, what his mind latched on was the fact that he had scored a Goddess.
He did not want to give offence due to this unreasonable pride that wanted him to puff up his chest.
With a giggle she continued. "I promised you a prize, right?" A grin took her lips "Ten years, the worth of the prize, as i said, is dependent on how often you wore the necklace i gave you, so let's see how you did" With a wave of her hand, a familiar metal necklace appeared, floating between both of them.
With a fond grin, Hadrian leaned back in the chair.
Although before now the necklace appeared mundane, it was a memento of one of his most fond memories.
He wore it every day. Taking it off only to clean it and in situations where having a metal item was not recommended.
With wide eyes she exclaimed "9 years, 11 months and 13 days!" Her gaze zeroed in on him. "you are so sweet! now, i know your mind is still kinda of overwhelmed, so i will simplify things for you. Your prize is to be sent out there in the multiverse! With a Cheat! With your present memories intact! you will be inserted in the body of someone destined to have died in an accident, two days before said accident. You will have all their memories and abilities. They will also be your own parallel counterpart in the specific world. Now, the world you will be sent will be kinda random. What you will have to chose is your Cheat. You have all Tier 9+ Cheats available to you" Floating over to him was a Shinning Scroll. "So be smart when choosing"
Taking the Scroll in his hands and opening it, Hadrian read over his options.
There were many, but almost automatically, his eyes kept going to the third one on the list.
Library of the Heaven's Path.
From what he remembered, it was a truly god-like cheat if used well.
And no matter where he was sent, the ability to collate knowledge and know the inherent flaws of things would allow him to achieve greatness.
And he kinda wanted to be great.
Looking at HER, he quirked an eyebrow.
"The Library Cheat has been modified a little bit. You will have no Golden Page. You will also not be able to simply combine books willy nilly. Once a week, the Library will generate a Blank Book. You will name this Book, giving it a Title and a Subject. The book will then write itself based on all books indexed in the Library. That's another thing: You will be able to scan books into the Library by simple touching them, but they will appear into a shelf named Unsorted. Only by entering the Library, reading the book, and Indexing it into it's designated place will it be available for it's use to the Blank Books. The Library also have a 10 to 1 time differential to the outside world. Your Mental projection in the Library will also have access to a Training room where you could train any skill available in the Library with no danger to yourself. So, a supernatural technique that have the danger of harming the user during it's learning stages will be learnable with no harming coming to you. Skills that need tools, such as Painting, Music, Smithing and other such craft, will have the tools available in the room for your use. The Library also gives you the two basic bonuses of Perfect Memory and Inviolate Mind. Are you sure the Library is your choice?"
Hadrian closed his eyes and pondered.
Any world that he could think about, the LoHP would be a Cheat with a capital C. The only type of world that he could think it would not be so useful would be if he was inserted in his Caveman parallel counterpart.
Many of the other Cheats were more powerful, but none was so versatile and capable of being so fulfilling to himself.
There were some, but they were also more of a Dark ability.
The Library was more neutral.
"Yes. I chose the Library of Heaven's Path" Hadrian's voice was firm.
"Good!" Clapping her hands, she stood up from her seat and a great wheel appear to the side. "Now, to see the World you will be sent to" The wheel begun spinning. Time appeared to lose it's meaning for a moment/eternity. The wheel then simply stopped and immediately turned into mist. She grinned
"Harry Potter World! You are a wizard Hadrian! Now, go have your new life, and know that i will always have fond memories of our summer!"
November 3, 1981
With a start, Hadrian White, recent graduate of Ilvermony Academy of Magic, sat up from his bed, scattering the bed cover all over the floor.
His breath being somewhat erratic for a moment, two sets of memories clashed and fused, his now Perfect Memory allowing to have clear and concise recollection of two lives.
Hadrian White, the Wizard, was a loner, an orphan and a perfect student.
Hadrian *****, the mundane human (and the fling of a goddess's fragment), was a somewhat sociable guy that decided that life was simply worth living, and made the career of being a personal tutor a successful one.
Now, the fusion of both, once his breathing stabilized, felt a grin forming on his lips.
He decided, with this new perspective on existence, one thing:
Life was worth living, and it was time for him to live to the fullest.
