Chapter 3

November 9, 1981

After a minor freak out over this not being the canon timeline, Hadrian calmed down and thought things over.

'So, this is not canon Harry Potter, big deal! As i have decided, I shall live a life worth living! While knowing a possible future could be an advantage, it's not necessary!'

With new determination, Hadrian pondered his next steps.

Having decided to leave the MACUSA, he needed a destination for himself.

It was with mixed feelings that Hadrian, after mentally reviewing all the magical travelguide books in the LoHP, came to the conclusion that the UK was his best bet.

Although the British magical society was very much a backwards one, it also was the one with the most personal freedom possible.

The British Ministry of Magic's laws having several provisions for privacy and personal freedom that most other country's do not have.

Their restriction on what magic can be used being pretty much that a witch or wizard may not use Dark Magic, and their definition of Dark Magic being magic specifically created to cause harm or suffering to others.

Grey Magic, on the other hand, being magic that can cause harm but also has at least one constructive use carries only a fine, and even then only if it can be proven to have been used.

With such loose restrictions, Hadrian's desire to advance magic would be much more easily accomplished.

November 25, 1981

Having spent over two weeks runing around taking care of all the paperwork needed for moving to Britain, Hadrian was happy that he took time to visit different colleges, universities, museums and libraries the country over.

The number of one-of-a-kind books, journals and personal dissertations that is not found in public circulation was astounding. The Library on Congress's own secret magical section alone allowed him to find the most books on Master level magic.

Spending 1 hour (10 hours due to time dilatation) in the Training Room everyday allowed Hadrian to reach the level of a Master in the 3 main disciplines of Charms, Transfiguration and Combat Magic.

Just by learning and then mastering more spells allowed Hadrian's spellcasting to expand and improve by leaps and bounds.

But now it was time.

Having selected an expanded trunk from the inventory of his parent's shop, he had all the space needed to keep his personal belongings and a few other utility items from the shop, having sold White's Magical Emporium itself almost whole sale to one of his father's distant relatives for quite a bit of money, more than enough for him to live for decades without working if he was frugal, Hadrian had everything he needed for the next leg on his journey.

Having brainstormed on how to make the most of moving countries, Hadrian decided to take a quick trip around the world.

His first stop, Mexico.

December 15, 1981

"The room is one Galleon a week and breakfast is available at any time before 10, elf service costs 3 knuts a day" Said the innkeeper in a disinterested tone, while extending a faded bronze key.

"Thanks" Said Hadrian taking the key, and turning to the small room he decided to rent while searching for a permanent residence now that he arrived on Britain.

Closing the door and leaving his trunk at the foot of the bed, he threw himself at the lumpy mattress with a sigh and a grin.

His side trip was exhausting, but extremely rewarding.

With portkeys allowing fast travel between countries and transportation networks such as floo allowing fast travel inside countries, Hadrian's decision of 'raiding' libraries and bookstores in his world-trip was a bright idea.

Entering the Library of Heaven's Path, Hadrian could only marvel at the tens of thousands of books on over a dozen languages waiting on the Unsorted Shelves.

Having visited the countries of Mexico, Japan, China, Russia, India, Egypt, Greece, Italy, Germany and France before arriving on British soil, had now access to basic magical knowledge of over a dozen non mainstream disciplines and an amazing amount of data on non magical sciences, since a little use of attention diversion spells allowed him to copy to the LoHP books from research divisions of colleges and universities even in Soviet countries, where such places are heavily restricted.

(The magical world gives no consideration to the no-majs Cold War, so Hadrian received no scrutiny from the russian magical Government even when he was wondering the magical areas of Moscow.)

But the book that Hadrian had already reserved to sort first was a small one from Japan.

It was surprising to find at the time, on a second hand bookstore on Kyoto's Magical Quarter, a book on the magical discipline of Ninjutsu.

Being able to read any language (a small gift from having the LoHP), Hadrian grinned and began reading.

He had a few busy days ahead of him.

December 22, 1981

Having sorted the last book the night before, Hadrian decided to look for a permanent residence for himself, because, even with Transfiguration, the bed in his rented room gave him phantom back pains.

Knowing that the best place to find some land to buy was Gringotts, that was his first stop that morning.

After passing through Diagon Alley's entrance and marveling at it's quaint appearance he arrived at Gringotts itself.

Looking at the goblins working in the bank's floor, Hadrian frowned heavily.

It was surprising to him, the truth about this race.

Goblins are natural born empaths, every single one of them, so they are capable of knowing when someone is being genuine with them.

But in the whole of his LoHP this fact was only documented in a single personal journal of a egyptian merchant in the year 1875, and even then only as a hypothesis, and in the same journal this hypothesis was refuted by the author in the year 1876, and said journal was only found by Hadrian in a secondhand bookstore in China. No other book the world over that mentioned goblins attributed to this race such an ability.

Only the fact that the LoHP did not mark this hypothesis as being flawed had informed Hadrian that a new outlook was needed to all his future interactions with goblins.

Looking at the files given to him by Property Manager Bronzefist, Hadrian frowned at both the locations available for purchase and their prices.

"These prices are all well above what they should be. Why?" Asked Hadrian.

"It seems a few... enterprising families entered the real state business the last few years" Bronzefist gave a nasty grin. "They have cornered the marked for land and have raise their asking prices quite a bit after buying the last few free-floating properties on the magical areas of Britain" The subdued greed showing on the goblin's face was simple to deduce. Gringotts was allowed to receive a 5% cut every sale through them, and Bronzefist himself would take, as far as he knew, a whole 2%.

Looking at the goblin behind the simple wooden desk in front of him, Hadrian's frustration kept on growing. "Which families?"

The grin widened. "The Black and Greengrass families, mainly"

"Who is the current Lord Black?"

The grin was replaced by a frown "Both Arcturus and Orion having passed away recently, the current Lord is Sirius Orion Black. But you should know that he is considered an incumbent. Shunning his own house he left the admininstration of House Black's finances mainly to the Contracted Accountants on this bank. So if it's your wish deal personally with him, there is an almost guarantee that he will consider it beneath him and may even disregard any such comunication"

Looking at the goblin, Hadrian was almost sure that he was speaking the truth.

But Hadrian knew that he had something that Sirius Black would not ignore.

A possible cure to his friends' conditions.

After his little jaunt in the bank, Hadrian had returned to his rented room and mentally entered the Library again.

Looking at the 8 Blank Books at the center of the Library, he considered his options.

Having read the recent issues of the Daily Prophet, he knew that the Potter family had been attacked and received the same fate of the Longbottoms in canon, although another divergence was the fact that their child was Rose Potter, and not Harry, which in fact explained the difference. Voldemort was certainly a misogynist, he would never consider a girl a possible true threat to him, so his targeting Neville first made sense.

Healing magic was heavily documented and in fact the most available when it comes to Master level magic, with the least restrictions for access.

And the reason for this is simple.

The ICW's first prerogative may be the Statute of Secret, but it's second was the advance of Healing magic worldwide.

No wizard or witch that actually studied Magical History would want a repeat of the Silver Waste Disease which was estimated to have killed 40% of the world's magical population between 1151 and 1158, and was only cured by a group of magicals from over 30 different nationalities coming together.

Shaking himself mentally and trying to forget the instinctual horror born from knowing that such a malevolent disease was possible, Hadrian concentrated on his first choice.

A book on human anatomy that includes magical theories.

After reading carefully on the collated knowledge, Hadrian gave a heavy sigh, but a grin grew on his lips.

Ancient eastern knowledge of meridians and acumpunture patched a lot of the flaws on modern understanding of the human body in relation to wizards and witches.

His second book was in fact on Basic Magic theory, which was eye-opening to him, but Hadrian had no true hurry to ponder it's mysteries after reading it.

His third was on Basic Healing Magic, which was where the true wonder started.

After mixing Eastern and Western healing magic, what Hadrian had now available for his use was amazing.

He had a very basic form of a potential universal Cure Spell, that simply makes it so that the body returns to it's most natural healthy state.

Of course, even if somewhat basic, it was still a top Master level spell that was somewhat of a power-hog, and only worked on mundane injuries.

His forth Blank was used on something that was, he believed, revolutionary.

Diagnostic magic.

How could one truly heal others without knowing what was wrong with them.

His fifth was on the Cruciatus and the effects it had on the human body.

Knowledge of the Unforgivables was restricted heavily, but Hadrian had access to several dissertations and medical journals on it's effects both on humans and other beings.

Only after reading the fifth book did Hadrian's good mood dim somewhat.

The possible damage from Cruciatus exposure was extensive and all over the place.

Things were no longer so simple.

The sixth was on possible treatments.

Yeah, not simple at all.

December 27. 1981

Hadrian was not surprised that Sirius Black responded to his attempts of contact since his first letter mentioned a possible cure to the Potters, but was surprised that Andromeda Tonks would also be part of the scheduled meeting.

Finding out that she was a Master Healer amazed him, since he knew she was not even 30 years old yet. Being a Master Healer at such a young age was a true achivement.

The meeting being in a rented room of the Leaky Cauldron, Hadrian was glad that his requested discretion was granted.

After entering the room, Hadrian saw for the first time Sirius Black.

His appearance, while clean and well groomed, gave a whole vibe of a man at rock bottom.

Hadrian knew that Sirius Black and James Potter were supposed to be the best of friends, but the Potter's conditions must weight more heavily on him than he expected.

"Hello. I'm Hadrian White" Hadrian said while putting his hand forward.

Sirius stood up from his chair and with speed took his hand in his. "Sirius. Now, you said that you could help James and Lily?" Asked Sirius with the beginnings of a maniac look.

"Sirius, calm down" Andromeda, which had a clear family resemblance to her cousin, put her hand on Sirius shoulder and firmly pulled him back. Turning to Hadrian, she took his hand. "Andromeda Tonks, nice to meet you Hadrian." Her polite smile was barely concealing her excitement. "The book you sent on Diagnostic charms is amazing! I could go on to say it's revolutionary!"

With a grin Hadrian basked her praise.

Because the book he sent them was in fact the fifth edition on diagnostic magic he wrote.

After transcribing the book he got from the LoHP in the physical world, he used his own knowledge base and his own hypothesis and inspiration to heavily annotate it and scanned it again in the library to check for flaws.

Five sessions in he could say that the book was at least 15% more advanced than the first version that he got from the Library.

"Thank you for your compliments." Turning to Sirius, that was radiating pure impatience, Hadrian continued. "Yes, i believe that i can, in fact help the Potters. As long as i have their most current medical files, preferably after being updated with my diagnostic spells."

Gesturing towards the center of the room, Sirius pointed to thick white paper file on top of the table. "There is the file. Please!"

With a calm expression and wishing that the current Lord Black would settle down at least a bit, Hadrian sat at the table and took the file, happy to see that the first page was a transcription of his Diagnostic spell, and begun reading.

20 minutes later, Hadrian put the files down and sighed with a frustrated expression and looked at his interlocutors, who both now had somewhat downcast expressions themselves, probably due to his expressed frustration.

"Yes, i can help both Potters" Andromeda and Sirius perked up. "But! It will not be easy. Lily Potter's condition is simpler and somewhat direct, if grave, so her treatment will be simple if somewhat expensive due to the needed ingredients needed in the potion to heal her, which although will need a Potions Master to brew, will only need a total of 3 weeks of preparation. But James Potter's is a different kettle of fish. His condition in fact encompasses a total of eight different possible side effects of overexposure to Cruciatus that i theorized, and each of these eight conditions need a specific treatment and can not be run concurrently with the others, three of which will be time consuming. I estimate that a total treatment time of at lest seven months, even then one of them will need restricted rare ingredients" Taking a hand written book from his pocket detailing all ingredients and tools needed for the potions, along with the brewing instructions, he quickly marked which potions would be needed, along with a loose piece of parchment where the treatment order was quickly transcribed. "The most troublesome and important one will in fact take a whole four months of brewing"

Taking the book and parchment, Adromeda ignored Sirius trembling in excitement at her side, looking like a she was given the Holy Grail.

Hadrian was not surpised.

The Cruciatus is in fact considered the worst of the Unforgivables due to the fact that permanent damage is almost guaranteed even with brief exposure.

Turning to Sirius, Hadrian took the chance to breach the secondary topic of the meeting

"As i said in the letters to you, i'm looking to buying a house for myself after moving to the country. After i found out that almost every single piece of magical land for public sale in Britain is in the hands of your family and the Greegrass family, i decided to contact you. The publicly available prices on them is well above what they are worth on my opinion, more so when one takes in account the current economy, due to the recent troubling times. That's why i decided to make available to you my research before i publish it"

Sirius took a few heavy breaths to calm down, while allowing a small smile to appear on his lips. "Yes, i remember. Don't worry. I will make one of the residences available to you immediately. Don't pay any money. If the treatments work i will, in fact give you a house"

Hadrian grinned.

Letting Andromeda read the book, and ignoring the small exclamations she made under her breath, Hadrian looked again at the files in front of him.

His eyes widened.

On his first look, he concentrated on all possible damage from the Cruciatus, that he did not put his full focus on the most basic information.

The symbol for witch on Lily Potter's file was right, but why was it the one that detailed that she was a virgin witch?

AN: Chapter 3 is out! Hadrian is now on Britain and is now ready to start his plan for magical revolution!

Now, Lily is a virgin?! What? How? Why? and why did i do it?

You get a digital sheep if you guess it right!

edit: there`s one advanced chapter on my for those with at least two fifty burning in their pockets
