Chapter 4
January 4, 1982
After a few days of looking at houses while he waited for the results of Sirius and Andromeda searching for a Potion Master willing to brew the needed potions, Hadrian decided on a quaint little mansion on the outskirts of the London Metropolitan area.
Being two stories tall and having a basement/wine cellar, it had 5 bedrooms (two which had their own bathroom), a small empty library, two offices, dining and living rooms. It also had a small greenhouse and an herb garden.
A fair price on it would set him back quite a bit, but Hadrian could still afford it without it truly hurting his finances. Although Sirius promise to simply gift him the house on successful healing of the Potters assuage his wallet.
But now that he moved in, he needed to furnish the house.
So what he did was go to second hand no-maj stores again.
A grin on his face, Hadrian marveled at the fact that the newest Blank Book he chose was on household magic.
It generated a ton of spells that would allow him to take any kind of furniture and magic them both brand new and super comfortable.
As he entered in a quasi auto pilot state, Hadrian let his mind wonder again on the Magic Theory book generated by the LoHP.
There are several different types of magic in the world, but by and large the most common is Composite Magic.
Composite Magic takes mainly aspects of Gesture Magic (Wand or Hand movements), Chant Magic (the incantation), Tonal Magic (the inflections of the incantation), Will Magic (willing the magic to work), Arithmancy (the mathematical breakdown of magical and non-magical natural phenomena) and Wish Magic (which is simply trowing magical power and hoping for something, which happens mainly through the use of foci as magical capacitors).
Hadrian have been taking time in his Training Room in using his know spells using fewer and fewer components.
Now, even most of his spells of Journeyman and lower could be used by simply willing it.
Even Master level spells, due to his now prodigious memory, were easy for him to use with only a few words or a couple of gestures.
Remembering his past life as Hadrian **** and watching the Harry Potter movies, he knew that his magical abilities were now equal to the likes of Dumbledore's or Riddle's, if you take away their combat experience.
As an 18 year old, Hadrian White was now one of the most accomplished wizards of the world.
And the fact that this was just the beginning of his journey filled him with joy.

"So today is the day, huh?" Hadrian had a small grin as he served tea to his guest.
"Yes. Everyone involved have great expectations on today's treatment succeeding, even with the secrecy you asked for. All tests for the potions show that they should help Lily recover." Taking a sip from her cup, Andromeda showed a small grin. "James's first treatment already proved that your research was right after his condition improved so much, even if he is not yet conscious. Everyone aware of it has been asking me when your book will be made publicly available."
With a sigh, Hadrian took his wand and made a motion and moments later a book zoomed in from out of the living room to his hand. "I know. And i want to publish it. But it goes heavily against current Healing Theory. And this is the reason" Handing over the book on Magical Anatomy to Andromeda's subtly grasping hands, Hadrian continued "It was as i read an old, currently disproved book on Magical Theory that i found that as things are disproved, old theories are completely discarded. And i had a thought: Are theories on healing magic mutually exclusive? No, they are not." Andromeda stopped reading and looked at him in wonder. "Then i wondered, what made old magical theory have been accepted at their time? What was the proof? It was as i combed through old facts, not only accepted by western magic, that i found discarded facts of magic that, with a bit of old fiddling, could expand our current understanding of the world"
"Merlin!" Andromeda exclaimed. "You mean you merged Ancient Magic with Modern Magic?" Then she went back to the book in her hands with a clear excitement.
Hadrian held back a grimace.
Ancient Magic was essentially magic systems that have been discarded centuries ago. Although the magical capabilities of the modern witch or wizard was practically the same to the ones from centuries in the past, the specific spells were not the same, they had been adapted for the current system.
The old systems were too specialized.
Druidism for example allowed for amazing spells when it comes to plants and animals, but a Druid was simply incapable of creating magical items.
Onmyoji magic was excellent in combating spirits and magical animals, but the system had no true 'everyday' utility spell.
Egyptian magic had the darkest curses and the best location protection magic, such as wards, but was pants at direct magic.
Taoism was the most all encompassing system, but had the most stringent requirements on the user's talents of comprehension, where over 95% of magicals would simply become stuck at entry.
Greek magic allowed the transformation of the body and mind of others on a level that was mind boggling, but was also heavily reliant on a person's natural affinity.
With a sigh, Hadrian took a sip of his tea, and wondered with the topic that was bugging him should be broached or not.
'What the hell! My curiosity must be assuaged!'
"There is one thing, Mrs. Tonks-"
"I told you, you can call me Andromeda!"
With a sheepish grin, Hadrian went on "Andromeda, right.. You may have been praising me for the diagnostic spells that i gave you previously, but i don't know if i want to make them public"
Andromeda's face contorted into surprise "What! Why?"
"I don't know if you noticed, but they may be too good"
"Too good?"
Another flick of his wand, and Lily Potter's file appeared in his hand. "Here, look at Lily's file and tell me if spells that allow such detailed scans of a person should be made available to the public. Think about the consequences, please"
Taking the file, and going over it carefully, Andromeda's face scrunched up in focus, searching for something that she could not see on a first pass. "I don't see it. It's detailed, yes, but as a Healer, my opinion is that it's a good thing"
With another sigh leaving his lips, Hadrian leaned back on his chair. "I'm a liberal man. I'm happy that others are happy as long as no one is hurt, so i would never judge, but others might. Even more so here in Britain, i believe."
"What?" Andromeda's confusion was clear to see.
Now leaning forward, Hadrian tapped on a certain symbol on the parchment. "This symbol, here"
Looking closer, Andromeda commented. "The witch symbol?"
"To be precise, the variation that means 'virgin witch' symbol. It only made sense to me after taking into account Sirius reaction to James's current condition. If they want to use Lily as camouflage, good for them. But if anyone could use the spell to find out such facts, many things that are hidden may come to light."
Andromeda's eyes widened, she then took the page for a closer look.
Almost immediately a small blush took her cheeks as she murmured "That explain so much..."
"Yeah. But it's also a very heavy invasion of privacy in my opinion. As i went through all possible results of my spells, there are actually quite a few that are invasive in ways that i had not thought about before. I can just see parents using such spells to check on their children." A small chuckle left his lips. "I worry that i will become the number one enemy of teenagers everywhere if their indiscretions so easily be found out, even if only the first time."
Andromeda's bewildered eyes were amusing.
"But i also worry for the children" Now with a frown, Hadrian explained his worries. "With memory magic, possible abuse could be found with my spells if the children were to regularly be checked on. but i also know that there are quite a few families out there that would not have healthy reactions to such possible information."
Andromeda's expression took on a decided appalled tone, Hadrian knew that she considered the possible reactions of the traditionalist families, taking on her experience with her own family.
"The ICW's decision to make publicly available every piece of Healing magic makes it so that my spells will be out there in the world if i publish them. That's why i don't know what i should do."
By Andromeda's expression, she didn't either.

"Thank you so much for accepting the invitation, Lily have been wanting to meet you since she recovered her facilities" Said Andromeda while she ushered him into her house.
"No problem. I wish to meet her as well after hearing so much about her from both you and Sirius" Hadrian responded with a polite smile.
After Lily's treatment being successful and spending a week in St. Mungo's in observation, she has now been discharged and was spending most days taking care of her family's affairs in preparation of her husband's expected recovery.
Now, over two weeks later she asked to meet Hadrian to thank him.
Hadrian had no problem with that.
Although he had spent now weeks now going over all types of experiments on magic, made simpler due the use of the LoHP to check his theories, he was kind of tired of being secluded in his new house.
A small social gathering such as this would be good to him.
Entering the small, but cozy, Tonks residence he was quickly led to the living room where he was introduced to some new people.
Edward 'Ted" Tonks was an unassuming man in appearance, but his gaze was steady and his handshake firm.
Little Nymphadora was super cute, but even at her best behavior one could feel a well of energy just waiting to burst forth from her.
Remus Lupin looked tired beyond anything else, but his soft tone and intelligent gaze made one not dismiss him out of hand.
But it was the red headed Lily Potter holding onto a miniature carbon copy of herself that caught Hadrian's attention.
One of the things that Hadrian had been concentrating in the last few weeks was magic perception.
Hadrian felt that the ability to perceive magic, either through one of the common five senses or developing a sixth one was essential.
After a few short trips to the magical quarters of the British isles he knew that most wizards and witches had a certain neutral magic presence, and even after Hadrian started to incorporate into his skill set a sort of aura reading skill, most magicals were nothing more than simple magical humans.
Lily Potter threw that scale out of the water.
Although her surface aura was normal for what one would expect from a very talented witch, below it was something that he never felt before.
It was profound beyond imagination.
It was as he was greeting everyone on auto pilot that a few tidbits of knowledge in his Library came to the fore in his mind.
Thousands of years before modern day, there were magicals that became what later would have been called gods.
Without any kind of systematic training or education, they would somehow pioneer magic by themselves to a level that a personal magic system would almost spring forth from nothing but their most basic understanding of their surroundings.
Such magicals were different from others.
Lily Potter was a goddess that has not awoken yet.
It was as he shook her hand that Hadrian used most of his will power not to cackle like a madman.
Because even though he was in no way an amoral mad scientist, Hadrian dealt that he found for himself the perfect test subject for his research.
AN: The original HP series was quite underwhelming with it's magic system, and although the Fantastic Beasts movies kinda expanded the possibilities of what was possible when it comes to scale, i always felt that it was still quite mundane. that's why i will try to expand quite a bit on what is possible with magic in my take of this world.
So readers, be prepared.
