The city turned to flames. Families running to try and protect the people that they love. That was no different for the Stacy family. George was barricading his home the best that he could to protect his daughter and their home from these invaders.
But that only ended with one of the Mirakuru soldiers crashing into the home and grabbing him by the neck. George shot him in the face to try and get the soldier off of himself. But that did nothing as he gripped tighter on the neck.
"Dad!" Gwen cried in terror.
The Mirakuru soldier noticed her and threw her father into the wall. Marching over to Gwen, it was like time suddenly began to slow down when the soldier reached to hit her. Time slowed down and she was able to move with immense speed to get out of the way of his swing.
The Mirakuru soldier wondered how she managed to do that, but decided to just go back in and hit her again. But the exact same thing happened and Gwen was shocked at her sudden case of speed. Reaching out at her with two hands this time, Gwen raised her hands and managed to catch his fists like it was nothing.
The soldier was in fact struggling to hold against Gwen, causing her to become incredibly confused with what was going on. Adding some strength to her fists, she heard the soldier cry in pain as she was breaking his hands. Spinning herself around, she added some more strength, enough to throw the Mirakuru soldier over her shoulder and right out the window of their home.
Gwen was amazed by what she was able to do and looked down at her hands, wondering how she was able to do that. She was able to throw a man three times her size and strength out of her home like it was nothing.
"What...what just happened?" Gwen asks herself as she looked down at her arms.
Her powers have been activated.
They used Felicity's tablet to turn on the news and got a look at what he was seeing. They saw what looked to be the military coming into the city limits and taking positions on the bridges and tunnels out of the city.
Oliver immediately knew who they were and made a phone call. "Waller. Those soldiers taking position at the city's exits. Those aren't army those are your men. Tell me what you're up to!"
"Slade's followers are a clear and present danger. I cannot allow them to escape the city. They need to be contained."
"You can't," Oliver stated.
"There's a drone en route. Carrying six GBU/43-B bombs. Enough firepower to level the city."
"There are over half a million people in this city."
"Five hindered and seventeen to be exact. None of who deserve to die. You told me Mirakuru made a man unstoppable. What will happen to this world if I don't stop this here and now?"
"I have the cure," Oliver informed her.
"I cannot risk the safety of the world on you failing. I'm sorry."
Oliver grew angry and hung up the phone before running over to Roy. They needed to know if the cure worked or if they could lose the city. Either to Slade or Amanda now.
They waited for something to happen, anything. But all they saw was Roy lying there unconscious. Then Miles' head buzzed and he knew that his spider senses were warning him something was coming.
"Guys?" Miles called out.
"What is it?" Diggle asks him.
Then their alerts go off and they saw that Slade's men have come to kill them.
"Don't we have enough problems?" Felicity wonders.
"What?" Roy finally started to wake up, at the worst of times. "Where am I?"
"Long story!" Miles said as he ran over to the opening, punching one of Slade's men before they could get up. "We'll catch up later!"
Oliver worked fast as he made his way to the window and shot out a zip line between the buildings. "Down the line!"
Diggle was the first to make his way over and use the line to get out of the building. Roy quickly did as he said and went down a few seconds later. Miles stuck the wood to the floor to try and keep it down.
Oliver decided to go next and went down the line, quickly followed by Miles as he came and leaped out of the clock. As soon as they were all out of there, a helicopter approached and opened, revealing Lyla with a missile she used to shoot at the Mirakuru soldiers.
Needing to find a place to regroup, the team all made their way back to the Cave and found it destroyed. There was nothing that wasn't crushed or killed as they looked at the destruction.
"Seems Slade and his men paid this place a visit." Miles took notice of this.
"We need to find anything we can to disperse the cure," Oliver said, focusing on the task at hand. "Lyla, your boss plans to blow the city at dawn."
"Waller has never met a problem she could never solve with a drone strike." Diggle sighed in anger.
"Why do you think I came?" Lyla says, surprising a few of them.
"Wait, you knew there was a bomb coming and still came?" Diggle was surprised to see.
"Well, if that ain't true love, I don't know what is." Peter Queen's voice filled the room, causing them to look and see he was there coming down. "Who missed me?"
"Peter?" All of them were shocked to see him, dressed in his suit and ready for action.
"Come on, I left for one day, and in the process, all of you managed to set the city on fire," Peter stated jokingly as he gestured outside. "Now what do you say we get to work cleaning up this mess?"
"Great to see you back." Oliver was happy to see him.
"Great to be back," Peter tells them. "What's the plan?"
"We have the cure," Miles said as he showed the briefcase from STAR Labs. "Just need to disperse it to the others."
"Oh, yeah, easy enough," Peter said sarcastically.
"We've still got a bomb coming in that we need to worry about." Oliver reminded them and looked at Lyla. "You need to go back to stop Waller or buy us enough time to stop Slade."
"Not without me," Diggle commented and looked at Lyla. "Till death do us part, right?"
"This time it might," Lyla commented.
"Guys, we need to scrounge as many weapons as we can find. Especially injection arrows." Oliver tells the group. "We're gonna fill them with the cure, which clearly works. And this ends tonight. Without killing."
Peter agreed as he wasn't willing to repeat what he almost did to Slade again. "Agreed."
They then got to work, trying to find anything that wasn't broken or destroyed thanks to the Mirakuru soldiers. Miles walked up to his friend and was wondering what changed his mind.
"Why'd you come back?" Miles wonders.
Peter chuckled and knew it was a good question. "Anya. She came to talk to me, and got attacked by the Mirakuru soldiers."
"What?" Miles was suddenly filled with worry for their friend.
"She's fine. I left her with Stick." Peter assured him.
If only he knew.
Back at the police prescient, MJ, Laurel, and Sara made their way to the prescient. Sara left as she needed to make a call to someone she knew was close by, and Laurel was unconscious by the time MJ found her in the empty hall in the back of the building.
"Laurel?" MJ asked as she ran over and tried to shake her awake. "Mr. Lance!"
Quinten ran over to find his daughter unconscious and wondered what happened. "Laurel!"
Laurel started to wake up and looked up to see them. "What?"
"Where's Sara?" Quinten wonders.
"That woman," Laurel explains as she remembered what happened. "That woman who kidnapped mom. She's taken Sara."
And that's when they heard screams and cops shooting in the next room. Quinten jumped up and just missed when Yuri was thrown through the glass window. Quinten ran into the room and opened fire on the Mirakuru soldier, but it had little to no effect on him.
That's when he made his way to the back and grabbed Laurel. MJ tried to stay back but then another soldier came in through the back and grabbed her.
The team was putting the cure inside of injection arrows and Peter placed a few of the small syringes inside of his pouches. Miles mimicked the action and put them inside his suit pouches. Diggle and Lyla left for ARGUS so that they can either stop the drone or buy them enough time to stop Slade.
"We got everything?" Oliver asks them.
Peter spun the last container of the cure and placed it in his pouch like in a Western movie. "Just say when."
"Wow. You made that reference." Miles couldn't believe he referenced that movie. But then he got serious as he looked over the small group of theirs. "Is this really gonna be enough? I mean, we're going against a whole army with two guys with bows, and two guys with spider powers. We really could use an army of our own."
That's when both of their senses went off and they jumped onto attack position. Oliver and Roy jumped and looked to the entrance when they saw Sara and an army of those people with that Nyssa girl Stick fought.
"I know," Nyssa tells them. "Which is why an army is what I brought."
"What the hell is this?" Miles asks in confusion.
"Geese, Sara, you could have called ahead before you brought..." Felicity said as she quickly did a headcount on the soldiers. "...Seven assassins into our top secret lair."
"Is it really a secret anymore?" Peter asks as he looked over the destruction. "I feel it's past that point right now."
"What is she doing here?" Oliver asks as he eyed Nyssa.
"I asked her to come," Sara explains.
Nyssa stepped forward to Felicity, as she was the only one she hadn't been introduced to yet. "I am Nyssa, daughter of Ra's Al Ghul. Heir to the demon."
Stick was right, she does like to tell everyone this.
"Felicity Smoak. MIT class of '09." Felicity decided to reply with.
"You called the League of Assassins?" Oliver asks as he dragged Sara away to talk with her. "These people are mercenaries, Sara. And whatever they promised you, it comes at a price."
"I know that's what they usually do," Sara promises him with a sigh. "But...I've found mutual ground for both of us."
"Mutual?" Oliver didn't follow what she was saying.
Nyssa then approached and came from behind Oliver. "Slade Wilson and his army are a threat to the world. Including the League. You have us at your disposal until Slade Wilson is defeated. Then we will go our superset ways. You may not want our help. But you're in desperate need of it."
"She does have a point." Peter had to admit she was right.
"Don't." Oliver snarled at his younger brother.
"We need to find where Slade has taken his base of operations," Sara commented getting the siblings focused on the big picture.
"Slade Wilson has taken residents at your office building as their base of operations." Nyssa seemed to have already located him.
"What better place to watch the city burn than the tallest building in the city?" Miles had to admit it was the best spot.
Oliver saw that was where they needed to make their stand and end this once and for all. Walking over to Roy, he handed a mask for him to hide his identity.
"We do things our way," Oliver warns the League.
"The League does not take prisoners," Nyssa stated.
"It does tonight," Oliver replied with a snarl.
If he was going to work with these people, then the least he was gonna do was keep them on his terms.
Making their way to their family business, Peter and Miles took the elevators up whilst Oliver and Sara took the stairs. Splitting the work into two elevators Rachel, they were able to make quick work of the Mirakuru soldiers. With their advanced strength on them, all they needed to do was one swift kick or punch and they'd be able to take them down. Injecting the cure is easy when the subjects are unconscious.
When they made it to the top floor, one Mirakuru soldier spotted them, only to get a blast from Miles' bio-electricity and that caused him to fly into the wall and spaz out from the attack. Taking one of his cure pouches, he injected it into him and cleared the last of them.
"Elevators cleared," Peter reported in.
Oliver was currently in the conference room with a dozen Mirakuru soldiers and shooting the cure into them from across the room. Since they're mostly close-up fighters, it was easy for Oliver to take the defensive from a distance.
"Conference room clear," Oliver reported.
Sara came up to the main office from behind whilst Oliver came in through the conference room. Peter and Miles came in through the main entrance and the four of them took position around Slade and the rest of his men.
"You must have some faith in this cure if you came alone." Slade took notice.
"Oh, please, I kicked your ass once." Peter scoffed, figuring he was hiding his fear.
"That, and we didn't come alone," Miles admitted.
That's when the League of Assassins came in through the window, immediately opening fire on the Mirakuru soldiers. Oliver shot several of the cures at Slade, but they bounced off of his armor. Peter went in and shot two strings of webbing, but Slade worked fast and cut them before Peter could yank him on them.
Miles tried to use his bio-electricity as well as a sneak attack with his invisibility, but it didn't work in his favor. Since this ability is still new and he hadn't quite mastered it, he was visible enough for Slade to fight and try to attack, keeping Miles at a distance. A Mirakuru soldier grabbed onto Miles, cussing him to direct the bio-electricity he built up onto him and sent him flying.
Peter and Oliver also suddenly got their hands full when a duo of Mirakuru soldiers came at them and tried to kill them. Peter punched one in the face, sending them flying whilst Oliver used the cure on the other.
Slade took this chance to escape out the window on a zip line and escape during the chaos. He managed to get out of the way as they were finishing off all of his men. When Peter was tackled by one of the men, he was preparing to fight back when something shocking happened.
Webbing came down and attached itself to the Mirakuru soldier and yanked the man off Peter. He watched in shock as he saw a familiar friend of his leap off of the ceiling and kick the soldier in the face.
The figure wore a sleeveless shirt with a red spider on the front, her hair out in a ponytail, and yellow lenses goggles over her eyes. Red pants and athletic take around her fingers and around their palm. Speaking of which, Peter immediately recognized the weapons on her palms as they were the older versions of his web shooters.
"Anya?" Peter asked in shock when he saw his friend had powers.
"Didn't see that coming, now did you?" Anya asked with a smile.
Miles walked over to the two as the last of the Mirakuru soldiers was stopped. He was amazed to see that Anya now had powers of her own. "You have powers?"
"Yeah..." Anya knew she needed to tell them what happened. "Stick, he seemed to have one of the Spiders that escaped from OsCorp. Kept it safe, then allowed it to bite me." She then looked over to Peter with a sigh. "He died to protect me from Slade's men."
Peter froze at the surprise to hear that Stick was murdered. Walking off a little slowly, he grew angry and punched a side of the wall, leaving a giant dent in the wall. He should have been there to stop it...he should have saved Stick. After everything that he had done for him, training him to fight and controlling his powers, it was the last thing he could have done. But he didn't. Now Stick was dead.
"I'm sorry," Anya tells her friend.
"He gave his life for us to have a fighting chance." Peter knew he could mourn his friend later. The city needed Spider-Man right now. He then turned and marched over to his friends. "Slade got away, so we need to find out where he's headed."
"Well, I've got some bad news about that," Quinten called, shocking them when the group turned and noticed him and Felicity making their way over. "He sent one of his masked men to the prescient and kidnapped Laurel."
"What?" Sara asked in shock.
"I couldn't stop them, but he kidnapped her and that Mary Jane girl," Quinten said.
"Mary Jane?" Anya asked in shock, getting Quinten to look toward her.
"Another one?" Quinten asks in confusion.
"Hey, we just found out about it ourselves," Miles admitted with a shrug.
"And now we've got more bad news." Felicity was sorry to say. "And I know that's saying a lot, considering everything. But I've hacked into satellites and found all of Slade's men are in the tunnel."
"I thought they wanted to destroy the city, not escape it." Quinten was confused.
"ARGUS is going to drop a bomb to level the city to stop them. It's what Slade was planning on, he knows Waller's tactics." Oliver was starting to see.
"Fortunately, with all of Slade's men in one location, they will be easier to deal with as all of our targets will be in one place." Nyssa saw the upside to this whole thing.
"We need to take it." Oliver had to agree with her. "Gather your men."
"What about Rhino?" Miles asks as Quinten left to talk with Oliver. "He's got to be out there somewhere."
"Yeah, a guy like that can't just disappear." Peter has to agree. "But we'll deal with wherever he is when he shows his face again. He's got MJ...probably to get some contingency for me."
"So what do we do?" Anya wonders.
"Whatever we do, we do it together, right?" Miles asks.
"Exactly," Peter stated, agreeing with them as they need to work together.
Their city was in flames.
Slade had two people that their family cares about.
Time to put an end to all of this.
