Epilogue:

" Well, as much as I love our little adventures, what do you say to making this the last one?" Eugene said, giving her a kiss on the forehead.

" Agreed" She groaned. Rapunzel stretched her arms across the car. So far Eugene was getting the hang of driving pretty well, but Rapunzel still drove. They didn't want to get into a wreck the day after leaving Storybrooke.

In their haste to embrace each other, they had forgotten about Rumplestilskin. For a moment they were sure that he would kill one of them and rip them away from each other all over again. Luckily, he stood there with a smug smile and explained himself.

" If I had used a knife, a bullet, or any non-magical weapon, this reunion wouldn't be happening. The fact is that magically killing someone trades certainty for irreversibility. It will always kill someone, but a quick counter spell can reverse it. Or, in this case, true love. To top it all off, Gothel was satisfied the moment you died, and the deal was fulfilled."

As much as Eugene wanted to punch the daylights out of him, he really didn't want to get on this guy's bad side. Besides, he seemed remorseful enough. As they gathered up all their stuff from their respective homes, they each found a spool of golden thread.

Luckily for the couple, they wouldn't be staying in town. The wizard that sent Eugene to Storybrooke had also given him a way to leave town with Rapunzel. As much as Rapunzel loved the town where she died and lost all her memories, she got the idea that some crazy stuff was going to happen there.

As the car left the town line, a surge of homesickness settled in. Rapunzel had memories of this world, even if they were false. All Eugene had was a few months of experience. As far as he was concerned, there wasn't anyway for them to get home. What were they going to do?

Seemingly reading his thoughts, Rapunzel looked him straight in the eyes.

" We'll get through this- together."

Sure enough, they did. From the moment they met in that tower, that's how it had been. They weren't always in a dream, sometimes it was more of a nightmare. Still, they always found each other. That was enough.

They drove past the town line. Forests of foliage and towering rock walls waved as they passed. Many unfortunate gas station attendants answered Eugene's questions about replenishing the car's gas. Rapunzel managed to get them into trouble at the local Chuck-E-Cheese. They gorged themselves on gas station sweets.

And they lived happily ever after.
