A/N: Lord Chalupa here. I have made quite a few big changes. I have decided to go back and add a Grover from the 2010 group. So, after those two chapters have been edited this chapter will have been uploaded. I have also decided to put everyone's thoughts into italics.
Story is rated M for language and mature humor.
So, Grover from 2005 will still be seen as "Grover" while Grover from 2010 will be "Grover"
2005 group repeats (normal): "Clarisse", "Annabeth", etc.
2010 group repeats (underlined): "Clarisse," "Annabeth", etc.
Everyone's thoughts (Italicized): "I'll have to find a time to talk to my older self and tell her to keep her distance from other guys, in case Luke gets the wrong idea," Annabeth thought to herself.
For those confused about which characters are from which timeline then here is the timeline I used:
-2005 group and gods are from the winter solstice when Zeus' bolt was stolen. December of 2005.
-2010 group (both Greeks and Romans) are from after 'The Lost Hero' and from a month before Percy wakes up at the Wolf House. March of 2010.
-Enforcers are from a year after the end of 'Trials of Apollo'. May of 2012. (I never read the Trials of Apollo but I got the dates based off the link below.)
Here is the link I used for the dates of all the characters in case people are curious: (seems like I cant put in a link, so if you go to riordan .fandom .com and then click on important dates, that is where you will find the timeline I use.)
Disclaimer: Characters and test written in bold all belong to Rick Riordan. Cover art is not mine so if there are any willing artists out there, please send some of your work and I may use it for the cover.
Now onto the chapter!
"Book 1" Athena read, "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief."
Percy gaped at the title of the book, "Why does this have to be about me!?"
"Well, the Fates did say that the books would be in the perspective of a demigod," Annabeth told him.
"Stilllll! There are so many other demigods out there and it just had to be meeeeee!"
"Stop complaining kelp head," Thalia rolled her eyes. "Is it really that surprising? I may have not been there for all of your quests, but from what I know, you've had the most crazy experiences out of all of us."
"Yeah. The life of a demigod is wack, but yours is the wackiest of them all," Nico deadpanned.
"So true," Thalia agreed.
Percy's mouth hung open in disbelief, "You two are so mean to me, I thought we were cousins."
"We are but that doesn't change the fact that you're the most abnormal out of all of us," Nico reasoned and Thalia nodded along, humming in agreement.
"I hate you two," Percy cried.
"Based off the title of the book, I'm pretty certain I know what it will be about," Annabeth said.
"O joy. I wonder what that is?" Percy cheered sarcastically, and then said, too quietly for anyone to hear, "If this entire book is going to be in my perspective, then this is really going to suck. Now everyone is going to see me for the coward I really am."
"What was that?" Annabeth asked.
"Just talking to myself," Percy lied. Annabeth looked at him unconvinced but didn't ask him anything else. She wrapped her hand in his and planted a chaste kiss on the cheek. "Everything will be fine," she told Percy. "We're together again."
Percy smiled at her and placed his head on Annabeth's shoulder. "I love you Wise Girl."
"Love you too Seaweed Brain."
Annabeth had been discussing the title of the book with her brother Malcolm, when she saw Percy put his head on her older self's shoulder. She frowned and glared at Annabeth and Percy. She was very unhappy seeing her older self so close to another guy besides Luke. Luke was already perfect and she could not see anything great about this new guy. Sure, he was a bit handsome, but looks are superficial.
I'll have to find a time to talk to my older self and tell her to keep her distance from other guys, in case Luke gets the wrong idea, Annabeth thought to herself.
Jason, Piper, and Leo also became more interested in the book now that they knew the book would be about the demigod that all the Greek demigods looked up to. They had heard nothing but praise for the guy since they arrived at Camp Half-Blood, so now they were very excited to see what made him so well respected.
While everyone was sorting through their thoughts, Athena continued. "Chapter 1 – I Accidentally Vaporize My Pre-Algebra Teacher…" She paused to let that sink in.
"How?" Athena asked Percy with an incredulous look on her face.
Percy grinned, "I guess I'm just so smart that the teacher couldn't handle my greatness."
Athena looked unamused with his answer but continued anyways, Look, I didn't want to be a halfblood.
"You'd be crazy if you wanted to be one, so you're not alone there," Thalia told Percy and most of the other demigods nodded their heads in agreement.
The gods were wondering why most of the kids would not want to be a demigod. They thought it should be an honor for them to have gods as parents.
"It can't be that bad," Ares scoffed. Percy glared at the War God and would've started throwing insults, but Annabeth whispered something into his ear which calmed him down.
If you're reading this…my advice is:
"Oh gods," the future demigods, and nine of the ten enforcers, groaned.
"What is it?" Hazel asked the Greek demigods.
"Let's just say Percy giving advice is a sign of danger."
"Hey! It can't be that bad!" Percy complained, bringing about a round of laughter from his friends.
Believe whatever lie…a normal life.
"Not the worst advice," Thalia admitted. "Sadly, ignoring the truth won't protect you for long."
Being a half-blood…painful, nasty ways.
All the demigods nodded their heads mournfully.
"So, so true." Connor said, wiping fake tears from his eyes.
If you're a normal kid…none of this ever happened.
"Why would you envy mortals?" Apollo asked. The other gods were also curious about why their kids would rather be mere mortals.
"Gods wouldn't understand," Luke bit out bitterly.
"Please continue mom," Annabeth begged before the gods could ask any more questions.
But if you recognize yourself…and they'll come for you.
"Aren't you a ray of sunshine," Nico said sarcastically.
"Says you," Thalia snarked. "You're the complete opposite of sunshine, so you can't talk."
"Well at least I'm not a goth barbie doll."
Annabeth pleaded with her mom to continue before the two started trading more than just words.
Don't say I didn't warn you.
"You didn't warn us," the Stoll brothers said in mock seriousness.
Meanwhile the gods had more and more questions piling up in their heads. It can't be that bad, can it? There's no way being a halfblood is that dangerous, right?
My name is Percy Jackson.
Poseidon's face went pale, worried about reading from his son's perspective. If Percy was anything like him, then he was worried that Percy would have some very unflattering thoughts that may offend the gods.
I'm twelve years old…Am I a troubled kid?
"Very troubled!" Everyone that knew Percy well yelled. The others that didn't know him, were curious about how much trouble one kid could be.
Yeah. You could say that.
The whole room burst into laughter at his easy admittance that he's a problem child, except for Poseidon, who became even more pale now that his worries had been confirmed.
I could start at any point…on a yellow school bus,
Everybody in the room blanched.
"That sounds…interesting," Rachel said hesitantly, for a lack of better words.
Heading to the…Greek and Roman Stuff.
Both of the Annabeth's and Athena's eyes lit up at the idea of going on a trip to a museum.
I know-it sounds like torture.
Percy shrank into his chair when both Annabeths and Athena glared at him, while the rest of the demigods, and even some gods, mumbled in agreement that it'd be torture.
"Sorry?" Percy tried but it came out more like a question.
Annabeth rolled her eyes at his antics and elbowed him in the ribs in exasperation.
Most Yancy field trips…didn't put me to sleep.
"That's you, isn't it?" Annabeth whispered into Chiron's ear, to which he nodded in confirmation.
"Why're you there?" She asked him.
"This book will probably go over it, my dear. So, please be patient."
Annabeth huffed in annoyance but stopped asking.
I hoped the trip…wouldn't get in trouble.
"First, you just jinxed it," Thalia said. "Second, when are you not in trouble? It's a wonder you're still alive." "On second thought, I do know how you've managed to stay alive," Thalia said, wiggling her eyebrows at Annabeth, causing her to blush and turn her head away.
Athena saw the blush before Annabeth turned away and now she couldn't help questioning what sort of relationship she had with the boy. He doesn't seem that bright and hoped that her daughter would be smart enough to avoid being around such bad company.
Boy, was I wrong.
"Nothing new then. At least Annabeth is there to correct you these days," Thalia said, making Annabeth turn an even darker shade of pink.
See, bad things happen…I got expelled anyway.
The whole room went quiet, turned to look at Percy in utter astonishment, and then the whole room burst into raucous laughter.
"You and I," Leo said with a mischievous grin plastered on his face, "will be great friends."
"We want in!" The Stoll brothers said, already planning the different pranks they could pull off with Percy and Leo at their side.
"How did you even manage that?" Annabeth questioned Percy.
"How was I supposed to know they'd actually leave a loaded war cannon on display?" Percy complained.
Annabeth shook her head in amusement. "Only you could manage that, Percy. Only you."
Once the last of the laughter petered out, Zeus motioned for Athena to continue.
And the time before…you get the idea.
"No please! We want to hear more!" Hermes and Apollo pleaded.
This trip…butter-and-ketchup sandwich.
Aphrodite and Silena gagged at the mention of a ketchup sandwich and Percy frowned in annoyance at the reminder of Nancy. He'd pretty much forgotten about her with everything else that had been going on in his life.
"Why that no good…!" Thalia began and her eyes narrowed dangerously.
"It's okay Thals," Grover told Thalia. "She was just a petty bully, no need to pay her any attention."
Thalia continued ranting angrily under her breath but calmed down nonetheless.
Grover was an easy…he was crippled.
Grover glared at Percy, but there was no real anger to it. "Thanks Perce. How flattering."
"Sorry," Percy whispered back, but he had an amused smile on his face, belaying how unapologetic he actually was.
He had a note…enchilada day in the cafeteria.
Dionysus gave Grover a blank stare before turning to Chiron. "Remind me to put Gregory –"
"I think you mean Grover, Mr. D."
Dionysus waved him off in annoyance. "Doesn't matter. Just remind me to put him through disguise training again. He's going to blow his cover one day with the way things are going."
Anyway, Nancy Bobofit...threatened me with death,
"HE WOULDN'T DARE!" Poseidon bellowed and summoned his trident.
by in-school suspension
"Oh," Poseidon said with a golden hue to his face and sat back down meekly.
if anything bad…happened on this trip.
"The story of my life," Percy complained grumpily. "I'll be blamed for anything and everything, even if it's not my fault."
"I'm going to kill her," I mumbled.
"Do it!" Ares screamed.
"Don't do it!" Artemis screamed as well. "You better not touch a hair on an innocent maiden!"
"Innocent?" The whole room chorused.
"Have you seen the way the girl treats poor Grover?" Apollo asked his sister.
"Yeah, but!"
"No buts!" Percy cut her off in mild annoyance. "I wouldn't kill her but I wouldn't let her continue bullying my best friend either! What type of person would let her get away with that!?"
The rest of the room nodded their heads agreement, while the demigods that knew Percy couldn't help but think how he had always been there for his friends.
Artemis wanted to argue, but hung her head in shame, realizing that what the boy said was right. Sure, there aren't many good men in the world, but she knew that she couldn't let her prejudices cloud her judgment. Sometimes she forgets that women could be just as vile as men.
He dodged another piece…blamed if anything happens."
"Like I said. Story of my life," Percy mumbled unhappily.
Looking back on it…to get myself into.
Poseidon groaned and looked to the future demigods to see if any of them knew if he got out of it alright. He caught Annabeth's eye and she gave him a nod of reassurance, which was odd because Athena's children usually hated him.
She probably fears me too much to show her hate, he thought to himself.
Mr. Brunner led the…three thousand years.
"Way longer," said the gods, offended that the boy thought they'd only been around for a mere three thousand years.
He gathered us around…give me the evil eye.
"Why?" Athena questioned, surprised that she'd feel offended on Percy's behalf. He was just trying to listen and learn. The other students were the ones at fault.
"You actually found learning interesting?" Annabeth whispered to Percy, surprised and proud of him at the same time since he was actually trying to learn.
"Well. Mr. Brunner – I mean Chiron – actually made class interesting, so yeah." Percy whispered back and then gave his girlfriend a sly smirk, "And aren't I a good student to you, Professor Chase."
Annabeth turned red and pinched him on the arm. "Don't think I won't whip the ruler out on you next time. And trust me, I'm deadly with a ruler in hand."
Percy put his chin into his hands and stared at Annabeth unabashedly with love and something 'more' in his eyes. "Anything you say, Professor."
Mrs. Dodds was this…right into your locker.
A wide grin of appreciation adorned Ares' face and he couldn't help but think that she was the type of woman for him…completely ignoring the fact that she was already fifty years old.
Percy noticed this and thought; They'd be a perfect match. Maybe they'll be the next big love story told in the Aphrodite cabin.
She had come to…detention for a month.
Both Hades and Persephone were wondering why Mrs. Dodds sounded so familiar but couldn't quite put a finger on it.
Meanwhile, Nico was trying and failing to hold in his giggles because he knew how much Alecto hated being called Mrs. Dodds. Percy hadn't stopped calling her that, even after he learned her actual name, so now she wanted to tear the name apart and Percy along with it.
One time, after she'd…"You're absolutely right."
"Way to go goat boy," Thalia drawled sarcastically. "If it was anyone smarter than Percy, then your cover would have already been blown."
Both Percy and Grover glared at her.
"I'll have you know that I take offence to that," Percy said.
"And don't call me goat boy," Grover hmphed in indignation.
Mr. Brunner kept talking…"Will you shut up?"
"Knowing you, that probably came out louder than you meant to," Annabeth said teasingly.
It came out louder than I meant it to.
Annabeth smiled smugly at her boyfriend. "Told you so."
"It's not like I disagreed with you," Percy said, giving Annabeth a tender smile. "You know me o so well, Wise girl."
Thalia gagged and Nico looked on with hidden bitterness at the couple who had gone into their own world.
The two only came out of their little pink bubble when they felt a dark glare on them. They turned to see younger Annabeth glaring at them in discontentment.
Percy and Annabeth gave each other wry smiles. "I feel like this version of you is going to hate me even more than you did when I first got to camp," Percy said in mild amusement, to which Annabeth replied with a light smack on the back of his head. "I never hated you Seaweed Brain. I just found you to be a mild…annoyance, per say."
Percy laughed and then gave her a look of mock hurt. "How could you be so cruel to your own boyfriend?"
Annabeth laughed as well and then gave him a mischievous smile. "I did tell you that I was never going to make things easy for you."
"I would have it no other way."
The whole group laughed …what this picture represents?"
"Ten drachmas he doesn't know what it is," Thalia said.
"No way," Nico replied. "I'm not giving you free money. We all know Percy will get this wrong."
"I'm in," Annabeth butted in, surprising them both.
Thalia smirked. "Your loss Annie."
I looked at the…eating his kids, right?"
Both Thalia's and Nico's mouths opened and closed like a fish out of water, astonishment clearly written on their faces.
Annabeth smiled smugly and held out her hand. "People tend to forget that seaweed brain can be quite smart. Ten drachmas please."
Zeus on the other hand, looked less than pleased. "Why haven't I destroyed that stele yet? I should blast it to smithereens."
"Yes," Mr. Brunner…was the king god,
"GOD!?" Zeus bellowed in outrage, with a majority of the other Olympians giving Percy glares of annoyance.
Zeus grabbed for the bolt, but before he could, the enforcers took action.
"Stand down, Zeus." One of them said with such compelling force that Zeus sat back down like his life depended on it. "We'll let you off with your first warning this time. Only two more and then after that…I think you get the gist."
Zeus grumbled unhappily but acknowledged them by putting his bolt away.
"Please forgive him lord Zeus," Chiron placated the miffed god. "This was before he knew anything of the gods and I'm sure he will correct himself."
Zeus sniffed disdainfully but calmed down nonetheless.
"God?" Mr. Brunner asked. "Titan," I corrected myself.
"Good," Zeus said and the other gods nodded along with him in satisfaction.
"And…He didn't trust…and the gods won."
"You just summed up years of bloodshed, into a few sentences…" Athena wasn't sure if she should feel impressed or not.
"He tends to do that a lot," Annabeth explained to her mother.
"What can I say? It's a talent," Percy boasted.
"If you say so," Annabeth said in amusement, and then curled into her boyfriend's side and sighed in contentment. Who asked her boyfriend to be so lovable?
Some snickers from…matter in real life?"
"Busted!" The Stoll brothers said.
"Busted," Grover muttered.
"Oh no! We think like a goat!" The Stoll brothers said, falling out of their seats dramatically.
"Shut up," Nancy hissed…He had radar ears.
"Just years upon years of training my hearing, my boy." Chiron explained to Percy. "With practice you can do it too."
All of the demigods gave Chiron blank looks.
"Chiron is a great teacher and all, but why does he make no sense sometimes?" Chris asked no one in particular.
"So true," Michael agreed. "Isn't it just that he has horse ears?"
"I don't know, but apparently you can take supplements for better hearing," Percy said, making Annabeth double over in laughter.
Grover glared at his best friend, who just stuck his tongue out at him. "Yeah yeah, laugh it up while you still can."
"I don't get it, do you?" Jason asked his sister, who looked equally as confused.
"Not at all."
"Inside joke," Percy explained to them between his giggles. "It'll probably come up later."
I thought about his…lead us back outside?"
"How is any of that happy?" Hermes asked no one in particular.
"I guess chopping up grandfather could be considered a happy note," Apollo told him.
During this, no one noticed two of the enforcers shivering at the mention of Tartarus.
The class drifted off …and had seen everything.
"The boy is quite observant," Athena mentioned. "He might not be the brightest, but his observation skills are quite impressive."
"Hearing your mom compliment me feels so weird," Percy whispered to Annabeth.
"Don't get used to it. As soon as she learns whose child you are, she'll go right back to hating you."
"You must learn the…guy pushed me so hard.
Chiron looked at Percy apologetically. "I'm sorry my boy, but it's for the best."
Annabeth nodded in agreement. "He pushed you hard so you can survive."
Percy gave a small smile of appreciation to Chiron, but then right after, he looked down to hide a frown that had appeared on his face. He felt a pang of part annoyance and part sadness deep within his chest.
What the Hades? Why am I feeling like this? He thought to himself, not understanding the reason why he'd feel this way.
"Are you okay?"
Percy looked over to see Annabeth looking at him with concern clear in her eyes.
"Yeah, I'm good." Percy grabbed her hand and gave her a smile of reassurance. And that's when he noticed that the previous feeling was completely gone, like it hadn't been there to begin with.
I mean, sure…what god they worshipped.
Leo leaned forward in interest. "Now that sounds fun! If other classes did that, then I'd definitely like school…" He paused and then his face morphed into one of horror. "I…I…I can't believe I said I could possibly like school! The horror!"
But Mr. Brunner expected…above a C- in my life.
"You're not alone," Malcolm said, seeing the ashamed look on Percy's face. "Most of us demigods have those same issues. Even children of Athena, like Annabeth and I, struggle with our studies sometimes."
"Us demigods are hardwired for Ancient Greek, so that's where are dyslexia comes in. We are also hardwired for the battlefield, which is why we're diagnosed with ADHD. ADHD makes it so were always on our toes and ready to fight." Annabeth added, feeling the need to comfort the older demigod when she saw the sad look in his eyes that she found somewhat hard to bear looking at.
Percy smiled at the two young children of Athena.
"Thanks you two. I can say that I no longer feel alone in this case thanks to all of you," he said, gesturing to all of the demigods. "Everybody here has made me realize that I'm not so stupid after all." Then he paused and scratched his head sheepishly. "It's just pretty embarrassing to have all of my thoughts read out loud like this."
Percy buried his head into Annabeth's shoulder to avoid anyone seeing the look of dread growing on his face. I was right. They're going to learn about everything…Gabe, all of my insecurities, my cowardliness…everything.
No-he didn't expect …much less spell them correctly.
Athena looked at Percy disapprovingly. "It can't be that hard. You're just not trying hard enough."
"Lay off him!" Annabeth snapped, in defense of her boyfriend.
Annabeth and Athena looked at her in astonishment, never once thinking she'd raise her voice at her own mother.
"You would argue with me just to defend this boy?" Athena asked, a dangerously dark look coming to her eyes.
"Not just him!" Annabeth exclaimed. "All demigods, even your children, struggle with the same thing!"
Athena looked at her in surprise. Do her children really struggle with school? She'd thought they'd always just been way smarter than the other demigods. Is that not the case? Do they just have it easier because they're naturally blessed with her wisdom? So many questions she had to get answered.
Percy looked at Annabeth with loving eyes. No words needed to be said to portray how thankful he was to her for sticking up for him.
I mumbled something about …at this girl's funeral.
"I was," Chiron said sadly with his head bowed in prayer.
The older demigods looked at Percy in a new light. They'd always thought he was slow and dimwitted, but now they were seeing that he is actually very observant.
Maybe he had always been downplaying his intelligence to make people underestimate him? Clarisse considered and gave Percy a look of new-found respect.
Thalia started giggling to herself.
"What is it?" Nico asked her.
"I was just thinking about how much better things would've been if Percy was just as observant for relationships."
Nico let out a snort of amusement and a slightly bitter look appeared in his eyes. "Would've saved quite the hassle." No one but him understood the double meaning behind his words.
Overhead, a huge storm…a hurricane blowing in.
"What're you two fighting over this time?" Hestia asked Zeus and Poseidon.
Said brothers looked at each other and shrugged. "Dunno."
The entire room let out a collective sigh. "What's new?"
Nobody else seemed to notice.
"Most likely the mist," Annabeth said matter-of-factly.
Some of the guys…wasn't seeing a thing.
All eyes turned to Hermes.
"She's not mine!" He denied hastily. "She wouldn't be trying; she would've already succeeded if she was."
Grover and I sat…couldn't make it elsewhere.
Percy avoided everyone's eyes, ashamed of all his past insecurities being presented for everyone to see.
Annabeth looked at Percy, shocked. Percy had never told her how poorly he had thought of himself in the past. Does he still think this way? She wondered.
"Percy, look me in the eyes," Annabeth demanded. Percy looked up tentatively. "You're not a looser or a freak. You know that, right?" Percy nodded. "Good. And you don't feel that way anymore?"
Percy tensed up but quickly covered it up with a smile. "Of course not," he lied.
Annabeth looked at him and could tell he was holding back but didn't push him. "You're a hero, Percy. Don't forget that." Percy gave her a sad but genuine smile and gripped her hand tighter in his.
One of the enforcers also gripped the hand beside theirs. "You hear that? You're a hero. Especially my hero. I wouldn't be alive without you."
"The same can be said to you," the other enforcer responded. "I would be dead ten times over if you weren't there to save the day."
"What can I say? We're a team through thick and thin."
"So true. I love you with all my heart."
"I love you too."
"Detention?" Grover asked…I have your apple?"
The room was filled with laughter and both Grover's ears turned pink.
"Sorry Perce," Grover muttered. "I should've tried to make you feel better."
"No worries G-man."
I didn't have much…let him take it.
The demigods that knew Percy went into an uproar.
"Percy's not hungry?"
"Are you alright?"
"Should we call a doctor?"
Percy's right eye twitched and he snapped, "I'm fine! Please keep reading before my eye permanently twitches!"
"Ugh," an enforcer groaned. "Didn't need a reminder of that incident. A permanent eye twitch might not be the worst thing in the world, but it gets hell of annoying."
I watched the stream…look she'd give me.
"Mama's Boy," Ares and Clarisse both mocked.
Instead of looking mad, Percy looked proud. "So? My mom's amazing. So what if I'm a mama's boy?"
"As you should be!" Hera exclaimed, looking at the father/daughter duo disapprovingly. "Now if Ares could be a bit more like you and act like how a good son should!"
Ares looked away from his mother's glare. If there is one thing that scared him the most, then it'd have to be his mother's anger.
Mr. Brunner parked his…motorized café table.
Leo's eyes lit up like a kid receiving a Christmas present. "Beck!"
Beckendorf looked questioningly at Leo. "Yeah?"
"Next break, do you wanna make an all-purpose café tale with me?"
Beckendorf's eyes also lit up. "Heck yeah!"
The demigods all groaned, fearing what sort of crazy contraption those two would come up with.
I was about to…lunch in Grover's lap.
Almost everyone gritted their teeth, even Artemis started to feel angry at the girl's bullying.
"Oops." She grinned…face with liquid Cheetos.
Aphrodite summoned a paper bag and gagged into it, while Silena widened her eyes in disgust.
"Did you have to describe it in such a disgusting way?" Silena asked Percy.
Percy scratched his head sheepishly and mumbled out an apology.
"It's a very accurate description though," younger Grover mentioned thoughtfully.
"You're not helping," Annabeth said, hitting him over the head.
I tried to stay…roared in my ears.
A wide smile spread across Poseidon's face when he realized what was about to happen.
A Wave? Athena thought to herself. She looked at Poseidon and saw the big smile on his face, causing her to narrow her eyes in suspicion. Of course! She realized. Trust barnacle beard to break his oath.
I don't remember touching… "-like it grabbed her-"
"Poseidon!" Zeus roared. "You broke the oath!"
Poseidon scoffed. "So did you!"
Before an argument could break out, a dark atmosphere settled over the room. Even Zeus looked scared.
"You might want to look behind you," Zeus warned his brother meekly.
Poseidon whipped his head around to come face to face with his worst nightmare: an enraged Amphitrite.
"You...You!"
Poseidon put his hands up in surrender. "Please calm down darling."
Probably not the best thing to say.
"Calm? Of course I'm calm. As calm as you are an unfaithful imbecile!" Amphitrite screamed in rage. "How many more are you seeing!? Tell me!"
"Just this one!" Poseidon told her in desperation.
Amphitrite took some deep breaths and then said, almost too quiet for anyone to hear, "If it's just this once, then fine."
Poseidon's eyes went wide in surprise. "You forgive me?"
Amphitrite sighed. "Yes. I knew that you'd have affairs with mortals once in awhile and you had been doing a great job of being faithful for the past century…so I forgive you."
Poseidon let out a sigh relief.
"She must've been very special for you to have an affair with her."
Poseidon smiled fondly. "Very special. One of a kind."
Poseidon was expecting his wife to feel jealous of his words, but instead she just nodded and told Athena to keep reading.
I didn't know what… right thing to say.
Hermes and the Stolls shook their heads. "No, it wasn't. Never, ever guess your punishment."
"Come with me"…scared Grover to death.
"Thanks for trying G-man," Percy thanked Grover.
She glared at him so hard his whiskery chin trembled.
Grover threw his arms up in exasperation. "How many more weird descriptions are you going to have for me!?"
"A lot probably," Percy admitted.
"Well, isn't that just fantastic?" Grover complained sarcastically.
"I don't think…I'll-kill-you-later stare.
All the demigods who had been on the receiving end of that stare, shuddered in fear.
"I doubt it'd scare me," Clarisse boasted.
Clarisse shuddered and looked back at her naïve younger self. His glare could make even a hellhound wet themselves in fear, much less little me. Not that she'd ever admit that out loud.
Then I turned to…get there so fast?
"Magic!" Lou Ellen waved her arms in excitement.
"Monster…Pikachu, I choose you…" Clovis muttered in his sleep.
I have moments like…my brain misinterpreting things.
"I'm not so sure," Poseidon said.
Athena smirked when she read the next line, I wasn't so sure.
"Only you'd think like a twelve-year-old," Athena mocked, trying to rile Poseidon up.
Poseidon just ignored her and smiled proudly at his son. Afterall, why shouldn't he be happy that him and his son think alike?
I went after…that wasn't the plan.
"When do things ever go according to plan?" Thalia groaned. "Especially when it's a plan that Percy came up with."
"Like your plans are much better," Percy argued.
"Better than yours ever will be."
"Not!"
"Yes too!"
"Shut up, both of you," Annabeth said, bonking them both on the heads.
I followed her deeper…the gallery was empty.
Multiple gods and demigods cringed.
"Leave now," Reyna muttered, nervously bouncing her leg up and down.
"Already happened," Percy reminded her.
Reyna glared at him and went back to being a statue.
"I was just saying…why must you be mad?" Percy whined in an odd accent.
Mrs. Dodds stood with…wanted to pulverize it.
"She wants to pulverize something, but it's definitely not the frieze," Nico said ominously.
"Not helping, death breath," Thalia berated.
"You've been giving us…"Yes, ma'am."
"I can't believe it," Thalia said in pure disbelief. "That's the first and last time we'll ever hear of Percy doing the safe thing."
Poseidon buried his head into his hands. All of the offhand comments from the demigods about his son were really putting him on edge.
She tugged on the…going to hurt me.
"Sorry to burst your bubble Perce," Grover said, "but that isn't your everyday teacher."
I said, "I'll…will suffer less pain."
"Confess? What does she want Percy to confess to?" Athena asked the demigods.
"Spoiler. It should come up a bit later," Annabeth told her mom. Athena accepted the answer for the time being, but she really hated not knowing something.
I didn't know what…of my dorm room.
Annabeth face palmed while the Stolls and Leo grinned madly.
"You sure he's one of yours?" Hermes asked Poseidon. "If not, I'd be happy to take him."
Poseidon sent a slight glare at his nephew, "He's definitely one of mine and I have no plans of putting him up for adoption whatsoever."
Or maybe they'd realized…take away my grade.
Annabeth bonked Percy on the head, "Really Percy?"
"What? You know that the only one that can get me to read is you, Wise Girl," Percy said, in a deep, rumbling voice that made Annabeth's heartrate pick up and her face turn red. "I quite like it when you play teacher for me," he continued flirtatiously and gave her a small nip on the earlobe, causing her to turn an even darker shade of violet.
Nico looked at the two in disgust. "I heard watching a couple flirt is like eating dog food, but I can honestly say that I'd rather eat dog food than watch this."
Annabeth shoved Percy away in embarrassment, "Not here, Seaweed Brain." Percy let out a joyful laugh and hummed in assent. Teasing his Wise Girl like this brought much needed joy to his heart after everything he had been through.
Or worse, they were going to make me read the book.
Before either of the Annabeths or Athena could complain, Percy said, "Dyslexia, remember?"
Leo patted Percy on the shoulder in understanding. "I feel you, bro."
Many other demigods called out in agreement and all the Annabeths could do was sigh in resignation.
"Well?" she demanded…slice me to ribbons.
"Hades!" Poseidon boomed and storm cloud appeared over his head. "You DARE send one your furies after my son!"
Hades shrunk into his chair, looking at his brother sheepishly. "I don't know why my future self did that, but I'd only send her for a good reason."
"I assure you, Lord Poseidon, that your son is safe." Annabeth said hurriedly before it turned into an all-out brawl. When Poseidon didn't detect any lies from the girl, he sat back down and told Athena to hurry up with the chapter before he had a heart attack from worry.
Then thing got even stranger.
"How can things get even stranger than this?" Frank nervously asked.
Reyna looked at their newest recruit in sympathy. I'm not sure if he's cut out for this sort of life, but if he's here that must mean he plays an important role in the future. I'll have to start preparing him for the hardships to come when were back, she thought to herself.
Mr. Brunner, who'd been…pen through the air.
What's a pen going to do? Was the general question that went through everyone's mind that didn't know about Percy's sword.
Mrs. Dodds lunged at me.
The demigods were sitting on the edge of their seats and Poseidon was gripping his throne's armrest so tightly, that cracks started to form.
Percy's leg had started bouncing up and down in nervousness. At some point during the reading, he had subconsciously gripped onto riptide.
Annabeth noticed Percy's odd behavior and asked, "Are you alright?" Percy jumped at her voice but calmed down when she placed a comforting hand on top of his own.
"What did you say?" He asked.
"I asked if you're alright?"
Percy wanted to say yes but decided to tell the truth when he saw the worry in her eyes. "I don't know," he said. "I feel anxious, almost like how I felt back then when I first killed Ms. Dodds. And I don't know why."
Annabeth pondered his words for a couple of seconds when an idea slowly started to form in her mind. "When have you started to feel this way?"
"I'm not exactly sure, but I think I have been feeling a bit off for a little while now," Percy told her honestly. Annabeth hummed and put her chin in her hands, deep in thought.
"You're making the 'I think I understand what's going on face'?"
Annabeth frowned. "I don't make that kind of face."
"Oh, yes you do."
"Whatever. You're not wrong though. I have a theory but I am not one hundred percent sure. I'll need to know a bit more before my idea is concrete. I hope I am wrong though."
Percy smiled wryly. "That doesn't sound great, when are you ever wrong."
With a yelp, I…used on tournament day.
"That's so cool!" Leo exclaimed, already planning to examine the mechanisms inside that make the sword work when he gets the chance.
"So it's like my coin," Jason commented
"Sort of," Annabeth told him, not explaining any more than that.
Mrs. Dodds spun toward…I swung the sword.
"Surrreeeee. Naturally." Rachel drawled sarcastically, then turned to smirk at Percy. "Like when you swung at me. Must've been natural."
"I told you I was sorry!"
"What're you guys talking about?" Annabeth asked them.
"You'll see," was all Percy could say, very well knowing that Annabeth was pouting at him. She knew pretty much everything that had to do with Percy and absolutely hated when she didn't know something.
"I'll make it up to you, I promise," Percy offered. Annabeth grumbled in dissatisfaction but mumbled in agreement and made him swear to take her out on a date anywhere she wanted next chance they received.
The metal blade her…were still watching me.
The whole throne went silent before loud cheering rose up from the demigods.
"Dude!" Jason said with a huge grin plastered on his face. "The first monster you killed was a fury!? That's awesome!"
Percy smiled back and humbly told him it was just dumb luck.
"The boy got lucky…" Hades grumbled darkly to Persephone, upset the boy vaporized one of his furies.
Persephone gave her husband a nudge. "There was probably some luck, but you have to praise his natural instincts."
Hades grumbled in agreement but that didn't mean he had to be happy about it.
I was alone. There…magic mushrooms or something.
Many of the people in the room laughed at his thoughts. Like, who thinks of magic mushrooms when something weird happens to them?
"Only you'd think something like that, seaweed brain." Annabeth smiled at Percy good naturedly.
"Hey Kat…" The Stoll brothers began.
"You might as well drop the thought right now because there's no way in Hades I'm helping you grow magic mushroom," Katie interrupted with crossed arms and a no nonsense look.
"Awww, you're such a party pooper."
"And don't use my name as a curse," Hades complained.
Had I imagined the whole thing?
"Nope," Thalia said, popping the 'p'. "Even you wouldn't be able to imagine up something so crazy."
I went back outside… Mrs. Kerr whipped your butt."
"Who?" The Stoll brothers and Leo asked.
I said, "Who?"
All three of them grinned at Percy. "We think alike!" They said in unison.
"Our teacher…Mrs. Dodds was.
"Ten drachmas Grover can't fool him!" Thalia called out.
"Nice try. We all know Grover can't lie for his life," Annabeth said.
"Hey!" Grover yelled, making the rest of the room laugh at his expense.
He said, "Who?"…was messing with me.
"We really need to teach Grover how to lie," Connor said to Travis.
"Hey dad. Can we have one of the copies of your 'How To Lie For Dummies' book?" Travis asked his dad.
A thick book appeared in his lap.
"Thanks dad!" Tavis thanked his father and then whispered to Connor, "We have a lot of work to do if were to get Grover into lying shape."
"Not funny, man…Thunder boomed overhead.
Everyone rolled their eyes at Zeus' dramatics.
I saw Mr. Brunner sitting…at me blankly. "Who?"
Hermes looked at the centaur, impressed. "Now that's how you lie."
"The other chaperone…you feeling all right?"
Percy glared light heartedly at the Centaur. "I had literally thought I was crazy for a time there. I was scared I would end up in an insane asylum at some point."
Chiron smiled at Percy sheepishly. "Sorry, my boy. The less you knew, the safer you'd be."
"What good that did for me," Percy muttered grumpily.
"Well. That was the end of the chapter," Athena put down the book.
Annabeth instantly grabbed the book. "I'm reading next."
She opened the book to the next chapter and did a double take at the chapter title.
"These titles are quite odd to say the least."
Chapter 2, she read. Three Old Ladies Knit The Socks Of Death.
Question: Would you rather live at the Greek camp or the Roman camp?
