Here's a second chapter to this fanfic! I'm probably going to extend it to three parts, and the third part will be coming out soon! I call this chapter "Abby and Chester are both pining after another but neither of them get it despite everyone else knowing."
Also, Ty's friends make a cameo in this chapter. I couldn't resist the idea of Ty living in a frat house with a bunch of nerds. They hold movie nights and take turns burning the popcorn.
That's all for now!
"I WIN! YEAH!"
The monopoly board was almost knocked off the table as Ty cheered in victory. Abby rolled her eyes at her brother's behavior but couldn't stop a small smile from coming to her lips. She normally would've been outraged at loosing the game, but the concert had managed to tire her out enough that she didn't care. Chester sighed before he gave a similar smile and clapped his hands.
"Congratulations! You are now the richest man in all of Ringworm! Spend your money wisely or you'll end up like Paige!"
Abby burst out laughing and had to lean forward to stop herself from falling backwards in her chair.
"Abby, the joke wasn't even that funny." Chester said, holding out a hand to make sure Abby wasn't about to fall forwards.
"She knows, but everything about Paige is funny to her." Ty stood up from his seat, "Anyways, I'm beat! I don't know how you two aren't pooped from your concert."
"It's a talent," Chester rubbed the back of his neck. His sleeping habits weren't exactly the best, and the other college students were always having parties in the dorms. That's why he like coming to the Archer house. Usually only Abby would be there because Ty lived in a frat house with three of his friends. Abby was planning to live with her parents until she graduated college.
"Getting five hours of sleep each night is not a talent." Abby sat back up nudged Chester on the shoulder before turning to Ty, "It's getting late, is Andy coming to pick you up? Or are you sleeping here tonight?"
"He's coming at 11:30" Ty replied and pointed to a clock on the wall which read 11:25
"Alright then, what about you, Chester? How far is your college from here?" Abby asked.
Chester's eyebrows scrunched up. His college was about an hour away from Abby's house and he hated driving at night. There was a shortcut through a pathway near Rottingham Forest, but that place gave Chester the creeps for some random reason. Abby seemed to sense that he was antsy and spoke up.
"I could drive you home if you want."
"You can't. That'd be way too much trouble for you." Chester shook his head and got up from his seat, slipping on his jacket.
"Really? I know how much you hate driving at night," Abby replied and pushed in her seat, "Why don't you just spend the night here then instead?"
Chester froze at the notion of spending the night. Was there a spare room in the house? Or would he be sleeping in Abby's room?
"Oh yeah! You have that extra mattress, don't you?" Ty piped and and turned to his sister, "Did Mom throw it out?"
"No, we still have it but I'm not making Chester sleep on it. He can take my bed."
"I'LL USE THE MATTRESS-" Chester's face flushed as he rushed the words out, earning two confused stares from the siblings. He quickly realized how he sounded before clearing his throat.
"Sorry, I mean- if I stay the night I'll sleep on the mattress. I couldn't take your bed, Abby."
"So you'll spend the night?" Abby smiled, "Great! Everything's settled then. If you insist on using the mattress then I'll go get it in a minute."
Chester was about to interject with the idea that he didn't even know if he should be staying the night when the sound of a car horn interrupted him. Ty jumped and grabbed his water bottle from the table.
"That's my ride! I'm gonna go grab a bag of popcorn since I may have forgotten to buy it for tonight's movie night." Ty said and ran to the kitchen cabinet to grab a bag.
"Don't touch my cheddar popcorn!" Abby ran after her brother.
"Ok, ok! I'll just get a plain bag!" Ty recoiled his arm after Abby shoved him past to grab her bag of popcorn, holding it to her chest protectively. Cheddar cheese popcorn went fast in the Archer house.
Ty grabbed a bag of plain popcorn and slammed the cabinet shut before running past Chester and waving goodbye. He then ran to the front door, opening it to find Andy making his way towards him.
"Did you not hear the car horn?" Abby heard Andy's muffled voice and sprinted over to the door to greet him.
"He forgot his popcorn." The redhead grinned and waved at her friend, "What are you guys watching tonight?"
"JAWS!" A voice yelled from Andy's car, Abby poked her head outside to see Pat waving from the backseat.
The commotion caused Chester to approach the door, curious of what exactly was going on outside. He peered outside from behind the doorframe, which turned out to be a bad idea.
"Is that your boyfriend, Abby?" Another voice called from the car. Chester went still and Abby's face turned red, but her embarrassment was quickly replaced by anger.
"It's none of your business, Roger!" Abby yelled at Roger, who stuck his head out alongside Pat's.
Roger looked like he was about to say something but Pat rolled up the window to stop a possible argument. Ty glanced from Chester to his sister before running off to the car.
"See you two later!" Ty's voice trailed off as he shut the car door. Andy was left standing on the porch, looking at Abby with a nervous expression.
"Uh, you didn't tell me you were dating someone..."
"Nonono, Andy- it's not like that!" Abby placed her hands on Andy's shoulders, "We're friends- good friends!"
Andy didn't look convinced. Chester felt a bead of sweat dripping down his back. Was Abby nervous because she liked him? Or because she didn't?
"Anyways, bye! I'll see you on Monday!" Abby pushed Andy towards the steps and grabbed Chester's arm, tugging him inside her house before she slammed the door.
