CARLISLE POV
Today is the day I start my new position at Forks General Hospital as the Chief Medical Officer. I am excited to start this new chapter and to help the people of Forks as much as I can. I've been to the Washington area before about 70 years ago. At that time I came with my extended family of sorts. For all intents and purposes my son Edward, who I changed in 1918. My best friend Esme who was shortly after him. Also my daughter Rosalie and her husband Emmett.
I am alone this time because Esme met her mate, an old friend of mine actually by the name of Alistair. We were traveling in England and came across Alistair and he and Esme instantly connected. They are now living in France in a beautiful house that Esme designed and furnished.
Edward decided to go and live on his own for little while. Once he left then Rosalie and Emmett decided to stay in London and try living there for a bit. So that left me here alone in Forks. I don't mind the alone time because then I can focus more on my job and really be a great asset to the hospital.
I was just getting settled in my office when one of the nurses came in and stated that the police is requesting my assistance at a crime scene. "Dr. Cullen!", she yelled. The police are at a scene where it appears that a camper was mauled by a bear! They would like for you to come and take a look!
"Oh wow!", I said. "First day on the job and I already have a big case!! Give me the directions and I will head there now", I said to the nurse.
I arrived at the scene and my senses already determined what happened. This was not a bear attack at all. This camper was killed by a vampire. There scent was still on the scene but I was fading. As I walked over to the crime scene another scent hit me and I almost lost my control.
This scent had me by the throat and smelled better than anything I ever came across! If it wasn't for my centuries of control I might have lost it. When I got closer to the scent it was coming from the man who was leaning over the dead body. When I stood up to great me it took all of my control to not attack this man! He was extremely handsome and tall. I could tell that his shoulders were broad under his jacket and his pants fit his muscular legs perfectly.
I had to pay attention as he greeted me, "Hi Dr. Cullen, I'm Chief Swan."
